What's really crazy about Pink Floyd's 1994 "The Division Bell World Tour, (that this Pulse Concert is part of), is the massiveness of the Tour and the stage itself. The stage, lighting and sound system are Pink Floyds, they had it built for this world tour, "The Division Bell World Tour. The tour ran from March to October 1994, with something like 110 concerts in 68 cities in 17 countries.
Actually, they built 3 stages that were exactually the same, lighting, rigs, sound systems, everything,... 3 in total. They needed 3 stages for the North American leg of the tour, because it took so long to load-in, set up and tear down and load-out.
Load-in and setup took 3 days and tear down and load-out took another 2 and 1/2 days, so they needed more than 1 stage to perform all the shows in North America. Over 50 trailer trucks transporting over 700 tons of steel with over a 100 person crew needed to do the job.
When the band arrived at the next city to perform, the stages, including light and rigs, were all setup and ready to go. After 3 or 4 shows in a city, the band left for the next city, and members of the crew packed up the stage. When the band arrived at the next city, another stage and equipment was all setup ready to go, then repeat, again and again.
It was the largest world tour ever and the logistics were off the charts, Pink Floyd does everything on a grand scale! This particular concert was near the end of the tour in October, it was at Earls Court in London.

I bought "The Wall" in 1980 for my 16 year old son. I played it all and read the lyrics. I was stunned.. I listened to it all over. At 2a.m. I got up and listened to it again. My son never got the album and I still have it.I am 83, and I think it's time I should give it to him. Your obvious strong reaction to Pink Floyd is extremely pleasing to me. Gilmore is truly the most talented guitarist in my. lifetime, and beyond. I wish you a long and happy life, enjoying beautiful music.

Went to this tour when they hit Pittsburgh. The concert was held outdoors at the old Three Rivers Stadium. The lightshow and sound system were unbelievable! They had speakers ringing the field, they had 'em ringing the mezzanine deck, they had speakers ringing the very top of the stadium. Hell! They even had speakers strung in a starburst pattern above the stadium! It was literally 360° surround sound. You didn't just hear the music, you felt it! Yet it was the cleanest sound system I ever heard at a concert. Pittsburgh City Council actually had them tone down their lightshow because they were afraid it would interfer with airliners landing at Pitt International Airport. 😂 And it was still amazing!

It's kind of hard to overstate or exaggerate the greatness that is Pink Floyd - David Gilmour live. Let this relinquish all doubt for future recommendations. I saw the concert live in Chicago (Soldier Field) that summer. As they neared the crescendo of this epic solo and the sides of that ball fell away to reveal a blinding light, the skies above lit up with lightning and rumbles of thunder adding the most dramatic effect you could possibly imagine to an already stunning display of light and sound and fury. It was as if God himself wanted in on the action! And knowing Floyd, they just may have arranged it it!!
"Sorrow" from Pulse next. And you got to hit "Wish You Were Here" from it as well. Dave does a great rendition here.
    Loving your journey, bro. ✌️

Aside from their early psychadelic years wth Syd Barret (previous to Dave), where they would wear these very dandy and colorful outfits, the bands posture and stance was always very casual. Wardrobe was not a worry for these guys, at all. What mattered was the performance and the show, no need for fancy outfits.
I was lucky to witness this display of human greatness back in 1994, in one of their shows in Lisbon/Portugal. I can't even describe it.

I will be there on Nov. 9 at Madison Square Garden, but there are more dates in NYC, LA, London and Rome, and perhaps other places as well by now. Also, David Gilmour has a new solo album coming out this fall. He released a music video featuring his daughter, Romany, a talented musician in her own right. The song is called 'Between Two Points' and features Romany on lead vocal and David on guitar. It's a haunting song and I can't get it out of my mind. While i never saw Pink Floyd live, I did see David Gilmour on his 2016 solo tour when it came through Chicago. He was 70 years old that year and still sounded amazing!

"Gilmour looks like he just came off the street". From the start in the 60s, Pink Floyd did NOT want to be "out front" "look at me" guys. Notice their photos were never on their album covers...VERY unusual back then. It's also why they were innovators in light shows and visuals at their live concerts.

Pulse is absolutely amazing. I love it.
But the 2016 performance by David Gilmour and his Band in Pompeii is sensational too. It’s my own favourite version of ‘Comfortably Numb’,
I was lucky enough to see the ‘One Night Only’ Cinema showing of David Gilmour’s return to the Pompeii Amphitheater, in 2016, with his Band. (Pink Floyd’s previous visit being in 1971, when they were filmed playing ‘Echoes’, in the Centre of the Amphitheater, with no audience.
And this version of ‘Comfortably Numb’, from that 2016 Show, is sensational. This time to an audience.
And what a light Show this has too. All in the stunning setting of this Roman Amphitheater.
David Gilmour at his stunning best, aged 70, at this performance. Genius.
Incredible. Hope you get to try this, you won’t regret it.
    Just my own feelings.

Can't really argue that this isn't one of the greatest live performances ever, but as far as greatest live guitar solos ever it's Stevie Ray Vaughn, doing "Texas Flood" live at the El Mocambo.
From o guy that lived through the sixties, seventies, and on.

P.S. Stevie Ray did this in a small venue. No lasers, killer stage etc.

"Sorrow "Pulse has an equally great solo. There were 13 shows. Mmates and I went to town on the weekends. It was mental. The Ferraris Lambos etc. Clubs were mental. Check out the crowd. Men are dressed like Nick Mason. People flew into town from all over the World for 1 of these shows. It was mental.

I'm glad you chose this one, rather than the version where David Mallet made ridiculous choices in the name of cinematography. I'm also glad there were commercials in between. Otherwise, you almost lost yourself early. We have generally been crying at the end of the long guitar solo of this masterpiece for years.

Suggestion: If you wanna see some live material from them that was made earlier than this, then I highly suggest watching the "Live in Pompeii" concert film from 1972. Although I love it, I do have to say all of the songs on it are pre-Dark Side of The Moon so the songs don't have exactly the same style as what you've already reacted to, but I would still check it out.

Well, here we go ... I agree that a hundred per cent of the Pulse live concert is worth your attention. But, also, it'd be interesting to see them in a different mode - playing live in the ancient, empty, half ruined Roman stadium in Pompei, Italy, way back in about 1971 I think it was. Search "echoes pink floyd' live. It takes a while to build, but it's very much worth the wait.

The Progressive Rock genre music produced in the 1970s is simply amazing. After your Pink Floyd deep-dive, I suggest that you check out some songs by other Prog bands like "Kansas", "Yes", and "Rush".

Joe, studio album versions are good, but live is when Pink Floyd is at their best. I believe the Pulse Concert is probably their best but there are other live performance that are great too. Check out Live at Pompei or Delicate Sound of Thunder. Oh hell, they're all great! Love your reactions. You are so genuine and it's ok to stop to avoid the copyright infringement, just not during a David Gilmore solo. LOL

Pink Floyd "Echoes (Part 1) live at Pompeii 1972 😉

Unlike most bands of the time Pink Floyd were low on personal showmanship they wanted people to be into the music and not them ,I saw them in a smallish venue in 1971 and you just about could not see them the stage very dak apart from a moving bubble projection behind them . Just that visual and the music was the aim , Of course over the years the light show became immens and they remained not very that visual, " Its not about us "
