The hogs are the carriers of diseases that can be passed on to humans such as tuberculosis, hepatitis E and influenza A? Tell us that you have no idea what you are talking about without telling us you have no idea what you are talking about?
@@Zelp789 Are you serious? According to the Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute, feral hog meat is technically not safe to consume. Most of the risks associated with consuming wild pork are connected to the diseases that hogs are known to carry. The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Centers for Disease Control has put together an informative flyer that shows how hogs are known to carry at least 24 diseases. Among the diseases of concern are things like salmonella, hepatitis, E. coli, swine influenza, trichinellosis, and more. One big concern is brucellosis, which is spread by bacteria. The bad news is that you do not have to eat the meat to contract it. The USDA warns you can get infected from contact with blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids of these wild animals. Symptoms include things like muscle and joint pain, fatigue, loss of appetite, fever, chills, and sweating. Fortunately, brucellosis is rarely fatal and can be treated with antibiotics, but it's still something you probably do not want to contract. Most experts recommend the same thing to anyone who is preparing venison. At the same time, they are quick to caution that simply smoking, freezing, drying, or pickling the meat will not kill the bacteria that may spread diseases.
When you say "hog" I believe you are referring to Boat. Boar are natural and truly wild animals. Feral pigs are Domesticated Pigs, a different species bred by humans over thousands of years. A big problem with feral pigs is that we bred them to have as many babies as possible as quickly as possible. So when they go wild they have approximately 40 babies per year, and it overwhelms the local ecosystem
Humane ?🤣Some people already do that. It kills only a few with quite a blast, while several others further away "squeal like a pig" in complete agony. I mean legs blown off, holes in their hind quarters, half their faces blown off, their reproductive organs blown off as they writhe and squirm on the ground in intense pain. Look for those videos on RUclips, some may still be there. Some have been taken down for obvious reasons. Oops, not such a good idea I guess. Be careful what you wish for.
I wish!! But the US makes it illegal to feed the hungry. They encourage throwing things away that are still good instead. Including life saving medications and food. Heartbreaking
It's neither safe nor economically viable. These animals carry a lot of diseases and parasites and it's more expensive to hunt and transport them than farm bred pigs who are safe to eat.
So $1.5 Billion problem, but 9 million wild pigs. Imagine if we had a hunting/trapping program could net half of them. That's 4.5 million. There's quite a bit of expenses there so say one can net $450 on average for each pig(this is a lot less than domesticate pigs right now which indeed are right there at the farm, but wild meat actually sells at a premium). That's at least $2 Billion. I don't see why it's such a big problem. Most of the crops we grow in this country we use to feed livestock that we eat the meat from. In other words, we eat pork so it's a lot better than say possums eating crops. Life gives you lemons, make lemonade. I knew somebody who used to say: "Rabbits are eating some of my garden, but I don't mind so much as I'm eating some of those rabbits!"
Best way to deal with feral hogs, dont go to store and buy pork. Take rifle and go to nearest feral hogs population, pick your pork for free, win win situation.

Lets just say they can kill 1000 hogs a day using this method. Total bounty would be $5000. How much does it cost to lease a helicopter? How about fueling the helicopter? How about travel to and from the location? Ammo? Paying the pilot? Paying the shooter? You see the problem? It costs a LOT more than $5 to kill a single hog.
Novel challenges require novel solutions.
Well, you have a bevy of moronic bigots in charge at the state capital. The rethugulins have no interest in governing. They really don’t know how ,nor do they care. Bigotry and greed are their motivators. They do everything in their power to make women second class citizens. They hate women and continually treat them as chattel. Until you get rid of the pigs in your government, you will have pigs on your property. The people you have put in charge, care nothing about your problems. Vote Blue in every race. It’s the only way to change your situation. Hopefully you won’t freeze to death this winter when the grid fails again.
It'll never get fixed because it makes more money to sell all these "remedies" that dont do full eradication in the long run. Somebody has to be paid.
The population of Kaua'i is about 80,000 and the estimated population of pua'a (boars) is probably at least 300,000. They destroy forests and need to be eliminated. A controversial subject because hunting has become a traditional activity, though my understanding was original Hawaiians didn't hunt them but kept them domesticated. Gee-I wonder why? They destroy native plants. They cause phenomenal erosion and because they love human food, they destroy human food supplies. Some of them weigh 300+ lbs and they are mostly muscle, despite the moniker "pig"-and being so smart, you can't fool them with tricks, you have to fence them out or in.
I am more worried about the hog in uniform than these!
Not to be confused with Chinas Texas farmlands
Hogs mix with corn and you get 50% corn raised fish of assorted kinds of marketable fish some grow fast others cost more but take longer to grow up. fish in a hole feed by a sprinkler set on a timer and really what's left but wait til harvest
get some profits back for damages mix them hogs with a little grain grind them up bake them into fish pellets and raise catfish and let the fish farmers have a hay day for free fish food
fish farm leftovers mixed with grain and baked into hog food pellets it's a give and take deal cash on both sides
I disagree hunting with guns but when the problem is as big as it is then yeah it's a case of having to,
I was taking a trip to Savana, GA from Jacksonville, FL and I seen those animals in packs along the way. I seen fences getting taken down by a group of those animals. They were so many. All types of colors lol I thought these animals were apart of those farms. I was wrong.

