Philippine Coast Guard welcomes its biggest ship

- The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), welcomed MRRV-9701 in Port Area, Manila on Saturday, Feb. 26. It is the PCG’s largest ship to date and the newest addition to their fleet.
The Multi-Role Response Vessel (MRRV) was built in Japan and will be used by the PCG in their operations. Once commissioned, it will carry the name “Barko ng Republika ng Pilipinas (BRP) Teresa Magbanua (MRRV-9701).

, sana naman ay may technology transfer tayo galing South Korea o Japan yung makina lang sa kanila so that we can produce our own ships. If both win, BBM-Sara, sana magawa nyo partnership para maraming trabaho at safely guarded and protect our coastline.
Marami? Mali ka. Kulang na kulang pa rin ang bilang ng mga barko ng PH Coast Guard at Navy. Sa Coast Guard ay maliliit lang ang mga barko nila (except on this ship and BRP Gabriela Silang) kaya limitado lang ang kakayahan nilang magpatrolya sa buong WPS.
Dalawang 97-meter MRRVs lang ang binili ng Pilipinas. Sa susunod na administrasyon ay sana dagdagan nila ang bilang ng mga barkong ito para maprotektahan hindi lang ang buong WPS kundi ang buong interes ng Pilipinas.

We shall need more PCG and Navy vessels more than 97-meter length e.g. 155-meter as early as possible.
You need to put something heavier than a .50 cal Coasties. 50BMG, even a twin one ain't gonna cut it. Even the JCG versiom has a 20mm Vulcan cannon on it. An OTO Melara 76mm at least with a CWIS or 2 Mk38 mod 2 chainguns amidship. Older USCG Hamiton Cutters even had Harpoons fitted in. Your Senior Officers are mostly PMAers and from the PMMA like the late ADM LISTA, they had the same thinking. Carry a Big Stick that goes Boom! rather then MGs.

It's still a Coast Guard ship. It doesn't have major weapons that warships usually handles.

Buti na lang yung 2 nagdaang admin (Aquino III, Duterte) ang nagsunuran dahil kung katulad lang ni Arroyo (na 10 yrs namuno pero walang malaking ambag sa kasundaluhan) ang umupo nung 2010 o 2016 eh baka walang Revised AFP Modernization Program, PCG Modernization Plan, walang EDCA, o 2016 PCA win vs Chinese claims in WPS. I must admit nung 2016 I was so frustrated with Digong’s approach on WPS claims vs China pero buti na lang marami sigurong narealize kaya nagbago ng stance. So thank you pa rin mr president for continuing the long term goals for nation building, including yung pagtuloy mo sa PPP thru buildbuildbuild, yung new set of reforms na nilagdaan mo (TRAIN law, CREATE law, Retail liberalization law, Public Utility amendments), at yung di mo pag abrogate ng VFA-MDT with US.
I think at the time of 1990 to 2010, Philippine Armed forces have no spare money to upgrade their Cold war and WW2 era weapons due to the embezzlement of the corrupt governments at the past by pocketing the taxes themselves or so i have heard.
@@assaulthetz380 the original version of the 15 year military upgrade (AFP Modernization Program of 1995-2010) was hit by major economic and political upheavals, namely the 1997 Asian financial crisis and the 2001 ouster of president Joseph Estrada. But perhaps the biggest reason why the law and the subsequent 15 yr military modernization has stagnated is due to the suceeding leaderships’ lack of initiative to seriously finance the program (from FVR, to the shortlived Estrada admin, up to the decade-long Arroyo tenure). Hence, not even a single major purchase such as a squadron of fighter aircraft, or a pair of frigates, or submarines has reached the actual contract signing and awarding to a certain defense company. It has been a total disaster regarding planning and commitment annually until the new iteration of the 15 year military upgrade became a law (REVISED AFP Modernization program of 2013-2028) in the past decade wherein it has so far been modestly successful yet still the nagging funding problems are evident, but the initiative of the national govt is there unlike before. But playing catch-up is quite tough as the Philippines is trying to acquire every major purchase in just 15 years (from guided missile frigates, to OPVs, Landing docks, Subs, Light combat aircraft, Multi role fighters, Purpose-built attack helis, Anti submarine helis, Air defense missile systems, ground based Anti ship missile systems, combat drones, among others). The 3 previous leaderships before Aquino III and Duterte should’ve at least made some major steps in their obligation to finance their version of AFP modernization so that the suceeding leaderships could’ve already focused solely on big ticket item acquisition

I think back then i remember the AFP revising the old WW2 and Coldwar era weapons on use and scavenging and cannibalizing equipments from old stocks that was just laying low like the LAV-6 and converted trucks as SPAA.
I think there's even a project that making drones but i've heard the general behind that operation was also caught red handed and stopped the project. We only have two prototypes of them.
