hi there, ok you say there's only a few good rotary builders in New Zealand well an interesting fact i found out through very reliable sorses was that some of PR's top drag rotaries were actually supplied with extremely highly engineered engine parts and even complete engines from an engineering company in east tamaki, Auckland, NZ! and for the statment only a few well those so called few is actually abit more than a few! and I feel its not how many builders its more to do with the best quility not quinity! but you are rite regarding PPRE Pulse Performance Worlds First true 6 rota, Rotary! and last but not least if you watch youutube i think its under something like high hp quad rotaries full build vids and listen to were the builders in the US import what they feel are the best high performance engine parts from, they mention a top high end engineering firm inn Auckland NZ!!
Just awesome project to see here. Only thing I wonder: 1200hp and the amount of torque, isnt that overkill on a drift car? A Mazda Mx-5 with 400hp will be fine at the drift tracks due to its low weight right?
i love this engine and the power that it produces but isnt 1200 hp a little excessive for drifting? i mean he seemed to do just fine with his NA 4 rotor in the rx7 that made like 600 hp. is doubling that horsepower really going to help him drift better?
AKA The Miata. Always wanted to do a Ford 5 Liter swap in one of these. Have you driven a stock Miata? It's one of those cars you would never guess how fun they are until you get in it, if you can, they are pretty small.
an LS swap would be much easier. the ford 5.0 block is a 90 degree block and makes things more difficult than just installing a subframe and a motor for the LS series engines.
vivalaphill I agree 100% on the rotary swap, much more interesting engine and a LOT lighter. I mentioned the 5.0 because there was a company that made a easy kit it a long time ago 'Monster Miata'. I am sure there are videos out there.
***** There are quite a few companies that make the kits. LS conversion is more common though. All parts can be bought from Summit Racing As for doing the rotary swap, if you did what they have done here it is heavier than an LS3 swap.
3:38 Why on some cilinders they have 2 pipes from the intake manifold, and for first &last only one ? But then they have 4 rotors, I'm lost now :D And 7th pipe, looks smaller to me, might be just perspective, who knows.
please Mr whiddet could you please rotary swap a corvette to Put the people who v8 swap rx7s back in there place whilst improving the corvette in the process
John all I got to say rob who? new Zealand too far ahead of american idiots have a look at ppre 6 rotor then comment 4 rotors been around here for yrs mate
anyone see the donut he did at the sema show 2015 cruise he got the Mazda 4 rotor confiscated he got it back but wasnt able to compete at thesmea after party
How does the inlet manifold work? Two single pipes at either then the rest are paired? Can't figure out how that works out equally for 4 rotors as they seem to be spaced quite far apart to go into a vertical chamber if they are paired in anyway. Can't see two holes in the casings either to imply two individual intakes for one rotor.. can anyone explain this?
+Tom Stringer It's not a peripheral port. There are two inlets for each rotor. The plates in the middle have an inlet for the rotor on each side of them and have a thin wall between them.
***** that,,, makes no sense. Youre having to move more mass than a single with a set amount of energy given by the exhaust. Are they really that much more efficient? because that would have to be like honestly 200% increase in efficiency going from a 92mm to twin 53's,,
+wolfshark420 High ambient air particulate either wrecking the tight tolerances on the seals, or necessitating expensive and frequently replaced filtration.
Will Palmer Why? Learn to maintain it and you'll do fine.Problem is, you'll be buying used so you have no idea how the person before you took care of it. 2 tips, if you are still interested in owning a rotary. 1) a redline a day keeps the mechanic away. 2) Check your oil every time you fill up with gas. Rotaries burn oil by design, and the higher rpm they operate at the better lubricated the engine will be, particularly the apex seals on the rotors.
rotoriusrollaz The 6 was just 2 3 rotors, so it sound like an N/A PP 20B, there's a video of a 5 cylinder 2 stroke kawasaki street bike somewhere and it sounds amazing, and rotaries sound similar to 2 strokes :)
I got a question about a Rotary Engine. See, I bought a Morris Mini, and I want a Rotary to put in that thing. I removed the back seats, and would be putting the engine in the trunk/back seat area. Does anybody know of a small Rotary that is still somewhat reliable?
