Colin Mcrae Rally 2 is the ONE. The one of the few games that I bought, with vrally and Grand prix 3. Still have today the cdrom on my optic drive to play! And I bought Android version to! Great great great!

DON'T buy the remaster, just imagine CMR 2 with exessive motion blur, way to digital steering and lots of slipping clutch action. It's fine for mobile, but just plain garbage on PC
It's amazing that 8 years later, Dirt 2 still looks great! I'll always go back and drift on some of those tracks.

True, but a game with bad physics & sound is still a bad game. The physics in CMR2 were not just unrealistic, but also not fun, considering for example how well you could drift your car in Screamer 2. IMO the good ratings CMR2 received back in the day were heavily influenced by the awesome graphics.

Its kinda like it rotates on the centre of the car. Its really weird. And understeer doesnt exist because of that..
Nah, neither can hold water to Richard Burns Rally. DIrt Rally is really the only Dirt game that is actually good. All other have this floaty feeling of the cars.

Dirt Rally is an amazing Rally Simulator. It will be very hard for ANYBODY, even Codemasters to make something even better than that.
random roads in Dirt 4 will be a key feature (if done right), because a big part of rallying is about adapting to whatever lies ahead
rally simulator with shitty physics? no way. Dirt rally is just act like a simulator. 140kph feels like that car barely moving, and suffering the engine all the time, because impossible to spin the wheels. brakes also shitty. Flat out 2 eas more realistic...
They did it in 2004, Richard Burns Rally, said to be the best rally sim of all time.
Yepp. RBR was king. Dirt rally is full of assists. The FFB is crap with fake effects.
People think it's a simulator because they are used to casual crap. It's not.

No, they are not even slightly better or close to realistic. On simulation mode, which is meant to be the most sim like, the car has way way too much grip. Its stupid.

Dirt 2 had an awesome menu, music, and single player. It was/is a great game. Dirt 3 is fun, but didn't have that exciting feel Dirt 2 had. I'm getting a copy of Dirt 4 opening day, it looks awesome and I'm sure it'll be fun. I'm a fan of Forza 6, but I think Dirt 4 will dominate, I love the off-road tracks. Dirt 2 - Malaysia Rally Track!!!!
You are so right, Dirt 2 was one of the best racing games ever. I also loved the Baja Landrush Track, always great battles with the CPUs. For me it was also emotional, cause Colin McRea died and also David Mirra

Dirt2 was super fun, like you said, the single player mode was superb.
Wow, so much love for DiRT2 career. I'm playing it right now (33% finished) and I'm already bored. You unlock all racing modes very quickly, and with them new car categories and now it's all on repeat and some new track here and there. DiRT 1 was the most fun I had in rally game (I played it before DiRT2 even came out), especially with the wheel from the interior, and interior view in DiRT2 is impressive, especially watersplash, but watersplash is the one element that makes it useless, as you're essentialy blind for second or two. Driving model is good but not as good as DiRT1 - a step towards arcade
Oh god, I still remember when I was playing Colin Mcrae Rally 2005 on my PSP before, driving on rocks so I oculd do cool tricks and jumping off a hill on a map a I forgot.
The jump in graphics quality from CM1 and CMR2 is incredible, RIP Colin, you were a real legend.

Rally 3 still looks pretty damn good all things considered. Dirt Rally is a return to form in terms of the sim side, and the pinnacle of the series. Dirt was a savvy business move, though. It was more accessible, and brought in more casual fans.
And to be fair, at the time they produced DIRT, that's exactly what Colin himself was getting into, entering the X-Games etc.
#DirtRally has 9 tracks and is not much more than a demo disc. No ghost car time attacks, no real online features, tiny WRC season, awfully unfair/fake AI on the weak supercross events. Unplayable on gamepad. Total con.

Dirt 2 was so fun. I know it was a pretty big departure from the series overall, but was pretty awesome in its own right. I've still got my old disc, but I do wish licensing issues didn't prevent its release on platforms like Steam. (Same for Dirt 3 now, as well - it was recently removed from Steam because of licensing.) Massively looking forward to Dirt 4!

colin mcrae rally: low quality interior styling (it's a ps1 game so)
gran turismo 6: no interior styling at all for half of the cars in the game
10/20 cars against 1200 cars. No one would render EVERY SINGLE CAR

I still have my copy of Colin McRae Rally for PS1, but I hadn't played another game in the series until Dirt 4 which I picked up a few days ago.
Really enjoying Dirt 4 so far.
biggest problem with dirt games until Dirt Rally was size of roads... srsly they are huge, if you look at actual rally stages some roads barely fit 1 car.

Great videos Tech Master Tricks, only thing that is bugging me is the low bitrate you're using (causing lots of blockiness), use CRF or higher bitrate (depending on your encoding software)

Whats so wrong with an arcade game. It's a real challenge on the highest difficulty, and its fun casually playing it with friends in lunch breaks! (everyone got it as its free+plus it runs on most every laptop). I might get Dirt rally/4 if i'm still interested in the future.

Wow rally 2 looks really good, the fact that it runs in the ps1 makes it mind blowing
I still play Dirt 3 and whilst it's a bit cheesy in places, I actually really enjoy it and the difficulty slider is excellent to ensure you actually have some challenge. The fact it runs on older hardware while looking pretty good is a bonus.

he was called "rollin mc crash" for a reason. he drove very angry and wasn´t still that used to enduro rallyeing. he should have stayed in the WRC instead of the paris-dakar typ of rallyes.

It was Network Q Rally Championship (1996) that originally got me hooked on Rally games.
And I still think it's one of the most important ones, since it was really the first to have long stages with proper uneven surfaces and a damage model.
Heck, you even had to repair your car between stages, and often you didn't have enough time to repair it all.
Epic stuff, but man the graphics was bad.
The gameplay was awesome. It was really cool how you could set up the gear ratios exactly how you wanted, a feature that no other rally game has. Also cool was that it had time penalty for false start, again a feature that no other rally game has.
Yeah, it was ahead of it's time.
It even had some properly long stages and endurance races.
It was pretty darn neat for it's time. :)
I know the 20-minute Pundershaw. But my favorites always were Tatton Park and Rother Valley.
Let's not be too nostalgic, this game lives on with DosBox. It also lives on inside other games, did you ever notice that CMR 2005 uses the same sound effect for the crowds?

Yeah, International Rally Championship (1997) and Colin McRae Rally (1998) were my favourites, even though the graphics on the first were naff. Maybe it was the rally cars of that era in all fairness. CMR1 had so many cool stages though and felt super fast in some of the cars, not to mention the Lancia Delta, Audi & RS200! It would be great if they had every one of the group A, group B and WRC cars up to 2002 in a remastered game :)
Original CMR was good fun! Especially, when you found out, you could "glide" your vehicle on certain angles, when you hit something, causing major amount of rollovers and spectacular camera "shakes" and dozens of sound effects.

What was the point in Colin McRae Rally 2005? No different to 04.
KJER ERRT Yes but 'Championship Mode' in 04 was more or less the same as 'Career Mode'. Released one year apart, you can't help but think they should of spent more time on 5.
The most important thing You all forgotten.. CMR04 was realistic simulator (at the times released), while CMR2005 was purely arcade.
Nicky Grist was the co-driver's voice in 2005, I think that 04 was Derek Ringer.

It's like the casual party-favor-spinoff of the series.
Domnixs I didn't even finish it, went straight back to playing Dirt 3
