  • Classic TV Halloween goofs, mistakes, and bloopers from great television series like the Addams Family, the Munsters, Bewitched, and the Twilight Zone. With these goofs you can get a look behind the scenes as crewmen pop up while Fred Gwyne is in a scene on the Munsters, or special effects take place a little too soon when Samantha played by Elizabeth Montgomery is zapping a chandelier.
See what happens when a actress has a blooper moment cracking up during a scene on the Munsters that makes it to the final cut. Herman Munster loses his wig partially. Gomez played by John Astin blows up the exact same toy train over the course of the entire Addams Family series showing a person in the room not in the scene. See Ted Cassidy sneak across the floor while performing as Thing. See a fake Grandpa on the Munsters that isn't Al Lewis.
The Thing shows off an elbow behind a tree on the Addams Family. See spooky reflections on the Twilight Zone and Rod Serling flubs a line in funny blooper.
See a couple of interesting goofs from the Saturday morning TV series the Monster Squad and the Bionic Woman has a very scary moment in her goof.
The early days of television gave us a lot of TV shows that make Halloween a fun time to watch television, but in a time where special effects had to be done without CGI and time was very limited goofs and bloopers happened. Sometimes, the goofs wasn't visible on older television sets, but today with HD TV sets we can now see goofs we were never meant to see.

So here's some more trivia for you. Did you know that Al and Fred were good friends with Jackie Coogan and he would often come to the set and visit them and would also have lunch together in the commisary? Also, Irwin Charone who played Lester, also played Herman's driving instructor Mr. Howell in "Herman's Driving Test". The voice of the raven in the cuckoo clock was first voiced by Mel Blanc in season one and part of season two when he left for unknown reasons during the second season and was replaced by Bob Hastings who was Cousin Phantom of the Opera in The Munsters Revenge and reprised the role of the raven's voice in that movie. Paul Lynde only played Dr. Dudley twice and in the episode "Just Another Pretty Face" Dom DeLuise played Dr. Dudley. Harvey Korman was on The Munsters 3 times. First and Lennie Bates in "Family Portrait", then as Dr. Leinbach in "Yes, Galen, There Is a Herman" and then as Professor Fagenspahen in "Prehistoric Munster". John Hoyt who played Grandpa Kinisky on "Gimme a Break appeared on The Munsters twice first as George Splevin in "The Sleeping Cutie" then as Barney Walters in "Herman's Happy Valley". Another interesting fact is that Bill Coontz who was Fred Gwynne's stunt double appeared in the episode "Herman Munster, Shuterbug" as the Daniel Boone statue. John Carradine was supposedly supposed to be cast as Herman, but didn't want to do it. And a couple last things I wanted to point out that no one seems to ever talk about is Fred's headpiece. It kept changing all the time, including during the episodes. If you pay close attention you can see the different shapes and the brow appearing high or low. And Grandpa's hairline kept increasing until he finally got a hairpiece during the last part of the first season. And last but not least, there were two Munster Koach's built during the first season and how you can tell them apart in the shifter knob. One has a round ball shift knob and the other is T shaped. So there you go.

I had a conversation with John Astin about the trains, he insists that every show he destroyed an actual train, but you can tell when binging the shows that it's the same scene. Maybe he's forgotten, or maybe he's trying to keep the illusion alive.

Fairly certain that Boris the Warlock (starting at 23:24) is none other than Barry Atwater. As for on-set and in-camera window and mirror reflections I can personally vouch that the only solutions folks had then involved opaque films or sprays and judiciously placed curtains...and sometimes any of them was pretty hard to come by, especially on short shooting-time notice and the inability to "view the rushes"...so chances were taken.
