@@S0L12D3 Well Ben White chose not to be in the squad and Tomori is hyped up by pl fans who don’t watch the serie A. The truth is Tomori Is not reliable enough to start at the euros. Neither is Maguire you could say, but he has not let England down and his form has been good for many months at least. There is one stat I don’t like about Tomori and that’s his aerial duel success rate. You can’t have a cb who doesn’t win his headers starting tournament football.

Two 'sitters', both with the ability to go forward when needed and all three full of youthful energy.

As an arsenal fan I have to say Mainoo from the small amount of games ive seen him in has a high footballing IQ for this age and will no doubt be a baller as a 8 going forward . He has great ball carrying and passing ability and he can dictate dictate the tempo of the game knows when to slow things down and retain the ball or go forward and creates scoring chances for his teammates. He has great vision and fairly precise distribution.On a defensive contributions level he is timely with interceptions and tackles. His adaptability to different positions is also on a ridiculous level and has bags of agility in tight half spaces as well as amazing composure for this age. I cant see him failing at united he seems to be getting better and better in every game I see him in and doesn't shy away in difficult games and big games . United just need a certified 6 really like Amadou Onana which I hope arsenal can get.
It's a lot harder to find a 6 than an 8 and if he can be world class 6 let him be that deeper player.
If he becomes good enough then he will probably have a chance to move to a big club like Arsenal. But let this guy develope at manu first

Kobbe mainoo is different from typical English midfielder. Bellingham, Rice, Phillips, Henderson etc are in a way a very similar player. Kobbie Mainno is like Scholes, Wilshere type player, who is very different from these players.

I think rory you need to look at when the call ups happened even though they had similar experience, the short time before this euros means the opportunity to gain more experience is how if differs from saka and Bellingham as there is only 1 international break before the euros is 2/3 months time

Maguire definitely deserves a spot what are you talking about. I don't particularly like him as a player but you can't deny he's played himself back into contention, and he was flawless at the World Cup. You'd at least take him as a backup centre half.

Having a midfielder who can play to his back to the opposition goal and take the ball on the turn and play progressive passes. England have lacked a number 6 type midfielder since Gazza. But it would help if from Pickford and back 4 would pass it forward through midfield and push up and play a higher line.

Hey Rory, it is the day after England vs Belgium and I think that we can safely say that your prayers have been answered. It Gareth Southgate had a legitimate excuse to not play Kobbie, he doesn't now. Kobbie Mainoo is absolutely extraordinary, ready not only as a squad member but as a starter. And to emerge so soon after Jude Bellingham is just crazy. The emergence of two uniquely special players in as many years that both play for ENGLAND is insane.
Forget the golden generation of the early 2000's, I can't think of a time when England has ever produced so many special players. I mean if Jadon Sancho had a more professional attitude toward his career (not doing a Musa Dembele till the wee hours of the morning) and young Mason Greenwood's girlfriend had chosen to only talk about his behavior instead of taping and posting it for all the world to hear and think what a Dick! They too would be a part of this conversation.

Trent is a defensive liability. You can only play him against weak opposition. He is dispossessed more than anyone.

The thing is he can dribble pass players from the mid field which becomes more lethal as it distorts the opposition formations.
Definitely think he should be in the squad, but with his lack of experience he will really need to excel in training to earn a starting berth. Gallagher, Jones and Trent all ahead of him in terms of high level experience. Henderson is done and should be brought as backroom staff, not taking up a playing spot.

Mainoo is the missing piece to the puzzle in midfield
Levi Colwill needs to be called up. Might be the only left footed CB in the entire team. Even if he doesn't start the expiremece of just being there and practicing with the team will be instrumental to his growth and development both physically and mentally.
Colwill is injured. If he wasn't he'd probably have been called up like he was to the last 3(?) squads. Branthwaite is left-footed and is in the squad, quite possibly because of Colwill's absence.

Trent, Gallagher & Mainoo are the 3rd centre mids for me (southgate ain't playing another cam alongside Bellingham). Hendo shouldn't be playing for me. A 6, an 8 and a 10 is the right balance, unforunately that means Foden on the left but a top manager can make the tactic work. Whoever plays left back can offer the width, Saka width on the right, Walker sitting, lop sided defense, to get the best out of the attack. Jude and Foden can do their thing, free roles