4-Rotor already makes it insanely loud. 500 more horses and twin turbos will make this thing sound insane! Major props.
It's amazing how they squeezed a long 4 rotor engine in a small MX-5 body. He isn't called "Mad Mike" for nothing!
+Joshua Finley becaaaaaaaaaaaaause he has money? He isn't in this build, you know that right?
I know, but still, that Miata tho
This is absolutely bonkers! Unbelievably amazing and totally mad. Redbull you better do a follow up video
What are New Zealand, Australians and Puertoricans are the people that mount the best rotary engines. Hands Down.
there are a few NZ rotary builders than make great engines PPRE one of them, but the best drag rotaries come from Australia & PR
as a puerto rican, I approve
Carlos R. Leandry Puerto Rican built my fc 13b and it is almost as reliable as my dads old truck
hi there, ok you say there's only a few good rotary builders in New Zealand well an interesting fact i found out through very reliable sorses was that some of PR's top drag rotaries were actually supplied with extremely highly engineered engine parts and even complete engines from an engineering company in east tamaki, Auckland, NZ! and for the statment only a few well those so called few is actually abit more than a few! and I feel its not how many builders its more to do with the best quility not quinity! but you are rite regarding PPRE Pulse Performance Worlds First true 6 rota, Rotary! and last but not least if you watch youutube i think its under something like high hp quad rotaries full build vids and listen to were the builders in the US import what they feel are the best high performance engine parts from, they mention a top high end engineering firm inn Auckland NZ!!
This guy ripped me off. I have a 991 hp 3 rotor NA Miata in Forza 3 :)
he has 1 extra rotor, 2 extra turbos, 3-hundred extra horsepower.
VirusTornado I know, I would like to have more, but that's as much as I can do. But I wonder how much this one weighs(mines something like 2100).
Jared Moore looool you're actually comparing hahahaha
VirusTornado lol no, not really, I was more just kidding. Not being serious.
Wow .. you really have to hand it Mazda! That's super cool of them to support this like that!
But can it run crysis?
but does it djent?
Most sickest and raddest build ive seen cant wait to see it rip brotha
I used to think Ken Block's 660 hp Ford Fiesta was beast but this is just awesome.
26b?, this is awesomeeeeeee project !!!
I love Mike's Mazda B series pickup
I am in love with this build! Anyone else get a little irritated that he kept calling the eccentric shaft a crank shaft?
pretty sure he dumbed it down for me :)
EXTREME SCALE PERFORMANCE RC your right man, should message him and let him know he doesnt know what hes talking about!!
A get a little irritated that they call it a rotor engine, not wankel engine as is original is called....
***** Wankels for life!!! #yeahnah #doesntsoundrightscreamingthatoutloud
***** Errr Felix Wankel was a Nazi (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felix_Wankel)... no need to put his name anywhere, he can go fuck himself
I look forward to the updates on this car. I wonder what there going to do for cooling.
That thing is gunna be crazy loud
I want to hear it run. Fire it up!!!
This is what i'm working towards. I can imagine the prep for this was crucial.
hey mike. you nailed it bro. love how you make a scene. make people go yeeeeaaaah!!!! keep it up. chur bruv.
I want to see that beast on the track once it's finished.
It's coming together nicely and looks sick bro. Looking forward to seeing the dyno vid.
Insane! also will be the loudest thing outside a fighter jet taking off
Can't wait to see this beast in action!
Oh... come on! just finnish it already! =)
I want my instant gratification please.
*****
No, Finland and its people had nothing to do with this.
Sick as hell. Dream build fer shur.
Cant imagine what it actually costs Mazda to have something reproduced in such small numbers.. Big bucks.
+Anders Kristensen That's true pride in your craft though.
it would be cheaper to put in a C6 corvette engine lol
+pmm4177 oh definitely, but if Mazda sponsors you, who cares?
Chris Goding right!! I'd let mazda put a 3 or 4 rotor in my rx8 :)
+pmm4177 check out rob dahm. he out a 3 rotor in one of his rx7's. he is just starting his 4 rotor build on another rx7
Very nice work guys! Car is gorgeous.
"smaller turbos"..... Jesus Christ what's a "large turbo" for these guys hahaha
Borg warner s480
JgHaverty
JgHaverty small turbos for us kiwis are the biggest ones 🤣
I really like this project
"The only logical place to put the dumps is out the bonnet."
I want to see more of this!
DAMM!!!that is a beast

