Absolutely fantastic -- this side has everything I love about big band jazz of the Roarin' '20's: tuba, banjo, a novelty instrument (xylophone) and brass with that punctuating quality that adds to the mood of excitement. "Baby Face" really was an anthem of the times, paying tribute to that devilish, liberated jazz baby, The Flapper. So glad to see the shot from one of my favorite scenes in "Baby Face," with the great Barbara Stanwyck -- I know that movie backwards!
+Trombonology Erstwhile Yes, exactly: at 2:40 is the famous scene from the Baby Face movie from 1933: the last Pre-Code movie which also was beginning of the era of moral censorship in American movies... In spite of my obviously negative judgement of that period of exaggeration and frequently hypocrisy, which badly affected the artistic shape of many a film, it is now the same obvoius for me, that American cinema and certainly Hollywood is taking a similarily exaggerated revenge for that past period of moral constraints in the art... :-((( Oh, I love your term: "devilish, liberated jazz baby, The Flapper"! Thank you :-))
