I ADORE the kung fu panda trilogy. It's my star wars. Even the third one has a strong emotional core with Po and his two dads. Po's journey is in my opinion the quintessential hero's journey. Amazing villains (and Kai, still very good), powerful emotions, incredible characters, exceptional score, EPIC fight scenes, everything is just outstanding. Also, megamind and prince of Egypt are masterpieces and you can't convince me otherwise.
Dreamworks is one of my most favourite studios. I love the fact that you gave How to Train your dragon the respect it deserves. For me personally all these movies belong on awesome tier

Fantastic list Austin! Dreamworks is def a top notch studio & all 3 HTTYD films are in my all time animated top 10. Only ones that rank higher are few Miyazaki films & Iron Giant at #1 (bid nostalgia factor like you have for Shrek).

Spirit of Stallion is my favorite movie. It's incredible, and so majestic, the shots, the music is one of the greatest scores of all time. The characters are so well developed and the overall story and movie is Amazing!!! Phenomenal movie
Both franchise had Hans Zimmer as composer which really elevates the movies a lot. Yes that Dubois theme song in Madagascar 3 was from Hans Zimmer himself. I swear he was having way too much fun making Dubois' theme song 😂😂😂
The Road to El Dorado is possibly my favorite dreamworks movie, it breaks my heart to hear you say the songs are forgettable, it’s so good! 😂 it’s one of the most underrated for sure. I might be biased though since a lot of it is inspired by Latin American culture and I grew up around that.
Lol I love the meme tier 😂 over the hedge is basically my shrek, i had that on dvd and I watched it a million times as a kid. and yess, the first madagascar is a classic!
I seem to have most of your movies in the same ballpark here! (Though I would maybe put Flushed Away lower) The biggest disagreements I have between you seem to be Shrek Forever After (personally liked it as a more satisfying conclusion to Shrek but the last two are divisive anyways), El Dorado which I think is at least better than Kung Fu Panda 3 and Flushed Away and lower than Chicken Run, and Kung Fu Pandas 1 and 2 which I put in the same awesome tiers that Shreks 1 and 2, How to Train Your Dragons 1 and 2, and Prince of Egypt! (I just felt so much from Po’s journeys in those two!)
@@AustinBurke fair point. I just find shrek 4 to be underrated but I know that a lot of people don’t like it and that’s ok. As long as everyone knows that shrek 3 is terrible and started the downfall of the shrek franchise
I think you got parts of Madagascar 1+2 mixed up aha. Alex bites Marty on the bum in the first movie after his lion instincts can only think of Steak. Madagascar 2 is where Alex and Marty fall out due to Marty feeling at home whilst Alex had lost everything after being humiliated at a lion fight and his dad disowned him pretty much and Alex doesn’t know if Marty is black with white stripes or white with black stripes

I don't think the third how to train your dragon is any worse than the second one, they're both really good. If anything I think the third one is a perfect mix of the action and war-like scenes from the second one and the super impactful speechless scenes from the first movie, the second film also has the impactful part where Stoick dies but that's kind of it and my other problem with the second one is that the side characters (Snotlout, Ruffnut, Tuffnut and Fishlegs) are SO annoying and they are also in the third one but they don't get that much screen time. I think the character growth and the dragons leaving are SUPER IMPACTFUL and really show Huccup's character growth throughout the trilogy, the end actually made me cry. Also in my opinion Grimel is just a way better villan than Draco but the best how to train your dragon villian is still Viggo from the Netflix series. Also its kinda weird that hiccup is just hanging out with his Mom for more than half of the movie while the anoying side characters are 'dealing with Draco'. Overall they're both absolutely amazing movies but I think the third one is a tad bit better than the second but of course the first is still the best. Also if you haven't seen the how to train your dragon TV shows and Netflix series yet, your really should, they bring a lot of clarity to many things in the second and third movies (they take place between the first and second movies) sorry for the long comment xD

I actually really loved Abominable. I went to go see it with my sister and 2 of my friends a couple days after it came out and we were all crying at the end. Pearl and Dreamworks should start making more movies together. Pearl also did an amazing job working with Netflix to make Over The Moon. I loved that movie so much. The characters and songs were really really enjoyable. I also noticed that Ken Jeong and Phillipa Soo played Chang’E and Gobi and they are both amazing actors

Actually find this to be a pretty good ranking actually. Like, very few I'd disagree with. Honestly I think it's generous to Shark Tale to have it allowed to stay out of Awful - easily the only Dreamworks film that deserves the moniker. I generally would hold the Dragon series over the Shrek series including having the second HTTYD number 1. I'm probably not overall as high on the Madagascar films and the post-first Panda movies. But, yeah, I liked the Bad Guys too and just all round can't find much wrong with these tiers. I understand your choices, but I have two kids and I got to enjoy TROLLS more and more at every watching. I would've brushed it away as an adult if my annoying kids didn't insist in watching it so many times. TROLLS became more enjoyable and SING got more and more annoying. Also, PEABODY and SHERMAN is higher on my list. There is something I love about it. It's so different than any other kids movie. Kind of like Captain Underpants. Flushed Away is on the MEH tier for me. I've seen this movie TWICE and I still can't tell you the story.

I feel like The Bad Guys was such a surprisingly good movie that it made my opinion on that animation style change. Before, I liked it, but it didn't do much for me. But after this movie, I appreciate it more.

