I did a red zinnia and small sunflower bouquet this weekend . I wish I could show you a picture, it looked stunning. I did flowers for trial bouquets the first time this year. I did cosmos, Zinnia, gladiola and a few others, like bachelor button and for-get-me-not . My favorite were the zinnia, they lasted the longest in a bouquet. For a bit of white highlighter I used carrot flowers. Cut of the tops of carrots and once they start growing they will start making blooms soon :)
Love the bucket idea! My lawn is a bunching grass so it's hard for me to find a flat surface for my buckets & so I usually have to keep walking over to it, so to be able to pick a few and then take them all over to the bucket, would be great!
New sub. Great content 👍🏼 it’s funny I thought to myself I really like dianthus & it’s your least fav. lol! But we just clip the heads to sell to restaurants for edible flowers.
my favorite are peonies. Perennial so you buy them once and they produce for years afterward, and the blooms sell for a lot of money. The down side is that it takes two or three years for the plants to get established.
I don't know if you can grow there, and they are expensive but love gladiolas. As for a perennial filler, yarrow (comes in about 3 colors I think) is great. Love mixing ostrich ferns in the spring bouquets...bonus is you can eat the fiddle heads in the spring. I am in zone 3b so very short growing season. I am surprised that roses don't make an appearance on the farm...but as you suggested, don't over do it the first years. Quite like lilacs and peonies, but they don't last long. So many nice flowers out there.
We kind of forage for lilacs! I don't know if we will get into roses. They require much more spraying. Our goal is to keep going more and more with dahlias. We will be growing Yarrow this year as a cool crop if we can get planting!
I like bearded iris and petunias. Can you grow flowers during winter where you live? So cute your daughter trying to help you. I think she is speaking well for a 2 year old.
What variety of Sunflowers do you grow? I plant some for my own garden but they always have the huge middles and the teeny petals instead of being balanced and pretty.
I guess I can just explain it real quick. We have one that is like a back up at a local florist that close down. It’s just a little reefer unit and a small 12‘ x 6‘ closet. It doesn’t work very well. Then, we have another one that is old cargo quad insulated 3 inches thick with a normal air condition wired to trick the refrigeration to cool to a colder point. We use a cool bot system. Maybe I can do a video just on it to explain how we refrigerate the flowers. We also have solar panels and a generator that runs that cargo pod
Your little girl is so precious!
Your sweet child dragged a very large kooler around to you ! How precious!
Excellent points, well explained, and a good dad. What more does someone need? Thank you!

Awesome idea 💡 😄
What is the netting/cover over your zinnias? And what is the purpose of it.
It is to keep the zinnias straight for proper stems to sell!
It is just support netting.
Omg, that side bucket is cracking me up. 🤣 your daughter is precious! I will have to try some Dara.
Lisianthus is a beautiful flower and last a long time. Your baby girl is a sweetheart.

Daisies & roses!
Our Goat's Love wild daisies!
I subscribe to a few flower farms. You have some good in depth info , that some don’t have, unfortunately I’m in zone 5b. Snow and cold
Maybe we can talk more about snow and cold!
You got a good thing going!
Thank you! 😊

I use Autumn Joy Sedum all year! I like snapdragons, sea holly, yarrow, and of course sunflowers and all different kinds of lilies!

We planted 600 the other day!
@@WindyBrookRidgeHomestead niiiiiice! That will be stable income for decades. If you store them they’ll hold for a couple months.

You are cool dude. Beautiful daughter

Hydrangea, zinnias, yarrow, Queen Anne’s lace, coreopsis…
Tell me about that cooler?
Donna, which cooler are referring to? The one in the building or the one in a cargo pod.
@@WindyBrookRidgeHomestead I don’t know...the one you put your flowers in.
Do you have two for flowers?
