Apparently pretty common, although I only learned about that having 2. First: 3 hours of pushing from transition(10 cm). Second: Transition whilst using the bathroom. Midwives start pestering me to get off the toilet. I'm wiping, damnit! Last one was 3 hours of pushing; I think I've got time to finish cleaning my butt. ....Nope. 7 minutes from transition. Almost had a toilet baby because I was willfully ignoring my midwives advice. At least my tushie was clean! 😅

Our baby Finnegan was born at 26 weeks(1lb15oz) He's been in the NICU for 7 months ! We had to keep our masks on the whole time too. Tomorrow we get to take him home !!! 🥰 I'm so glad your stay was short, but I bet it was rough anyway.
congratulations! I was in the NICU for about 3 months as a newborn, and my parents have told me about how stressful it was. wishing you and your little one all the best
If you want a lie in, my mum taught us how to read the clock (specifically 7am) and that was when we could go wake her up. We could play in our rooms or dress up whatever we wanted, but we weren’t allowed to leave the baby proofed room until 7am and that meant she could sleep in a bit longer.
We got an alarm clock from Amazon that you set a time they are allowed to be up and it turns Green for the little ones so they know if it's red they have to stay in their rooms if it's green they can come wake up mommy.
my parents had a little sun lamp in my room that would automatically light it self at 6 am. and only when the light was on was I allowed to leave. and wake them up.
@@kennedisly8210 I think i had one of those. My parents set it to like 7: 30 and until then we had to stay in our rooms, the only thing we could let for was the bathroom. This brings back so much nostalgia!
I'm sitting here lmao because no one EVER talks about how huge your toddler looks once you have a newborn as well. But this is so common. And hilarious. Love you guys. Keep up the great parenting.
Mixing up names is actually due to the overlap of how our neurons categorize people, the people we’re closest to have the most neural overlap because we have so many memories and emotions associated with them.
When they weren’t on the other podcasts I knew the baby must have arrived. Congrats you guys and to the new big brother Wes! And yay he stayed in until November! It was scary in the video when she was talking about the guys new office they told her ‘IF you’re still pregnant in November’
I can't imagine being in that place where you'd downvote a new baby video. You have to click on these videos. So to click on a video just so you can downvote it. Wow!
Ariel looks frickin incredible. Ned looks like the responsibility of being a dad just doubled down and he feels it. But also, still looks great. You guys are awesome honestly.
After my c section they kept insisting I go for a walk I refused cause I was tired then at one point I said ok I'll go. Well my husband and I went for a 30 minute walk around. I came back and they were like " oh we ment a 5 minute walk down the hall"
I was like 2 when my little brother came home from the hospital, and the first thing I did was bend down and BITE him him on the forehead, however my parents thought I was kissing him until they heard him crying. He’s okay tho.
How the hell did she have a baby she looks amazing! when I had my daughter I felt like I got run over by a reindeer and probably looked like it after 2-3 weeks
THE THUMBNAIL CAME UP IN MY FEED AND I ACTUALLY YELLED OUTLOUD, “YAYYYYYYYY” ALSO, COMMENTS SPOILED THE NAME REVEAL FOR ME BUT I DON’T CARE, FINN AND WES! I CANNOT! MOM & DAD, I’M SO HAPPY FOR YOU! YAY FULMER FAM!!
The Wes time is indeed SUPER important! When my younger sister was born when I was 3, my mother had to really be with her holding her 24/7 she had acid reflux and my dad had always been working or he was spending time with my sister, getting to know her and such and nobody ever explained to me that they still loved me, I just was just somehow convinced that they didn't want me anymore. Unfortunately, this lasted for around a year and I now have a sense of rejection from my parents and am constantly afraid of them abandoning me. And while I know now that my sister really needed my mom's attention and my dad had to work, my emotional needs just weren't met and it really left its scars. I'm so happy that Ned's spending as much time as possible with Wes while dealing with this change because I think that he'll remember Finley coming home positively.
whoa... I didn't realise that anyone had gone through the same thing that I did. I had a similar situation; my brother was six weeks early, my mom was spending all her time with him, and the drama that had happened the morning he was born left me scared, confused, and feeling like I'd been left. It's been a good thirteen years and I still *hate* that feeling and have abandonment issues that I haven't completely worked out. I feel you, friend

