this is the vibe of "small town living" which means there is nothing to do except ride around in people's cars, sit in parking lots, lay in your bed, and look at fields of corn. it is the emo midwest//small town northeast feel.
Small town, you have no friends, no car and no money so you sit and rot in your bed room and daydream about a future that never happens. You're 25 now, the world passed you by when you weren't even paying attention, you haven't even kissed a girl yet.

Yes they’re different genres of music, but it’s amazing to see how Duster inspired so many bands across different genres based off of this album alone.

I guess the people needed good music during this shitty time and uncovered this amazing album!
This album perfectly encapsulates the feeling of being an astronaught alone on a ship. That sense of getting away from the oddities of everyday life and going someplace distant and other worldy. With the rising feeling of leaving the earth and that uncanny solitude that causes both comfort and slight unease. It contiuously rises and falls going through these emotions of depression and manic energy leading to an acceptance and eventual return to earth. Stratosphere is a perfect title because its one of the first steps to leaving our home and also a sign that you're in the closing stretch and will soon be back where you started. Godspeed Duster. I don't know if they intended this but fuck, I can feel it. I'm reliving those memories while I blast away from this rock, to eventually remember the people I need and then return in a crash landing.
the moment you realize your not their favorite person anymore,so you cry and lay down think you will never talk to them again just like you did before, then it hits you.

I forgot how I found duster, but the one feeling I’ve been getting since I’ve started listening to them (and this might be pretty specific), is Usually this comforting calming feeing that mostly occurs when I’m flying to or from my dads house for a few hours because my parents are divorced. I feel very calm within those 7 hours because nothing is bothering me most of the time. I’m usually so stressed when I’m on the ground, but when I’m in the air, besides the occasional bumps from the turbulence, I feel actually free and not stressed or anxious. I don’t know how but Duster has somehow makes me feel that same feeling I get when I’m flying on a plane, and I always feel calm playing their music (specially this album), like there’s nothing to be worried about. I could have this burning aching feeling in my stomach and eyes, but when I listen to Duster it just goes away.
After having this album on repeat for more than a year i can safely say that this is probably one of my favorite albums of all time, i just can't get enough of it
The more i listen to this album the more i appreciate it, Echo Bravo and Reed to Hillsbrough are incredible, such a unique sound to the guitars all the way through in more ways than one!
For anyone who needs this; It does get better. In the past year I’ve been through 2 hard break ups, surgery, losing most of my friends, breaking my first guitar, return of cystic acne, starting depression medication, having my dose upped 3 times, starting therapy, contemplating ending my life, having most of my school hate me, mild drug use and deciding to move with my mom to live in my uncles apartment to go to art school for my senior year as well as preparing for being an adult. Somehow I find a reason to keep living and being happy. It will be ok to anyone who needs it. Thank you.
sometimes you can tell something is gonna be great even after a few minutes, seconds even. i have a good feeling about this :) i'll let you know when i fall in love with this album completly. five minutes in and i already want us to move in :D
31:10 feels like a long highway tunnel that will never end or being trapped in a ever lasting maze, but something about it makes it soothing to the ears
A lot of people are talking about doing opiates while listening to this album, please believe me it's not worth it, stick to weed, opiates will ruin your life :(
Every time I listen to this album it reminds me of how much my parents used to love me for who I was n they used to love me like I was no other. I used to go to sleep happy n wake up happy. Feeling the pain I feel now hurts to see how alone I am, at 14 I’m so alone it hurts to see my own reflection in any mirror type object or liquid I can’t bare to think how much I hurt from trying, over and over again it’s like my heart is shutting down on me. And after time you start to accept it because truly no one would care until ur deep down under the water and u come back up floating after so long bc they would now see your hurt. Because of them and their actions that they never realized since now. Now they see all the cuts, and bruises, broken bones, the pool of ur own tears where u rouse up from because the tears have their name all over it. This album is fr my live
youtube seems to have changed the way audio/video streaming works. the audio for me sounds exactly the same as the video file i uploaded this as, which is cool
This album feels like knowing you lack something important in your life, maybe you know what it is, maybe you don't. Either way you feel like you will never have this, and as such feel hopeless and lack direction.
For some reason this album reminds me of the late nights as a coming to age teen / early 20 year old roaming around your suburban town with your friends board out of your mind.
Had the opportunity to see these guys at a local arts festival here in Chicago last summer, the sky was overcast and a shade of dark blue/ grey. They ended up closing the night and to call it a magical experience would be an understatement lol

it's 6am on a school morning today. woke up at 4 and couldn't get back to sleep. but at around half 5 i put this album on, being familiar with the band but never hearing a full record. it's blown my mind, and so much so that i had the unnecessary urge to go downstairs and start breakfast before my family even woke. so cheers Duster, expect me buying your CDs soon.
I haven't been feeling so great this last year, and finding this album, and duster generally, was great. The music just harmonizes with my life somehow.
A beach late at night , seeing all the waves crash in the dark open sea. Very windy and fresh, we lay down in the sand crying and the chest consume us whole
watching a blank screen instead of an album cover somehow lends even more to the nature of this album

