🤘 glad you enjoyed it. The band is basically just a fun uplifting homage to gamers and nerds, hence the retro styled sounds surrounded in a happy power metal vibe. I think they've done a ton of songs released for free and they're very much into it for the love of music and games and not for the money, which is refreshing to see nowadays

I enjoyed that. I thought that the singer's voice was just different enough to be ear catching. They're from Sweden/Finland. I snatched this off of their Wickipedia site - "many of their songs use a SidStation that features the SID chip of the Commodore 64." I, of course, don't have the slightest idea what it means.

Don’t know if your comment was ironic or not, but just in case: the Commodore 64 was a personal computer launched in 1982. It is to this date the best selling computer ever built. Many iconic games were released for it. The SID was a programmable synth chip on its mainboard that generated a very unique sound. The C64 sounds became so iconic of the 80‘s gaming world, that people to this date emulate these sounds in modern music. The SIDstation is basically a modern synthesizer with that old chip.

Thank you. It wasn't meant to be ironic at all. I'm of an age where a lot of these computer things are way beyond me. I have never played a complicated computer game, for instance. So your explanation was very helpful to me.

@@WNYretireeI listened closer to this song, and I’m pretty sure some of the synth drums were generated with the SID. I heard a couple of other sounds that felt familiar to me. For someone who grew up with the C64 (I still have one that actually works) this feels very nostalgic to me 😊

@@DanTheSqueegeeMan Well, this guys are the originators of SID metal, so I guess they should own that sound. :)

This was the first live band I ever saw, think it was back in 2009 or 2010 when they visited Finland in my hometown. Then I saw them again few years later, such a fun and good band. Brings back some great memories listening to them while gaming. They even came to the largest lanparty in finland to play a gig and it was so crazy, thousands of computer screens and them playing on the stage. :D

Machinae is machines in Latin. Love their older stuff. Arcade, Sidstyler, Gianna Sisters, I Turn to You, Attack Music, Bouff, Sidology I and III etc.

If we're diving into more industrial and cyber oriented metal, please give yourself the pleasure and listen to Sybreed, i always reccomend Plasmaterial as it is one of theirs lesser known tracks but hits like a truck and has some amazing but sad lyrics. The band is no longer active but the impact they had on me and a lot of other people is big, most of their music is tied to transhumanism so if you're into some scifi filosophy in your metal, try it.
    Love Machinae too, take care.

That was surprising. I wasn't sure at first, but as it went further, it really got into a great groove. I too love the old computer game sound. i grew up the the PCs and C64s. To this day, I'll play PC over consoles. Super Nintendo was as console as i got lol. i still play my SNES from time to time, as do my kids. The singer def has a unique voice, also not what i was expecting. That was cool, i really enjoyed it. ❤ and ✌️

FYI This version of the album is v2 and while there were a few changes for the better, most of the album sounds worse than the original v1 version (SID being downtuned like in Insidious, the drums having a more metallic note prevalent in songs like Deus Ex Machinae and a few others, weird mixing levels, etc.).
If you want to hear the v1 versions I can send you a link to a Google Drive folder that has it. Unfortunately they did the same thing with their second album Redeemer which had both an Underground (original) and Retail (remastered) version. The Underground edition sounds 10x better and I have that one as well. Just lmk!

Oh this vibes of last 70's and early 80's... am I the only one to fell them ?

Might be the Commodore 64 SID chip they use for the chiptune parts

Holy crap what a nostalgia trip. As someone who's found escape in video games my whole life, this song just hits different, man. Reminds me of 'Escapist' by Nightwish, actually, another song that hits home. Check it out sometime if you haven't already, it's an underrated gem!
