Well, it makes sense being that they have worked together far longer than the newer editions to the "on screen talent." But I think that it is great that Nate and Calie can actually take some time off.
I called BS. Everybody has glue guns and they're all over the place. What you meant to say is you never took the time... If you're going to offer excuses at least be accurate.
Honestly I use a 3dprint pen to attach 3dprinted armor parts together with like "welds" without using glues or to do it quickly before using resin on it
This is great. I just learned the other day that I can use my soldering iron at 260°C to "weld" together my 3d prints, this is gonna come in so handy though! Like mig welding.
Looks like you effectively have a plastic welder. I would say that'd be probably pretty effective at welding together different 3D prints. Typically stuff I print is bigger than the print volume and so I usually plastic weld my prints together using a 3D pen but that looks faster...
I have seen Duff Goldman make sugar "glue" sticks and put them in a glue gun to use as an adhesive on one of the cakes he made. Maybe you could make something similar and see if yours works too 😁
I really, really appreciate this video. You know, I was looking for some ways to make thicker and stronger lines of PLA faster than ordinary 3d pens, and one of the ideas was using a gluegun. And obviously, your data will be very helpful for my works. Thanks a lot, and take care.
Excluding the motion control functionality of a 3d printer, the rest of it is just a glorified glue gun basically. Problems with your setup: 1) printers have heated beds to help with cohesion, and to help prevent rapid cooling. 2) average nozzle diameter is 0.4mm and I'm fairly certain that is significantly smaller than standard glue guns. 3) the funneling ratio for 3d printers is ~4.25/1 which help to functionally push the filament out by pressure rather than a trigger function using the backend solid matter as a plunger, thus a smooth flow of outbound material. I imagine it would not be that hard to modify any standard glue gun to function like a 3d pen, but not a printer. Never the less... awesome episode, I totally thought those printed glue sticks were not going to work, were they solid or infilled geometry?
How many people ever wanted to be the person who put the comment on the piece of paper that they hold up and try? It would be so awesome if that happened to me or anybody else because these videos are awesome! Something cool is that I’m pretty sure I live near them I noticed some of the landmarks that they show in some of their videos. How many people ever wanted to be there neighbor! Or have Callie be your babysitter when you were little. I once I had a dream where I meet Them at Walmart and they signed autograph for me! I wish that happen!
I built flame wings for a fire Pegasus using hot glue, floral wire and feathers. The tips of the wings were flames of hot glue, and the structure of the wings is a lattice of hot glue, covered in feathers. You can build things in 3D with hot glue if you give the first layer time to cool (pop it in the freezer for a minute or two) before adding the next one.
I did 3D stuff with hot glue by using a strong desk fan for cooling, but it makes your eyes dry quickly (you really need it blowing right onto the object, and because of that also your face as you look at what you're doing).
Hot glue and a nice silicone mold (or tinfoil sprayed with Pam as a mold release) and you can make amazing things with hot glue. It paints well after a layer of primer so you can get amazing textures. Or paint it with nail polish for a gem-y affect. I've made an entire dice tower, masks, jewels and an entire alien helmet with EL wire inlay. Since it's slightly flexible, I've used it as a mold material itself to replicate the snakes on the hocus pocus book in epoxy clay. It isn't perfect, but does fine in a pinch. Since it's translucent, it's also awesome for flame effect for models and cosplay. Just paint it with glass paint, alcohol ink or insert a flickering LED from one of those cheap tea lights. Use colored hot glue instead of sealing wax for fancy letters. You can do so much!!!!
I've got an idea for you guys, since this is about 3d printer filament. Can you use 3d printing filament as weedwacker line and weedwacker line to 3d print with.
Hey TKOR, I have a suggestion you might be interested in. When you put PLA out onto the rubber mat, it was cool enough to not let the molten PLA stick to it. As you know, a 3D printer often heats the print bed to 50-60°C from the PLA transferring onto it from a temperature of 220°. Try a heated surface to overcome slipping away of molten PLASTICK from the gun.
This might actually be a decent way to weld parts of 3d prints together - I'm pretty sure there are actually products for that, but this would work in a pinch
I'm already subscribed, but I ABSOLUTELY just dropped the "Thumbs Up" for "PLAStick"!! HAHAHAHAHA! Cali you wrong for rolling your eyes and walking away! That was comedy gold!
I've wanted to see this tested for the past 3 yrs. I've just been patiently waiting. Btw, it is possible to make realistic roses with simple hot glue, if you roll it while it's still hot enough to flatten it without it sticking. Also, I used parchment paper, the glue won't stick to it. I've a feeling Nate was waiting to use that joke since this idea was drawn up 😂
How else should we experiment with 3D printing??