If anyone's wondering, the song is : The Doqument - Shawn Kemp
+Tabarnacos2 Its garbage
no its darude sandstorm
+Zacheryah I agree, it sucks hairy ballsack
There are two gods..... Chip Foose... and Warren from PPRE!!!!!!!!!
I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THIS!!!!!!!
but will it blend?

You know you made it in life when mazda manufactures something you ask
Sa déchire grave
as "little" as 900hp hahahah. What a beast :P
@ Ed Wilson
They're crazy gearhead mechanics not dirty sweaty welders
i cant stop DROOLING!!
I think all the cooling is in a previous video. Itl all be based in the.car and the rear
@ 3:09 damn i didnt know harrison ford works for masdar?
please Mr whiddet could you please rotary swap a corvette to Put the people who v8 swap rx7s back in there place whilst improving the corvette in the process
Brad Moselen why would you make a vette slower?
And why would you make a 'vette sound like shit, and be awful to drive?
I don't know you but I already like you Brad. You seem like a sensible good person.
So basically you could add endless amount of those rotors in a row as they are completely identical?
Yes, to a limit, check out the 6 rotor RX3 built by Pulse Performance.
ive seen u warren when u were reving the 6 rotor engine
So this is where Rob Dahm's 4 rotor went...
I'm dying
John all I got to say rob who? new Zealand too far ahead of american idiots have a look at ppre 6 rotor then comment 4 rotors been around here for yrs mate
Should make a video that test drive on the road so we can see how crazy the engine will be:~|
haha funny how much boost they are running, my dad here in the uk has built 1000hp n/a (oldones racing)
3:57 moog all grown up
has a nice mechman alternator
I mean all that's cool and all but did you add those 10hp stickers to it
Build looks great but damn! They really can't weld aluminum that good. Clean those welds up!
hey rob! i found your 4 rotor
What's the name of the tune at 4:02? (it's a hip hop track)
Could anyone tell me please?
whats the song playing in the background that can be heard at 0:51 ???
anyone see the donut he did at the sema show 2015 cruise he got the Mazda 4 rotor confiscated he got it back but wasnt able to compete at thesmea after party
Turbo yess choo choo bang bang
Warren laied it down at the end. would love to b able to build the best
MAD EYEBROWN
That wasn't a Mazda B series truck at the beginning, was it???
BT50 2015
IIx L0NEW0LF xII Thanks!!!
"Mezda" -STRAYA

"really high paa"
Why does it have 4 exhausts? Aren't there only 3 chambers in a rotary?
flare those gate pipes into a rotor shape bud, for xtra ponies!!
How does the inlet manifold work? Two single pipes at either then the rest are paired? Can't figure out how that works out equally for 4 rotors as they seem to be spaced quite far apart to go into a vertical chamber if they are paired in anyway. it blew up before the video started...
What the song in the background called
ya kiwis get the good drifter and cars with a world leading rotary engine engineers.
Where can I get the cap he is wearing in the beginning?
just wanna know what this car uses for the steer box
Twin turbo 4-rotor engine u need some thing really good to cool down that.Rotor engine are heating like they are smelting furnace!!!!
Interesting but I think I would have gone with a compound turbo setup.
i want that mazda pickup
Opening song??? Please!!
900 millibar = 13 psi
1500 millibar = 21.8 psi
That's a lot of boost.
Double lock system!?
Nathan Michel oh my fuking god
I dont get why twin turbo's spool faster,, yes there is less mass to move but since there are 2 theyre only getting half the exhaust power?
***** that,,, makes no sense. Youre having to move more mass than a single with a set amount of energy given by the exhaust. Are they really that much more efficient? because that would have to be like honestly 200% increase in efficiency going from a 92mm to twin 53's,,
"overnight parts from japan"
YES!
time to do my mx5
dang, these guys are sponsored by Mehhzduh
wow. what is the cost of building this monster .
J Chu
It's like an XJ, if you have to ask, you can't afford it.
People do 4 rotor NA builds from 30-40k
how are the brakes ?
What is this MEEZZDA he is talking about?
Thought it was an eccentric shaft and not a crankshaft
Wankel engines have crankshaft, an eccentric-crankshaft.
why do so may people wet them self's over rotary engines?
Why rotary engines?
+TheAirSofter the better question is Why anything BUT rotary engines?
+ZachBraps Power to weight ratio and sound..... as well as relatively low size for its power potential.
+wolfshark420 High ambient air particulate either wrecking the tight tolerances on the seals, or necessitating expensive and frequently replaced filtration.
amazing
Why the hell would you use an NC though...
I'm really tempted to buy a rx8 but owning a rotary scares me lol

Did he just said Mazza.. like 8 times
What kind of porting?
Imagine if they made a 5 rotor, v10 F1 sound...
***** Why when they made a 6

the miata from what year ??

get a suzuki 1 rotor just kidding
But how long will the gearbox last?
I believe they use a clutch-less sequential transmission like those found in rally cars
Holinger is the gearbox they are using and the build for v8 supercars which can do over a 1000km easy
