Out of every walking dead villian pope had the most potential to be the scariest and the most deadly. When he said the line "We run into battle... WE RUN INTO THE FIRE" I could tell he was going to be sick

they had a theme as menacing and cold and scary as this with chanting, uneasy strings and an unnerving melody, they had designs that were dark, ghostly and sinister looking as they were, with so much potential to be a legion of some of the most badass mfs in The Walking Dead and then they got killed off almost immediately in the grand scheme of the show
its because the new director thought the show was going to have 5 more seasons. when she learned the show was gonna end by season 12, they had to write off these characters.

I actually liked the Reapers...them being ex-military and whatnot. Carver, Pope, the sniper that blew himself up, and that one lady who liked Daryl were good characters.
Totally agree! Even the priest Reaper, Mancea, was a good character and had potential as well. Because of how small a group they were, every one of the Reapers could have been fleshed out and given proper characterisation, at least to some extent. We could have seen them as more morally gray antagonists than outright villains. And because of how lethal and skilled they were as a group, they really should have been able to (and been allowed by the writers) take out several main characters and supporting characters with enough characterisation that they would be missed by the audience. That way, the Reapers would have been viewed as very effective and memorable villains, not to mention one of the deadliest and most formidable enemies that the main survivors have ever faced.
It also would have been A LOT better if the Reapers were mercenaries for either the Commonwealth or the CRM (Civic Rebublic Military). The writers easily could have tied the Reapers' story in with either of those groups.
I can't stop listening it and also it's sad that they die so fast. They had a lot of potential but AMC trowed them at the trash.

Yeah, that sound is really unsettling. But I still think Negan's muted guitar chugs is better, sounds more tense.
Which actually falls in line with their characters. Pope and his "family" are seasoned veterans that engage before you even find them, they're menacing.
Negan is all about intimidation and building tension to keep people in check.

Governor: intense
reapers: badass and unsettling at the same time.

Pope is the most mental worse villain out of a lot of them, his mind was worser and more twisted than the whisperers.

Governor & Negan were the same person, They both wanted similar conquering. One was hungry for power, and one wanted others to provide for him.
Whisperers & Pope were Mentally Insane, Alpha manipulated her whole group including a famous celebrity and managed to copy cat Leatherfaces iconic move by wearing his victims Faces as a mask. And the Pope's mind was Religiously Twisted.
The Commonwealth was just Physiologically Insane.
My work manager looks like pope and makes me think every time I see him 😂
I had a supervisor at my first job named Bob who looked like he could be Pope's brother. He was soft like Eugene used to be.

These guys knocked it out of the park, it was so good to see some villains more grounded in reality after two seasons of whisperers and the battle of helms deep against hilltop.
I thought it was like a shorter but more improved version of the Battle for winterfeld

We were robbed of a fantastic ending to the main series. Pope and the Reapers should've been the final boss instead of the Commonwealth. They were much scarier and way more brutal. I think they should've been on the Saviors level in terms of soldier numbers. But every Reaper is ex military. So they would have both the numbers and the tactics to be a ferocious enemy. It would've been so cool.
They would've been the CRM, THEN... 😅😅
Personally, I would've loved to see what you just said, but for a group that takes and moves constantly, I'm just curious why there wasn't more of them to begin with. I mean, at the time we met them, it was the end of the series. I at least expected 50 - 80.
Agh!!! This song is just chilling. And the way it actually makes me check behind me while I listen to it alone, this kinda music would be PERFECT for horror movies.
It's a great horror movie type theme. I'm glad Walking Dead is moving away from action and focusing more on horror in It's last season.

@@Anudorini-Talah Yeah, and I saw a leaked photo of this guy before his episodes came out snd nearly every comment was like, "Oh this is our villain, he looks so lame." And, he was actually pretty scary and VERY well acted
TWD’s soundtrack is so underrated, I mean, GoT’s soundtrack in seasons 1-6 were good, but nothing evokes tension and fear like this track from Season 11 of TWD.

Well, Bear McCreary (main composer for TWD) is the same guy who composed GOW 2018 and ragnarok soundtrack, no wonder it's great!

I feel like the reaper's were cut short i really wanted them all to follow our survivors home and then launch an attack obviously still losing but it would've been fun seeing Alexandria get tore up again right after the whispers. It would've brought so much wieght to the struggles they were already facing idk thats me lol

Walter actually survived the shooting at Jack's compound and avoided the police fleeing to the other side of the country later on. Shortly after the blue meth started the apocalypse, Walter used his past experience as a hardened criminal to start his own paramilitary group going by the new alias "Pope"

I was so disappointed with how Pope ended up. He had a lot of potential, was well acted and interestingly written. I think it would have been better if he had known that Daryl wanted to betray them and would have killed Leah in front of him. Not only would it have shown how brutal and ruthless Pope can be, but we would have a personal conflict between him and Daryl. That would be awesome.
If the walking dead is in real life, I'd rather choose to be grouped with the reapers than any other groups existed there

The Reapers theme is the best villain theme in the show in my opinion out of every antagonist's theme theirs sounds the best, it sounds indifferent, cold and evil compared to the other ones I also think it relates to Pope quite a lot, like I think the deep religous chanting throughout the song represents his demented beliefs about god but I don't know if that's a good inference but either way they were all so cool and I wish they were given time to grow and become more formidable towards everyone
Its interesting how they dressed him in opposite to Pope, whole black while Pope wears white, on the head he have black beanie and Pope white skullcap/calotte, instead of tunic he wears black vest.
Kinda wish Abraham was alive and could have fought these guys, given that they were ex-military types. Wish also that the Walking Dead was better written to have good and interesting match ups with Antagonists
The saddest part is that Pope is dead now...still.. a terrifing theme
But now Leah is the second major threat since she continues the Reapers legacy

The Reapers should’ve been such a bigger threat to the protagonists. These dudes were all ex military. If we’re being real. They would’ve easily been the ones in charge of this apocalypse.

In an All-Out war between all factions the saviours would win because Rick's group only won against the Saviours because they'd strategized and taken out all the outposts, not to mention, the only reason they actually won was because Eugene had rigged their weapons. Now, The Whisperers were a huge threat at first, if the rest of the groups never knew what they were then they would've likely taken out a lot of both Saviours and Rick's Group but not The Reapers since they are highly skilled in Hand-to-Hand combat. The Saviours would eventually win because of their massive numbers and access to weapons taking down the Reapers, the Whisperers since they would just gun them down or even set traps for the undead so either way they can't get close to them, and Rick's group because even if Rick is smart, Negan can be smarter.

Yeah but at this point in the story, the main group had already dealt with a plethora of enemy communities. So it was a lot easier to defeat them now that they knew what they were doing.

almost done with season 11 now. worth the wait for it to release. i feel like they had SOOOO much potential with pope. he was truly out of his fucking mind. and believed all his actions were for god and god alone. but it was all a selfish ruse from him to secure his own safety. a great villain. who lead a group who got one of the best theme songs in the walking dead

I kinda wish the Reapers were given some of the screen time that was given to Commonwealth and the whole corruption plot there. I found the reapers far more menacing outside of that one psycho Commonwealth soldier. Could have maybe been a plotline where the Reapers attack Commonwealth or smth and it ends up in an all out war.
i think 10c should have been the introduction of the reapers that carried to the end of 11a. i think with more time, the reapers could have been very threatening
Ngl the reapers would have been the perfect villains earlier on When the show had more guns or When they were on the road like maybe they could’ve had the last parts of season 5 before the group met Aaron, they could’ve mixed the plots the group would’ve still went to Alexandria after these guys were handled, n they could’ve met Aaron while trying to defeat these guys
