“If I have better control and better grip. I have options if I need to make adjustments” ❤
Exactly!
Funny thing is, without knowing he is a 3x GP Champion the majority of riders would call him a chicken stripped coward who shouldn't ride.
Only uneducated moron's would say that. You win no prizes for maximum lean angle on the street. Fkn lol.
A lot of people judge a book by its cover. Never suffer fools. Move along quickly.
A book has to be opened to tell the tale ❤✌🏻🇨🇦☕️🎯🤘🏻
I always love hearing these world champions say they are risk adverse - while so many street riders dismiss things we learn from the race track as "too dangerous"
@CanyonChasers perfect!
IMHO, Freddie is the man. He achieved some amazing things as a young man.
When Fast Freddie speaks, you can bet your Azz I'm listening. Many won't and will end up just creating more crash videos on RUclips.
Be sure to check out the full length discussion on our channel (or wherever you get your podcasts)
@CanyonChasers Will do! 👍
Good to see Fast Freddie..looking well.
I got to ride with him in November, he's still fast AF!
What a fantastic Man. What an amazing champion he is. One of the greatest
Some guys I rode with during the lockdown decided I ride too slow (Mulholland and Angel's Crest). Since that decision, one of them is dead and another had to be helivacked from his accident that wrecked his bike, broke his ankle, and ruined the day for everyone else.
Thats a tragic story with a great lesson in it. The faster rider might not be any faster, they just might be willing to accept more risk. I'm much happier going a bit slower, reducing lean, etc, so I can ride again tomorrow.
I'm lucky to be able to get to the track every week to practice skills and technique. My road riding is super mellow now as there's no need to push it - it'll wait until Sunday 😜
Right! I always say the track lets me, kinda', get it out of my system, so I'm all relaxed and mellow on the road. I love that!
Just did a vid on using RaceChrono to analyze times and lines - love to hear your thoughts (not looking for subs and traffic - just like to get feedback from proper guys 🙂
This was fantastic! And teaching simple techniques that everybody can and should use all the time- which gives them choices when something goes wrong- is simply the obvious and responsible thing to do. I used to ponder the emphasis on trail braking, however I learned that as a lad on a bicycle, and being from a different country, I am not blinkered by an inadequate and blinkered motorcycle learning system. One phrase which really stood out in this conversation was: CONTROL = JOY .
I do totally get that, and used to have the same problem with over-slowing. Because duh, applying and brake slows you down! Now that I'm used to using it, I use trail braking when going too fast for a corner (it's a lifesaver!). Otherwise, I just barely turn the brake light on/generally hover there for any unexpected things, or if I need to tighten my circle, etc.
I still need to watch the full video of this soon!
Exactly!! We go to the brakes until we're happy with our speed and direction - If we're happy, no problem! Right?!? Its such a simple, elegant way to approach it.
I always thought that i had to do this to stay on the bike.
I like his technique and it seems more correct in and through the turn.
The riding is still exhilarating too.
I follow this same Rule and it has done me well. There's too much risk in a corner for me to be in full lean on public roads. I slow down a little more and power out of the exit.
Was a great interview. Got me thinking.
Thats awesome!
👏👏👏
If ur not listening and taking on board what Freddie is talking about, unless u already do it, u need to. U need to stop, chill out and listen to this again.
Thanks Freddie.
totally!
Thanks!
Thank you!! Much appreciated!
The man!
Options are the best!
Aren't they!?!?
That’s a fact,Jack. ✌🏻❤️🇨🇦☕️🎯
This is a 3x champion saying that we need to find ways to minimize lean angle while riding on the road. A champion rider saying we need to offset lean angle by our skills. Again, a 3x champion saying we do not need to lean too deep riding on the streets, while more and more "wannabe" racers risk the safety of others just so they can get their knees and elbows down.
Right!! I have a few other clips I'm going to be uploading that are just as great as this one, but you can check out the full-length interview on our channel (or wherever you get your podcasts)
More skills means more options...PERIOD.
That's Fast Freddie on the importance of being slow and steady!
Right!?! I love how all these fast guys talk about being risk adverse and spend all this energy talking about how to slow down!
@@CanyonChasers Need I say more, excellent podcast. Loved every minute of it. Podcasts like these definitely make a helluva difference to the grey matter. Go on Dave!
Risk/reward
Everyone should hate what this dude has done to motoGP. The inconsistency has to stop.
I talked to him about his current role in MotoGP and he said "Dorna makes the show, I try to make it as safe as I can"
now if you could just keep cars from pulling out in front of you.....
Wouldn't that be nice!?!
