As on each drone that we get, here is the crash test. We want to see how good the drones are (possible crash, rain,...) that happen to us all. And I can say that we of course have fun doing it.

It's nice to see someone do these durability tests for us. Most buyers will baby their drones and go out of our way to protect them as much as practical. But accidents happen, and the fear of these sorts of crashes are always in our minds. This sort of testing will give many people the confidence to buy and use these quadcopters with less fear. I don't know if the quad was supplied by the manufacturer or if the channel brings in enough income to cover the costs, but regardless, these torture tests are interesting, informative, and useful. Thanks!

How was the camera?
It's great to see that Mavic 2 Zoom survived these tests and that it's still flies. The biggest question is how's the camera?
We buy these drone mostly for aerial filming purpose. Just because it still flies does not mean the camera still work as before - gimbal stability, picture quality, focus, zoom functions.
In the future could you please also include post crash camera tests.

When I got into some trouble with my Mavic 2 pro, I was trying to land it manually and in my lawn was a small little uphill and the top left propeller folded in and was still spinning but the gimbal was just straight eating the ground. After I landed it, I checked the screen and it said that the gimbal motor was overloaded. I got scared that it might be broken but after a couple of second the warning went away and so I went and did a gimbal calibration and it was all fine

To be expected, I own a Spark and Mavic Pro, crashed it a few times and it survived, I cannot wait for the Mavic Pro 2, it can only get better, Dji makes the best drones, I believe.

I've never crashed or had my Mavic Pro 1 have any issues, but it's good to know that the Mavic 2 is this durable. Bravo!

DJI Mavic series are solid rock! My Mavic 2 Zoom went backwards and the props hit a galvanized wire when I was testing the Dolly Zoom, one motor at he back stopped and the 3 were balancing themselves, 2 were slowing down the props and the one was speeding itself.

All Around Jay I can attest to the build quality of the AIR. I had a tree attack my drone In sport mode flat out, absolutely no damage. Just recalibrate the imu after.
OK, hovering with the cup of water on top just blew me away !

DJI, worth the money and thank you for doing this testing as I would find this way too expensive to do myself ... I knew that DJI builds quality products, and you have demonstrated why I should continue to invest in their products ... #DJI, thank you for doing all the R & D to bring quality products and useful products to market, I currently use only DJI and will certainly continue to do so, and I will be purchasing the new Mavic 2 Pro ... 👍🏻👍🏻

Great vid! I think one test that you gave to do is crash it from higher up into the tree and see what happens when it falls from higher up.
I think it may have been better if you had simply stacked up a load of common scenarios that people may find themselves in. Like Auto RTH rising up into trees, or flying towards twigs of trees that may not get caught by the sensors. Or flying under a bridge and hitting the bridge above, or using active track around bushes.
Lots of people watch these videos but are unable to afford the drones, and they may not even realise that these were given to you in advance by DJI to review for free, so to some people, it looks like basic vandalism. It's good to see what the drones can withstand, but maybe done in a more constructuve way? Cheers for doing what you do! Great stuff! Ian in London
Out of 500 comments, this is one is the first one that makes sense. That is what is happening here. But not lying now either, if I have to give detailed explanations for everything we do i could close the channel tomorrow. We have been doing these tests for a couple of years almost, and they are meant to see drone resistance, durability, and of course in the end we have fun doing them. And honestly, i dont really care about nonsense comments just throwing trash at someone's work. You end up ignoring. Thanks.

Ah the auto rth into a tree, i had the joy of having my air fly up 3 times into a tree and then fall 15 feet onto a stump and a rock. I should have canceled it but i got caught up in the moment, and had my first crash. My air took it like a champ though everything is fine other than one broken prop and a small dent on the top rear end of the drone by the vent.
I agree it was a good set of crash tests, but most tree crashes will occur around 20 or 30 feet above ground. Curious to see those test results.
Nothing like waiting on your new drone to get here while people who got theirs a while ago do crashes on youtube.... SMH
Very informative vid! Held up a lot better than expected! I am one who likes to fly my drones close to trees and other objects to get more "cinematic" shots. This has inspired more confidence that this drone can handle a 10ft fall from a tree without costing over $1000.00 in damages unlike the phantom I use to own.

From my perspective, there is something still missing: IPX7 certified protection against water and IP6X certified protection against dust...besides, I'm wondering if DJI is already thinking about devices capable of making not just a SRH when they run out of battery, but to be able to find and connect by their own to a charging base, fixed or mobile. Any news about it?

It is a nice test but next time crash into a very uneven rock face. I think the result can be pretty different. Tree bark is not sharp so will not scratch easy and will also spread the impactload over a wider area of the plastic. A pointy rock is a bit different I think. Sure the drone is not made for crashed so to even survive a crash like this is allready pretty good but I just want to make clear that the colkision object will make a big difference.
Agree with @jb drones, pointless testing to see if a drone crashes - because OMG - DJI as it manufacturers so many drones just wouldn't have thought of that would they, I'm sure DJI would have just thought we'll release the drone - let everyone crash it on RUclips and wait for the complaints to come rolling in....😂

Alex, another great real live test, and review, well done! The new Mavic 2 Zoom was an absolute champ, it took a licking and kept on ticking, LOL! I know you'll going to get a lot of flack purposely turn to destroy a brand new drone while a lot of people can't afford one, but this is a real world test, it can happen to anyone. Thanks for the great test, you guys rock!

I think you should do the water test more heavy. Because if DJI makes the Mavic to be more resistance of water it could be the most powerfull drone we could be expect to own. Nice test!

Ive had the Mavic Pro crashed into a pole, flipped 5-6 times falling under a bridge out of my eyesight thinking i lost everything. (Sea under the bridge). The drone suddenly hovered up over the bridge again and watching the tape it actually recovered from 5 flips hovering 1cm above the sea ...........pilot error but holy hell what technology it is in the drone. And that was Mavic 1 !
What happens to the drone if it falls into a stream or a river? Will it still function normally?

Great video. How does this compare to the Mavic 1. I litterly JUST dropped my 1 off at the drone repair shop for the "Gimbal Obstructed" and "Aircraft Motor Overload" error. $289 to fix. Do you know if the 2 has improvements to the pieces of the gimbal that cause those errors?

I have a question about that lanyard you're hanging off the stern. This seems a possible way of hand catching off, say, a bobbing boat without bloodying your fingers. Just hover, grab the lanyard, kill the motors. Have you tried this? Will you review this method, if not?

Your results on the side sensors in tripod are not clear. Was the side crash in P mode ? Also .. It sounds like the top sensors are not consistently working . Is that correct ?

@We Talk UAV, now try doing this same torture test with the Mavic 2 Pro (1" sensor Hassleblad) and see if it fares the same as the Mavic 2 Zoom. I just saw a report of the camera coming off from the gimbal mount because of a bad glue job.