I could not disagree more with a number of your tier choices. First of all, Prince of Egypt having forgettable songs? NEVER. It's a freaking masterpiece and its soundtrack is just INCREDIBLE. The first 2 Kung Fu Panda films should be in Awesome, the third is Good. Chicken Run should be higher than Curse of the Wererabbit because Chicken Run is PEAK Nick Park and Wererabbit is closer to the lower rung of his work. Chicken Run was made round the same time that he was making great films after the other in Wrong Trousers and Close Shave.
@@AustinBurke In what universe is Through Heaven's Eyes AVERAGE? It's like invigorating and almost brings a tear to the eye. Yeah, we're not going to agree on this. I hate to say it but you're a minority for Prince of Egypt. A TON of people LOVE the soundtrack for the film.
Now remember, I said two of them were really good, that is one… Oh I don’t care if I’m in the minority, I know I love the movie and that’s all that really matters! No need to try and tear others down out of anger. It’s just a movie… from 20+ years ago lol

Both franchise had Hans Zimmer as composer which really elevates the movies a lot. Yes that Dubois theme song in Madagascar 3 was from Hans Zimmer himself. I swear he was having way too much fun making Dubois' theme song 😂😂😂
The Road to El Dorado is possibly my favorite dreamworks movie, it breaks my heart to hear you say the songs are forgettable, it’s so good! 😂 it’s one of the most underrated for sure. I might be biased though since a lot of it is inspired by Latin American culture and I grew up around that.

I seem to have most of your movies in the same ballpark here! (Though I would maybe put Flushed Away lower)
The biggest disagreements I have between you seem to be Shrek Forever After (personally liked it as a more satisfying conclusion to Shrek but the last two are divisive anyways), El Dorado which I think is at least better than Kung Fu Panda 3 and Flushed Away and lower than Chicken Run, and Kung Fu Pandas 1 and 2 which I put in the same awesome tiers that Shreks 1 and 2, How to Train Your Dragons 1 and 2, and Prince of Egypt! (I just felt so much from Po’s journeys in those two!)
Shrek 4 is way too low. Also putting shrek 3 higher feels like a crime considering shrek 3 isn’t even canon

I think you got parts of Madagascar 1+2 mixed up aha. Alex bites Marty on the bum in the first movie after his lion instincts can only think of Steak. Madagascar 2 is where Alex and Marty fall out due to Marty feeling at home whilst Alex had lost everything after being humiliated at a lion fight and his dad disowned him pretty much and Alex doesn’t know if Marty is black with white stripes or white with black stripes

Like if you agree
I don't think the third how to train your dragon is any worse than the second one, they're both really good. If anything I think the third one is a perfect mix of the action and war-like scenes from the second one and the super impactful speechless scenes from the first movie, the second film also has the impactful part where Stoick dies but that's kind of it and my other problem with the second one is that the side characters (Snotlout, Ruffnut, Tuffnut and Fishlegs) are SO annoying and they are also in the third one but they don't get that much screen time. I think the character growth and the dragons leaving are SUPER IMPACTFUL and really show Huccup's character growth throughout the trilogy, the end actually made me cry. Also in my opinion Grimel is just a way better villan than Draco but the best how to train your dragon villian is still Viggo from the Netflix series. Also its kinda weird that hiccup is just hanging out with his Mom for more than half of the movie while the anoying side characters are 'dealing with Draco'. Overall they're both absolutely amazing movies but I think the third one is a tad bit better than the second but of course the first is still the best.
Also if you haven't seen the how to train your dragon TV shows and Netflix series yet, your really should, they bring a lot of clarity to many things in the second and third movies (they take place between the first and second movies)

I actually really loved Abominable. I went to go see it with my sister and 2 of my friends a couple days after it came out and we were all crying at the end. Pearl and Dreamworks should start making more movies together. Pearl also did an amazing job working with Netflix to make Over The Moon. I loved that movie so much. The characters and songs were really really enjoyable. I also noticed that Ken Jeong and Phillipa Soo played Chang’E and Gobi and they are both amazing actors

Wallace and Gromit is something I grew up on and is easily in the top 3 for me. So underrated and always takes me back to when I was a kid.
Actually find this to be a pretty good ranking actually. Like, very few I'd disagree with.
Honestly I think it's generous to Shark Tale to have it allowed to stay out of Awful - easily the only Dreamworks film that deserves the moniker. I generally would hold the Dragon series over the Shrek series including having the second HTTYD number 1. I'm probably not overall as high on the Madagascar films and the post-first Panda movies. But, yeah, I liked the Bad Guys too and just all round can't find much wrong with these tiers.

I understand your choices, but I have two kids and I got to enjoy TROLLS more and more at every watching. I would've brushed it away as an adult if my annoying kids didn't insist in watching it so many times. TROLLS became more enjoyable and SING got more and more annoying.
Also, PEABODY and SHERMAN is higher on my list. There is something I love about it. It's so different than any other kids movie. Kind of like Captain Underpants.
Flushed Away is on the MEH tier for me. I've seen this movie TWICE and I still can't tell you the story.

I could not disagree more with a number of your tier choices. First of all, Prince of Egypt having forgettable songs? NEVER. It's a freaking masterpiece and its soundtrack is just INCREDIBLE. The first 2 Kung Fu Panda films should be in Awesome, the third is Good. Chicken Run should be higher than Curse of the Wererabbit because Chicken Run is PEAK Nick Park and Wererabbit is closer to the lower rung of his work. Chicken Run was made round the same time that he was making great films after the other in Wrong Trousers and Close Shave.