Hi! My name is Finley and I'm a non binary who changed my name about six months ago. I felt kind of odd and left out seeing as I never really saw my name anywhere and it kind of made me self conscious that I had picked the wrong one. Seeing that my inspirations named their son with the same name as me just reminded me how unique I should always feel with it. It just seemed like a sign that two of my favorite creators and online inspirations had something to do with it (and my favorite try guy of course). Congratulations ned and ariel!
The way you describe Wes acting around Finn is the cutest thing I've heard. It is really touching my heaet when you explain how he asks for permission to hold his hand and love/hug him.
I am a labor and delivery nurse and I absolutely loved this story!! Ariel, you are SO strong, like your body just knew what to do lol! Ned you are the perfect support person, I wish all the dads had your instincts. Lol Ariel, it’s always just 2 fingers and we open them like a peace sign to measure dilation and you are totally right some women are 12cm (baby’s head is 12cm) lol but at that point we calculate how many cm are left like 1 left then we say she’s 9. What an amazing delivery story!
:-) I was missing 2-3 cm and had to get a c-section. And my child's head was a great deal larger than average. I'm really relieved it really wasn't my fault I guess?
I remember my labor nurses telling me "You'll only work this hard your first labor, the next babies just fall right out." And the more I listen to other moms it seems in general that's true.
To be fair to Ned; my brother took a bath and combed his beard (the beard-combing took at _least_ five minutes) while his wife gave birth to their first child, because he, and I quote, "wanted [daughter] to have high standards for first impressions." His wife, having given birth several times before, was only mildly exasperated
My second baby was unmedicated and once it was go time there was absolutely no stopping her. The doctor didn’t make it in time so a nurse delivered. And I didn’t push. She just kinda popped out on her own.
I had the exact same experience! I actually wanted an epidural, like Ariel, and when her shoulders came out on their own with a contraction I asked the nurse “is the epidural coming, that one hurt!” She just laughed and was like “you won’t need it anymore,” *hands me baby* 🤦🏼♀️😅
I was watching the Japanese pancakes this morning and realised that Ariel was pregnant, so searched it up and sure enough they had an announcement up since 5 months ago and a gender reveal video 3 months ago and now thisssss?? Eventful day Congratulations guys !
like fr at that point i was like NED WTF and the. when he said ‘the contractions weren’t too bad at that point’ and his wife was considering an EPIDURAL
I think it was actually Ariel’s choice, since this is her 2nd baby. From what I’ve heard, giving birth is easier the second time, so she’s probably not too, too worried like she was with Wes.
You can tell it what hard for both of them to talk about their NICU experience. Ned’s face and voice just 🥺 I’m glad baby Finn is okay now and home, but damn, that must have been so hard.
The nicu experience was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. My baby girl was born at 28 weeks at 1 pound and she was there for almost three months. The nurses there a wonderful, but honestly nothing hurts more than having to see your baby behind glass and having to wear a mask around them. I’m glad they’re shedding light on the experience because I think more people need to understand how heartbreaking it is to see a child in there. I’m so glad baby is home and healthy ❤️ I can’t wait to see videos with him in the future
So, in your case, it is true when people say after having one baby, going through the birth of more children (minus any big complications) are much easier?
This hurts to watch now. It feels very bittersweet (I don’t know how to describe the feeling that I feeling right now) I wish all of those involve, the best.
This video is making me so nervous yet exited because my gf and I are adopting a little baby of our own (we’re lesbians for context, and the mom can’t care for the baby so we’re adopting em’) and I’ve been really nervous about the actual date when we have to go to the hospital. (We can’t be there during labor, but we can for the birth) Love this podcast, and thanks for listening to my nervous baby rant.
You’re going to be amazing parents to that little one. I realize I’m two months late so hopefully there in your loving home by now, but if the date is still coming up, take time some to relax! I hope it was/is a healthy delivery and a healthy baby! 🤍
@@michelledsilva8950 not just pregnancy but birth. The cervix has dilated to 10 centimetres before so it's easier the next time around.

i just came to the conclusion, idk why but, ned is like super maximum masculine but not toxic masculinity
I agree. He is competitive and confident but he definitely regards Ariel as his equal if not superior and is so tender with his family and friends.
that is such an accurate description of ned. he just excused this super respectful and wholesome male energy
He's all the good masculine things without the socialized issues that make it toxic. He's a great guy anyway but he probably had to put a lot of work in to get rid of the toxic traits, I respect the hell out of him for it

He's been on the West Coast so long he has picked it up.

If you want a lie in, my mum taught us how to read the clock (specifically 7am) and that was when we could go wake her up. We could play in our rooms or dress up whatever we wanted, but we weren’t allowed to leave the baby proofed room until 7am and that meant she could sleep in a bit longer.
that is so smart i love that lmao
We got an alarm clock from Amazon that you set a time they are allowed to be up and it turns Green for the little ones so they know if it's red they have to stay in their rooms if it's green they can come wake up mommy.
my parents had a little sun lamp in my room that would automatically light it self at 6 am. and only when the light was on was I allowed to leave. and wake them up.

Wait the second baby is already born!?? I felt like the pregnancy was announced like last month
Its so encouraging to see a Ned and Ariel raising a nice family together.

I had the exact same experience! I actually wanted an epidural, like Ariel, and when her shoulders came out on their own with a contraction I asked the nurse “is the epidural coming, that one hurt!” She just laughed and was like “you won’t need it anymore,” *hands me baby* 🤦🏼♀️😅

The nicu experience was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. My baby girl was born at 28 weeks at 1 pound and she was there for almost three months. That's the magic of the second child for ya 👍 not sure why no one tells pregnant women, but the second child is usually a LOT faster
Well my first child was 20 hours labor and my second one was 8 hours, it was faster yes but still too much for me haha
My second and third labors were actually longer than my first! The pushing stages were shorter than the first though.
