I've seen some of these videos where people are commenting how its messed up their playing mexican parts, but im mexican and honestly i think its awesome just to have latinos getting more of a chance on the big screen. I saw miss bala last night and i loved it!

The problem is more about perpetuating stereotypes. I’m Mexican and Costa Rican and I’m super white. My cousins are red heads. The only representation of Latinos we get is dark skinned. WE ARE NOT ALL DARK SKINNED.
Puerto Ricans are very affectionate people (raised with many hugs and kisses) and sometimes it could be misunderstood, but among us we know it’s just respectful Boricua love.

When you grow up in a household thats only partially bilingual. Some words you learn, others you dont. The culture is with you, sometimes the accent is easy to do. Later on you even learn quicker
Ok so I’d never heard of Ismael until I watched this but I’m really impressed by him. He knew all the little details like the origin of the term ‘boricua’ and the fact that nobody says ‘broki’ or ‘gufiao’ anymore, as well as what a ‘cocolo’ is/was. Like all the tiny stuff that Gina faltered on, he knew. Who is this guy?! 😂 I would only add that ‘tirar’ is also used to mean hitting on someone. Like “ese tipo me está tirando” (“that guy is hitting on me”).
Their chemistry and comedic timing is just off charts! Plus, since iv'e seen this video (it's like the third time watching it) I use this slang on a literal daily basis. This is my life now.

Ok so I’d never heard of Ismael until I watched this but I’m really impressed by him. He knew all the little details like the origin of the term ‘boricua’ and the fact that nobody says ‘broki’ or ‘gufiao’ anymore, as well as what a ‘cocolo’ is/was. Like all the tiny stuff that Gina faltered on, he knew. Who is this guy?! 😂
I would only add that ‘tirar’ is also used to mean hitting on someone. Like “ese tipo me está tirando” (“that guy is hitting on me”).
