      Absolutely made the right decision. Family comes first and the times you miss you will never get back. If I could retire right now just to be able to spend more time with my family, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Great opportunity yes, but probably better suited to a single person(not married with children) that shares the interests they wanted. 💯 Great job sticking with your beliefs and values.🤘

    I ran across your video on FB and had to watch it. I had a similar experience but it was for a different network and I would have had to relocate from So Cal to TN. I also turned the opportunity down. I have a video talking about Car TV shows also because i wanted to share. I think you made the right decision for you and that’s all you can do. I feel like the larger a channel gets the less desirable being on a a TV show having people tell you what to do and how to act would get less and less desirable. But the right opportunity could be life changing so if a good one comes along don’t be afraid to take a chance and the opportunity. I would like to say props to you. I would have done the same thing. Look at Richard Holdener. He does the same thing on a cheap budget friendly for the average car guy and shows how you can still build power. And he's not trying to sell products that he would not recommend. And the time we're at right now A lot of people are looking for that budget friendly power added. Keep up the good content that's why a lot of people watch you glad I'm subscribed

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  Год назад

      Yea I really like what Richard does. What I DON’T like is how people who don’t understand what he’s doing will watch bits and pieces of his videos and then run all over the internet trying to use them as examples in situations that they don’t fit in or misquote things Richard said in his videos. But that’s not Richards fault. That a problem with RUclips and short attention spans. I’ve actually been on Facebook and people who don’t realize who I am try to use things I supposedly said in my own videos against me, not realizing that I’m the one who said it and they’re misquoting the hell outta my video. Lol. It’s funny but it’s frustrating at the same time because I make a lot of these videos to help people. But when people skip and skim through them they don’t get a full understanding of what’s going on.

    I think youd like Tony Angelo and Lucky Costas stuff a bit more than Roadkill. Finnegans Garage also does budget oriented stuff too. Roadkill is just long in the tooth now with no original content. We can only watch so many mopar rust buckets do a slow burnout.

      I actually don’t care for Tony at all. Something just never sat right with me about him. But I know lots of people like him. So nothing bad, I just don’t like his demeanor. @@BadLuckGarage yeah too each their own. But i enjoy Tony’s content as he seems to actually be a car guy on a budget. He also drives his stuff, and can drive. He’s with Hagerty now and a little more production value stuff but still doing ebay turbo junkyard lincoln and stuff is pretty cool.

      @@kyletice811 Yea when he tried to stick a single gt3582 on that 4.6 and then wondered why it wouldn’t make any power it pretty much told me all I needed to know about how much of a car guy he really was. Or putting the merge together at 180 degrees AGAINST the flow of the exhaust. 🤦🏼‍♂️ And that’s exactly why I don’t care for him. To do so many things so obviously wrong and getting such dismal results because of it he has to either have no clue what he’s doing OR be purposely doing everything wrong for some unknown to me reason. Either way it’s definitely not something I care to watch. Like you said, to each their own. And I know there are people that buy into it not knowing any better. I agree and disagree at the same time. When I sold Steppinwolf I lost so many subscribers and views it almost felt like I was starting over at first. As for the lottery thing. I think even if I won the lottery I would still be doing budget builds and helping people who didn’t have that kinda money do the same. The difference is I would be able to do a lot more of them because I could quit my job and have more time and money to do them and enough land to park them all on. Lol. I’m not saying I wouldn’t have some nice cars too, I’m just saying I prefer the work with what you have budget builds over just buying a bunch of high-end parts and slapping them together like you see on so many TV shows. But this isn’t winning the lottery. This would have been me building cars nobody else could ever have and building them for someone else. If the show every makes it to air everything I said will make a lot more sense. Trust me, the show isn’t like anything anyones ever done or seen. It’s a totally new concept altogether. I’m actually really amazed with the concept of it, it’s just not something I feel I fit into.

I watch some PowerNation shows for inspiration and ideas, but those shows make everything seem like it takes zero skill and a few weekends to build something wild. It leads people to start something they're in no way prepared to finish. Smaller budget RUclips channels show that with some skills and guidance, many people can do things they are unsure about, and give realistic timelines and budget. If you look at when you brought the Camaro home, to when it was running, average a weekend per video (give or take for video overlap) and you see that it's NOT a couple weekends and $500 to get it going. @@williamcordle-FLman Exactly! In the beginning it was annoying to me how these guys would constantly reschedule and everything was taking so long. But ultimately I think that worked out to my advantage because it kept me from making a quick decision without thinking everything through and weighing the pros and cons of doing the show.

    Mistake? That’s only for you to decide, but as long as you followed your heart, you won’t have any regrets. Myself, I’m self employed because I have a hard time dealing with corporate bullshit.
    I have watched Vice Grip Garage for several years, & when I heard he had a show on Motor Trend, Roadside Recovery, I had to check it out. Took me 5 minutes to see there was a HUGE difference between the two shows. I much prefer the RUclips show.

Been watching you for quite awhile and you are a legit dude who keeps it real. As a family man also, you made the right decision. Family time is the most important thing.

      That's what everybody says , but anyone would have taken it ....and his fan base would have grown 10 x .... Everyone in life sells out a little bit or does something that they don't truly want to do so when they act like they don't, they're just lying to themselves. Hey it's his decision and I can respect that, but in the overall picture it would have worked out better for him to take the deal. Show me one person's account that didn't grow drastically after being on TV. one little show doesn't take all that time they film for a few months and that's it. No different than spending hours in front of a camera in the garage posting things on RUclips , you think that doesn't take time? I tried it ...and my channel sucked LOL LOL it takes a s*** ton of time and I'd rather work on my car than film me working on my car. Even if he did a season it would help this channel immensely and he could have went back to that made more money and moved on. I don't mean to send a bad way but these kind of chances don't come along a lot in life and sometimes you just got to go for it. He's got a good channel and I wish him the best. But a lot of people are giving him bad advice on here.

    I'd say you made the right call. I use to watch motortrend all the time. 99 percent of their builds are with parts way out if the avg person's budget. I remember a show they did a 454 build on and said about these head and this intake and this carb and these pistons and rod and you got a 700 hp low budget build. That low budget build was like 6500 in parts alone plus machine work

The company i work for just had to stop providing full paid insurance due to the economy, housing market and certain home builders not readjusting what back to what they used to pay for but increasing their prices ro the customer and making more money when they could go back to paying contractors what they were getting in their contracts to begin with. In my opinion that was a bad move you made... I understand what you're saying but you got to get the popularity and then you're able to do the show you want. Most car guys don't need to be shown how to do things with no budget because we are doing it with no budget. Most car shows are based on people that don't know much at all and really aren't even into it ...look at Gotham garage and look how big that is on Netflix. You should have taken the deal and done the show that they wanted to do get some notoriety and then present your show. Even if you did there show for a year or two and pumped up your RUclips channel to half a million or a million subscribers then you'd have the income to really do what you want to do and a make a format of what you want to do. Sometimes you got to look at the big picture . And motortrend does have low budget build shows.... Full custom garage, they do engine Masters which shows low budget upgrades to high-end builds and they teach a lot to people that don't really understand small things to do and then they run it on the dyno to show what the two horsepower gains really are ...it's a decent show. All in all it's your decision but you should have taken it in my opinion. It would have helped your channel, and it would have help get you where you wanted to go. Best of luck ✌️....

    Robert, as long as you're happy with this decision, that is what matters. The way I look at it is when you miss one opportunity, a windows of others opens up. I have seen this before with other people. Keep doing what you are doing and that other window will open. 😊😊
