  • Gene Rodemich’s Orchestra - Everybody Loves My Baby (Williams - Palmer), Brunswick 1925 (USA)
NOTE: Eugene ("Gene") Frederick RODEMICH (1890 in St. Louis, Missouri - 1934 in New York) - American pianist and orchestra leader, remembered mainly as the composer of music for numerous cartoons and short action films produced by The Van Beuren Corp. The son of a dentist. Gene Rodemich began his musical career in his hometown as a pianist, and later became the conductor of his own dance band. He founded the Rodemich Orchestra Exchange, through which he brought together small bands of musicians from the St. Louis area to play at weddings and other social events. Wanting to try his hand in Chicago and then New York, Rodemich sold his orchestra to Gus Haenschen, a popular bandleader in St. Louis. In 1919, Haenschen became director of popular publishing at the new Brunswick Record Company in New York, and Rodemich became one of the first bandleaders to be offered an exclusive recording contract by Haenschen with Brunswick. Rodemich's band made several national tours and one in Europe, and he was also director and master of ceremonies at the Metropolitan Theatre in Boston for three years. In 1929, Rodemich became involved in film productions and soon became music director of Van Beuren Studios from 1929 to 1934, writing music and directing the orchestra for animated cartoon series such as Aesop's Fables and Tom and Jerry (a duo not to be confused with MGM's famous cat and mouse of the 1940s and 1950s) and Cubby The Bear. He composed music for a number of short live-action films featuring famous comedians, as well as for Van Beuren's 1932-1934 reissues of Charlie Chaplin comedies from 1916-1917. Rodemich caught a cold while accompanying an NBC late-night radio show and insisted on continuing the program. He was taken to the hospital and died three days later of pneumonia at the age of 43.

Rzeczywiście, całkiem szalone wykonanie tego standardu. W późniejszym okresie raczej wykonywano to jako bluesa, zresztą też ładnie. Pozdrowienia :-)

Beautiful Fox-trot to the rhythm of Charleston. Great music and video with a nice dancing atmosphere. Thank you so much for sharing, Dear Grzegorz. Have a blessed weekend 👍🙋‍♂️🍀🎷🎶🌺🌞

At that time they often wrote fox-trot on the label and in fact it was charleston. I guess they themselves didn't quite know how to classify these dance novelties correctly. Greetings

Another precious, hot 20s tune, brilliantly performed by a Gene Rodemich in great form :-) Despite limitations of the acoustic recording process, the arrangement is absolutely fantastic, so colourful and sparkling... Thank you so much for sharing!

It's a shame that such a talented musician ended so early. But what an honorable death: he played to the end, like the orchestra on the Titanic.

Ja już bym nie dał rady z takim fikaniem. Operacja kolana wykluczyła mi narty na resztę dni, no i z charlestona już tez raczej nici. W sama porę wyszedł z mody :-))
