    Superb stuff - much better seeing it on video rather than in photos.

    that was wicked awsome. i wish i could have something like that. i would actually go back to playing with toys if i had a battle ground like that. great job.

    Being a Canadian I really wanted to wargame Juno beach. I studied this segment of the D-Day landings as much as possible. I then examined the beaches that the Canucks hit and settled on WN28 sector. I spent 1/2 year in prep and another half in putting it together. Most of the buildings are scratch built. When we gamed the results were very close to history!
    The table has been disassembled now but I can quickly set up a beach landing in a matter of hours.

    @HoScaleGeek
    Thanks for your kind words. This video of my Juno Beach set up was actually created for wargaming. It wasn't really supposed to be a diorama for display but I guess it turned out that way! There ws no stop motion used for that tank running over everywhere. It was actually a 1/72 scale R/C model. I just slowed the video down a bit since the tank moved very quickly.

    thats a great gaming board and very nice work you have done on the terrain

    Pretty cool. I do WWII 20mm too, though I never tried a Juno beach landing.

    Most of the buildings are made from scratch. The materials used are foam board, paintable wallpaper, and plastic strips bought from a hobby store. The trees are also made from scratch.

    The Tiger was only in the video. When I actually gamed the WN28 sector of Juno Beach I had the accurate forces on the table. It was scary the way the game went. Very historically accurate!
    Yes putting up and disassembling would be a major pain. I had the game set up for about a year and now it's dissembled. I haven't put it up since but right now I'm playing a skirmish game where Brit airborne are trying to take back a village in Normandy from some Germans.

    wow i went to juno beach specifically to study this and it is surprisingly accurate!

  • @PPCLIcanuck
    @PPCLIcanuck  15 лет назад

    Yes you are correct. Congratulation on spotting one the of the inaccuracies of the gaming table. I had a 1/72 scale R/C Tiger I so I used it in the video.

    @syro666,
    I spent a year building it. I studied numerous maps and photos. My section of beach is based on half of sector WN28. It is accurate. Yes there were not Tigers in the area and in my game I had no Tigers. That was just creative work there.

    A good question but I honestly don't have a number. It took 1/2 a year to build and most of the terrain and buildings are scratch built. The figures are plastic one's which were given to me by a friend. I'd guess I spent maybe a $150 on supplies and such.

    The Table looks well made

  • @PPCLIcanuck
    @PPCLIcanuck  13 лет назад

    @sgtnick09,
    Most if not all the terrain was made from scratch. I never really added up the costs of it. Most of the buildings were made from scratch too using foam board, strips of plastic, and printed patterns from the net. The tanks were model kits I've built over the years and all the figures were plastic Airfix ones that a friend gave me. So overall I'd say less than a couple of hundred but the effort and time I put into it was huge. About a year's worth of labour.

    awesome setup

  • @PPCLIcanuck
    @PPCLIcanuck  15 лет назад

    All the terrain was made from scratch. About 90% of the buildings were made from scratch. The figures are plastic and the vehicles are 1/72 scale models.

    Tigers were not on the area of landings, that panzer 4 was either from the 352 infantry or the 21 panzer.

  • @PPCLIcanuck
    @PPCLIcanuck  16 лет назад

    Thanks! I took almost a year because I built everything from scratch. The scale is 20mm or 1/72 scale.

  • @PPCLIcanuck
    @PPCLIcanuck  16 лет назад

    They are 1/72 scale plastic figures you can by at any hobby store.

    Unfortunately I can't remember the game but check your old PC wargames for WAV audio files. I then used a freeware audio editing program to put all the sound effects together and then I looped them to fill a CD with 80 minutes of battle sounds.

    @HoScaleGeek Stop motion? Are you referring to the Tiger tank? If so then its actually a remote control Tiger, I have one in winter markings.

  • @PPCLIcanuck
    @PPCLIcanuck  16 лет назад

    That's a 1/72 scale R/C Tiger I from Dragon. I was able to "drive it" over the gaming table. It moved a little bit too fast so I tried to slow it down in the video.

  • @watthehell1023

    That is very cool must have taken you a long time to finish?

  • @PPCLIcanuck
    @PPCLIcanuck  16 лет назад

    I didn't buy the game so to speak. I made the terrain from scratch. Most of the buildings are made from scratch. The figures are 1/72 scale plastic ones. The tanks are model kits. The rules I use are home made too.

    How you get that so cool? and where you get all material

  • @PPCLIcanuck
    @PPCLIcanuck  16 лет назад

    Nice guess but no it's not America's Army sounds. I actually took the wav files from an old PC wargame and made an 80 minute loop of them onto a CD.

    It's quite alright, I used to put kingtigers and even panthers when war gaming omaha beach.
    Putting that diorama and disassembling it must be a pain in the ass!!

  • @PPCLIcanuck
    @PPCLIcanuck  15 лет назад

    The video or the terrain? If it's the terrain I researched what that particular beach looked like and with the aid of foam board and other material built it to 1/72 scale.

  • @PPCLIcanuck
    @PPCLIcanuck  15 лет назад

    Yes you are correct across country that'd be their top speed. On a good road they can hit 24 mph. I know my Tiger in the video is too fast. I even slowed down the video as much as possible. I was using a 1/72 scale R/C model and it unfortunately goes pretty fast.

  • @PPCLIcanuck
    @PPCLIcanuck  15 лет назад

    Yes I could have done that but I noticed that even slowing it down once caused a graininess in the footage. No I didn't do any stop motion.

    your missing key pill boxes there on Juno beach, If your looking for a exact copy just follow the battle maps the will have German positions on them as well. Also no tigers in that area

  • @Milkedsplooge
    @Milkedsplooge 15 лет назад

    I actually did wargame Juno beach once, I chose the german side(as always)and trust me , the 716 infantry(or was it the 352, I forgot) sucks!!I think I got a tank or two from the 21 panzer, but that was it.
    Have fun playing with the battle between the Brits and germans!!
