I love Golden Curry soooooo much, I make it all the time, I’m making it tonight actually with red onion, steak, purple potatoes, broccoli, zucchini, and edamame! It’s going to be amazing!
Sounds so good, I put celery stalk as well and then puree them cook it for 2-3 minutes again and then add boiled chicken. It's one of my fav dish and also because I don't like big cooked onions 😂
I use the second brand of curry starter quite a bit they have several flavors and styles available. Good stuff, I would have added some celery and parsnips for flavor contrast.
As an indian ,I love how every region in asia adopted curry and assimilated it into their own local cuisine . Giving their own twists to this legendary "genre of dishes" . The japanese version looks like something between a stew and a regular curry ... but it sure looks tasty , would love to try it !!
@@amerhakum5566 oh ya lol but they didnt change the dish much and adopted it directly as indian or anglo-indian cuisine, most probably because they came in contact of it just 200-300 yrs ago. Curry in the east however went through a 1000+ yr of evolution, was travelling with buddhism wherever dharma went curry went with it😂
I still prefer Indian curry... It has more kick than Japan one... I have try Japanese one which states that extra spicy, found out it still less spicy than a regular Indian curry
I love making myself some slow-cooked golden curry, using the s&b or daiso brand curry base with potato, carrot and onion. The veggies are so soft they fall apart in your mouth!
I love that S&B Golden Curry but usually get the Extra Hot and then before doing anything caramelize the French cut onion in just a little bit of oil for an hour or so until it's nice and brown. It's a real pain because you have to stir every minute or so or it'll burn, but it adds a lot of sweetness to the curry. Then add a clove of grated garlic and a similar amount of grated ginger, cook those with the onion until the garlic is fragrant, and then immediately dump in chicken broth, diced chicken thigh meat, diced potato, and diced carrot. Cook until the chicken is nearly done, add the curry brick, and finish the cooking. I think it comes out so flavorful and the added sweetness from the caramelized onion and ginger really balances the extra heat well. When I do a similar setup with the Vermont Curry hot I think the sweetness dominates the flavor too much so I like the S&B better. Though if I wanted a quick curry without going to the trouble of caramelizing the onions and grating garlic and ginger into it I'd definitely pick the Vermont Curry over the S&B.
I LOVE Japanese curry. I get the S&B Golden Curry myself. I'm not a great cook, but I make some pretty kickass Japanese curry. One of my favorite dishes ever and now I'm craving some.
I tried to find some video like this but nothing better than yours Your channel is the only place I am waiting for new video everyday. Thanks for that ❤️
I have the second one I haven’t used it yet thanks you made it look so simple 👍🏽 oh a little trick I use to help keep my cutting board in place I put a wet towel underneath it 😉 thanks for sharing another great video 🥰
the golden curry is not a "curry kit" it's just the curry..you make the rest and use this curry as the seasoning. We have three "levels" of this available in most grocery stores in the US. The golden, red and green "bars" that you use to make your curry with. Add a can of coconut milk to really drive in that curry home run.
I just tried Curry for the first time the other day, I had no Idea they made Curry home kits! Thanks, Dancing Bacons! You always seem to teach me so much, while also entertaining me :)
Aha! I now understand what I was doing wrong with the Golden Curry mix all this time! I was using the whole package and getting paste as opposed to curry. Now I know what to do and it will be better next time. I love me some Japanese curry and loved what I had in Japan even though it was CoCo Curry Ichibanya--next time I go I am definitely going to the "Battleground of Curry", JInbocho, as per Mike Chen.
My mom uses the "Golden Curry" brand whenever shes cooking a chicken curry . She only uses 1 square of the bar.. still taste better . The food became like a high quality.. feel like im eating in a restaurant that serves curry.
I make a really lazy version of Japanese curry using the blocks of roux like the second one, but with canned vegetables (potatoes, carrots) and frozen veg (peas and corn) and frozen vegetarian chicken alternative. As long as you can open a can you can make it. I also think that the softness of the canned carrots matches the curry flavour. It tastes a lot like old school British curry which I think is essentially how curry reached Japan. Modern British style curry isn't thickened with flour like Japanese style is. In fact, Japanese curry tastes a lot like British (brown) gravy with curry powder added, which is probably the basis for the dish originally 😂
LoL was just watching this and thinking wow this is a great video because I swear I can smell the food and I figured out it was my roommate downstairs cooking his dinner.
DB, the side of your vegetable peeler has a tool to remove the eye of the potato so you don't have to use a knife. :) It's like a tiny scoop. The second curry isn't really instant but so good! We love making Coco Ichibanya style with spinach leaves and shrimp in the curry. 💯
Ha, Ha, Ha - I love when you speed preparation up! I’ve never had Curry. I would opt for number 2 or 3. Meat sitting in plastic pouch at room temperature isn’t tempting to me. Thank you DancingBacons!
I use the golden curry a lot here in the states. I have used, Beef, Chicken, turkey, Pork, and Shrimp. Rather than water, I use stock. Beef or chicken or seafood, and a half of a can of coconut milk. Really comes out good.
You made me so nervous with the knife and potato 😱 If your peeler has I little hook or circle on the side, it’s made so you can get all the “eyes” off the potatoes out! 😊 Your videos are awesome and can’t wait for more!
That's nice I like the first and last one. A lot easier. I have the other day got a different pot noodle. It is a ITSU. Sesame Chick'n and Udon Noodles and a vegan hand crafted Broth The noodles are fresh from South Korea. You also get bits of spring onions inside the pot. Yummy Wow what a difference taste for me. That was a first for me. I will be getting it again and the Beef one too. 😃😃😃😃
Just watched your vending machine upload where you eat chicken feet!!! Thank you... My favorite channel!! Tell Mrs. Dancing bacons hello from California!
Golden curry is sold in the Asian section of my grocery store, I honestly would have preferred the first though. I wish they sold premade curry with vegetables like that in stores in the us :D
I mean it's obviously no competition for the three curries shown in the video, but the Cup of Noodles Curry is actually pretty tasty for something that only requires pouring boiling water into and then eating three minutes later. It's my go to when I want curry while also wanting to be lazy and cheap. Eg too lazy to cook a proper curry or too cheap to go out to a restaurant to get it.
S&B make curry kits like the first one but without meat, only some veggies. You could just add your own protein if you want but I like it the way it is. I just had it for dinner actually lol.
Here is my question to you: Was it worth the effort of preparing the vegetables and meat in that Golden Curry? I guess it breaks down to what is more important - freshness vs. convenience. I enjoyed the high-speed chopping footage - the sounds are super satisfying for the vegetables!
another point to consider here is the price will be much cheaper for the portion size compare to ready-make curry package. I make these to eat while often. You can make a lot of portions for cheap and save the leftover in the freezer for longer.
@@ElluFishi That is an excellent point. And another is that you can tweak the ingredients to suit your taste. I might not want chicken in my curry, and choose paneer or extra-firm tofu instead.
