What made that section dangerous was that you had 3 gangs all in close proximity, all folks but all at war. You also had party crews fighting eachother. Cicero to Pulaski started getting more activity in the late 90s but wasnt and isn't as bad as the area further East. You also had some Insane and Almighty Popes on 62nd and Normandy and scattered around that area of Clearing but they were white boys and we all kind of laughed them off. The Polish kids were attracted to them and from Archer and Cicero to Pulaski there were a lot of Popes. North of all those Neighborhoods East of Pulaski was Latin Kings and East was Black Stones, 51st at the edge of Crown Town to 59th and Paulina. I think the reason Latin Kings and Black Stones were so tight was because of that. They even shared a corner on 51st and Ada. My inlaws live in Marquette Park 71st and Kedzie and I think it's mostly BDs there now. That area used to be KGBs from Kedzie to California but I see a lot of BDs when I am out that way. From what I can see and hear from my old friends and neighbors, 63rd from Harlem to Central is still a very safe/good neighborhood up to the North past Archer to Stickney and South past 63rd to Bedford Park/Nottingham Park. Summit has gotten worse since they locked up the Latin Kings leadership in the early 2000s because the Saints moved into Deep Summit and were at war with the Kings on 61st and 62nd as well as the GDs from South of 63rd but that isn't Clearing.
