hey! i had this concern too when upgrading from the 1461 orginals. when you first walk in them, yes they will feel heavy compared to other shoes. once you have had a few weeks to adjust to the difference in weight you can barely tell the difference. usually when i change shoes from say sneakers/running shoes i can notice the difference much more. if you are on your feet all day for work/ walk a lot i don’t think id recommend these shoes. i do walk a lot to and from school but most of my day is spent sitting in school. i really recommend if you’re able to visit a dr marten store near you to try them on. as i say the first time you will definitely feel the heaviness, and of course breaking in docs is an absolute pain. but i would say depending on your lifestyle they are worth it ! if you are completely against the heaviness i think id go inbetween these and the originals, the 1461 bex shoes still have that platform but its not as drastic . similarly the oxford 1461s and just originals may be more suitable for you. let me know of you need the links for any of these! i hope this helped :) let me know if you have any further questions
@@mguido3241 the heel grip is really good quality, better than others you’d find on amazon/ elsewhere. they stay on and stick well. when breaking in the shoes i would say they definitely helped as the backs of the shoes were extremely rough on the back of my feet. in terms of comfort the 8053’s look much more comfortable cause they have the cushioned bit at the back but if the shoes are slipping out when you walk i would definitely recommend getting the heel grip. if you can go to the doc marten store and bring your shoes they should let you try an insole for your shoe size, these however do really reduce the size so unless the shoes are significantly bigger i wouldnt recommend it. but the insole when i tried it definitely felt more comfortable than the heel grip. i ended up taking out the heel grips after a month or so as i realised it wasnt doing much for me personally because my shoes werent really slipping to begin with i primarily added it for comfort and to make the shoes more snug. i now just wear two pairs of socks with my docs short answer: didnt work for me but my feet werent slipping out cause i added it for comfort purpose, but i think it could definitely help if you have this issue. its worth trying anyway

I have the 8053s. Did the heel grip insert work for you? I’m considering adding a heel grip to mine bc they do slip a bit when I walk.