Watching this I got an image of these hogs continuing to increase in number in the aftermath of an apocalypse, and evolving to grow as large as and numberless as the American bison once were; with the surviving tribes of human hunting them like the Plains Indians once did bison.☹️
Or surviving tribes of humans being hunted because their meager crops and the flesh in their bones are the last remaining food source for them
Like planet of the apes but with hogs
One of the ways to reduce the number of wild boars, hunting in a helicopter is great
They're not doing ALOT OF good for some areas in Sothern MISSOURI and N.E. ARKANSAS EITHER.

It's been a long time since I've watched the movie, but if I recall correctly, these are what killed Old Yeller. 😢
It was getting rabies from a bat, but he did save the boy from hogs I think.
What can these be used for? It has to have some type of purpose. Food for zoos? Skins for clothing? Bones for ?
fertilizer
Food for people also, they are good eating.
Y’all should see the hogs that run thru my property in Liberty, Tx. My son and and I hunt them often.
Then....fence it.

They love treats. Barrel fed from Glocks and High powered rifles.
How about turning the problem into a career. The united states could pay citizens for each hog they kill. Problem solved
Well we don't rent pigs and I figure it's better to say it right out front because a man that does like to rent pigs is... he's hard to stop!
"America's Texas Farmlands"?
Nope. Texan's Texas Farmlands
Computer controlled, belt fed sniping rifle equipped with night vision and suppressor, and delivers either head shot or heart shot to feral pigs.
Sounds good till a fat kid runs across the field
I hope they retrieve them for food.

Yeah, otherwise it's a waste of good meat and money
They aren't good for eating. They're quite nasty. Nothing like a bacon hog at all.
What's the difference between a feral hog, a boar and a pig from a farm?
I’m not %100 sure but if you let a pink pig out into the wild in 3 months it will grow hair and look like a hog
Meat 🍖 in my fridge
When you say "hog" I believe you are referring to Boat. Boar are natural and truly wild animals.
Feral pigs are Domesticated Pigs, a different species bred by humans over thousands of years.
A big problem with feral pigs is that we bred them to have as many babies as possible as quickly as possible. So when they go wild they have approximately 40 babies per year, and it overwhelms the local ecosystem
@@KappaKiller108 so yes and no, majority of the hogs in texas are boars brought over from europe for the hunting sports
Why not use bait and C4? No toxic pollution, efficient and humane elimination, doesn't teach survivors to fear humans next time they're hunted.
Because you have to make sure you don't unintentionally kill native (non-hog) species.

Wolves are the only solution.
why use sbr's? Wouldn't a 16"-18" rifle be better for velocity from a chopper?
Firearms, choppers and wild hogs. What could possibly go wrong?!
sounds like a good time.
cant we feed them to the homeless??
I wish!! But the US makes it illegal to feed the hungry. They encourage throwing things away that are still good instead. Including life saving medications and food. Heartbreaking
Right? But it’s America
@@patoteto2 EXACTLY! profit over everything!
It's neither safe nor economically viable.
These animals carry a lot of diseases and parasites and it's more expensive to hunt and transport them than farm bred pigs who are safe to eat.
Turn them into bacon
There is nothing unethical about killing these hogs.
They say the big ones taste terrible
Why dont you try to eat?
8:25 Why do people need to learn more about it? That will do nothing to erradicate feral hogs.
Best way to deal with feral hogs, dont go to store and buy pork. Take rifle and go to nearest feral hogs population, pick your pork for free, win win situation.
We hunt them here in GA at night and also with pitbull dogs...

So humans shouldn't eat. We should just starve to death I guess. Can't hunt. Can't plant crops. Or maybe you think the food at the market just magically appears on the shelves.
Someone needs to invent a birth control feed
So in 5 years nothing has been done. Smh.
Well, it’s the south mostly. Rethugulins are in charge. They hate the redneck “farmers”, so it’s no surprise nothing is done.
Make them a upscale center plate menu item, problem solved. How many times has that happened!!!!!? Everytime!!
Why do they have to sell the meat from the ones that they trap, overseas? Is it legal to sell it in the U.S? Or is there just not a big enough demand?
Not a large demand. The older mature hogs have a different taste. They like the flavor overseas. I'll eat em.
@@brendens5961 Is it gamey? Is that why Americans don't like it?
@@Melissa0774 yeah. I don't mind it. The mature boars are the nastiest(I won't mess with it). The females are fine just soak the meat in milk. I say it's the nastiest, but never had it to cook so maybe it could be ok prepared the right way. Most of the issue is a loss of hunting to feed, and the gain of trophy hunting.
@@brendens5961 Maybe they should thin out the hog population by using them for dog food, then. I wonder if they're as good for dogs as other types of meat. If they did do that, it'd probably be really expensive, so they'd have to come up with some unique reason why it's better for dogs than other foods.
@@Melissa0774 as a kid I hunted, and brought a meal to the table. I see an alligator gar thrown on the river bank, and I see waisted meat. Others call it a trash fish.
We are in mid Missouri and grow chestnuts and pawpaws. Hogs would make our operation untenable.
If they are this big of a problem, then pigs shouldn't be legal as pets. Should only be allowed as a food source.