I've seen someone else compare a lot of duster songs to a plane ride, especially ones from stratosphere and I definitely see it as well
just discovered this album and my heart feels so full
I found out about this album In 2016 and everytime I play It somehow their music still takes e to a calm place
Thank you Duster
After having this album on repeat for more than a year i can safely say that this is probably one of my favorite albums of all time, i just can't get enough of it
This probably only makes sense in my head but this album weighs a lot
Yeah
It’s the weight of the entire stratosphere pushing down on you
Fucking worst ad interruption I’ve ever experienced. Such a brilliant band
That would piss me off so much. This Album flows so well you can't interrupt that
Ads getting in the way of something real

The more i listen to this album the more i appreciate it, Echo Bravo and Reed to Hillsbrough are incredible, such a unique sound to the guitars all the way through in more ways than one!
Lofi beats for decaying in your bedroom
For anyone who needs this; It does get better. In the past year I’ve been through 2 hard break ups, surgery, losing most of my friends, breaking my first guitar, return of cystic acne, starting depression medication, having my dose upped 3 times, starting therapy, contemplating ending my life, having most of my school hate me, mild drug use and deciding to move with my mom to live in my uncles apartment to go to art school for my senior year as well as preparing for being an adult. Somehow I find a reason to keep living and being happy. It will be ok to anyone who needs it. Thank you.
the best genre
sometimes you can tell something is gonna be great even after a few minutes, seconds even. i have a good feeling about this :)
i'll let you know when i fall in love with this album completly. five minutes in and i already want us to move in :D

What about it ¿
31:10 feels like a long highway tunnel that will never end or being trapped in a ever lasting maze, but something about it makes it soothing to the ears
Only took me 22 years to discover this gem.
A lot of people are talking about doing opiates while listening to this album, please believe me it's not worth it, stick to weed, opiates will ruin your life :(
Can't hit rock bottom if you just keep falling
Idk If i was lucky or not but I did lean it had 0 effects on me. Maybe a little drowsiness but thats it.

Codeine is among one of the weakest opioids.
@@theseus0767 Makes sense. I tasted more of the sprite than the cough syrup
This album is fr my live
you just like me fr
this album reminds me of the feeling of being forgotten
masterpiece, i'm sad
My favorite genre. Melancholic hope...
I always find the best music at 3 am
It always takes me a long time of strolling the Internet and taking inspiration to get to my best and most creative albums/artists.
1:48 am here. A lil early i guess

3 am is the witching hour. That's when magic is the strongest.

i’ve been laying in my bed for hours listening to this and not doing anything and thinking about how my younger self would’ve hated me
relatable

youtube seems to have changed the way audio/video streaming works. the audio for me sounds exactly the same as the video file i uploaded this as, which is cool
dude. im so happy that youtube showed me this album like a year ago when it went in everyones recommended.
You spelled bored wrong 😘
I still miss the way you looked and made me feel while you were laying on the bed listening to this with me
It gets better
simplicity is ultimate sophistication
Thank you so much for the uploading this. I'm crying now.
I get a lot of thinking done when I listen to this. And then sometimes I just get sucked in and only feel.
Had the opportunity to see these guys at a local arts festival here in Chicago last summer, the sky was overcast and a shade of dark blue/ grey. They ended up closing the night and to call it a magical experience would be an understatement lol

Absolute bliss. An album to treasure.
dusters music is so cozy it almost felt like home.
nah im just tired
I know this post is old as shit, but thank you OP. I lost this cd in the fire and forgot just how amazing these guys were.
One of my favourites. The Landing is the perfect winter jam.
Wow, fancy seeing you here
love how nothing this whole album is. so relaxing to sit around to. if floral wallpaper had a sound.
This album is God tier. Holy shit
Happy 20th anniversary to the greatest album ever made.
i heard this album during january. i was reading norwegian wood at the time, and now every time i hear these songs i just get reminded of the scenery and the characters of the book. its both so calming and sad, idk which to feel. anyway, hope y'all are happy
it's 6am on a school morning today. woke up at 4 and couldn't get back to sleep. but at around half 5 i put this album on, being familiar with the band but never hearing a full record. it's blown my mind, and so much so that i had the unnecessary urge to go downstairs and start breakfast before my family even woke.
so cheers Duster, expect me buying your CDs soon.
Saw these guys tonight. So happy I got to see them!
What a beautiful, understated Sonic masterpiece. I love this album with all my heart
just saw them live in Downtown LA! They kicked ass, and so did their opening acts!!
I haven't been feeling so great this last year, and finding this album, and duster generally, was great. The music just harmonizes with my life somehow.
A beach late at night , seeing all the waves crash in the dark open sea. Very windy and fresh, we lay down in the sand crying and the chest consume us whole
Gold Dust is such a banger... damn
Heading for the door, gold dust, echo bravo and inside out are the best songs on the album
Sucha a gem of an album, of the finest albums, i listen to it ALL the time.....seriously!
i'm too late to discover this stuff. such a masterpiece, being an innovation of music in these decades.
Favorite album of all time right here
ainda traz nostalgia . mas agora me lembra uma pessoa incrivel tambem !!!!!!!!!!!! incrivel como as coisas mudam com o passar do tempo
How have I never heard this band before? Pure class
was looking for The Cure - Disintegration full album and was not disappointed to have stumbled upon this
Also a great album choice
I don't know if this album is making my mental health better or worse
Girl sent me this after friendzoning me, like thanks? That sure made it alot better 😅
i don't think i could love an album more
