@@sufrihadi I would speak for myself. When i buy a drink, the purpose is to quench my thirst. For $1, I would rather pay for a canned drink than get bottled water for the same price. However, if water is free, it meets my purpose of quenching my thirst, i would not spend $1 to pay for any drink.
That's where the dislikes come from
Have the water cooler installed in a general vicinity near hawker center or coffee shop (not inside the stalls) that way vendors cant complain and public must walk the short distance to get their cold water FOC.

I bring my water bottle wherever I go. I refill the water from the tap! It saves me lots of money, and reduces my plastic use.
Same here, people think we're stingy but, we save money bonus, we decrease pollution and decrease waste and decrease cleaners time and energy!!!
These ppl who buy water from France and such, are wasting so much carbon footprint as they pay for the water to be air flown to Singapore, then delivered to the supermarket.

I live close to the city of Evian. And when I see that you can find bottles of Evian water as far as Singapour, I'm shocked.
What is wrong with this world that we have to send some H2O to the other side of the planet ? When we're supposed to reduce CO2 emissions, plastic waste and air pollution ?
Please if the tap water where you live is drinkable then drink it ! Marketing for bottled water is really aggresive but don't fall for it
People don't trust infrastructure, just look at scandals like Flint,Michigan. I drink tap water but there are regularly water contaminations in Pittsburgh. The only reason I drink tap water is because I know that I'll be exposed regardless due to tap water being used in cooking and cleaning and so on. Among other things that I get exposed to that will likely kill me first.
That all being said if I was rich I would rather have cleaner drinking water but tap is free pretty much so I drink it to save money.

It depends. The, Main thing is water bottle there no difference for health benefit I guess you can said?. Only, big difference water company industry just add tons of chemicals the 2 most big factor common is Chlorine & Flourine so yes it isn't natural nor found in natural and since it kill all bacteria even the good ones it the main issue which is why people avoid tap water at all cost some even boil it and filtered same make sense. You can't even put Aquarium in it they die if it so toxic to Aquarium what about Human? O. Same goes water bottle you must careful what you pick to simply nature find water e.g would be Evian, Fuji and any related to Spring/Mountain rainforest purify type water it for the best or Distile water.
Best, to go it is to use filtered water you wanna set Alkaline or equal to Spring water taste or Distile water 100% etc. Tap water it is still good for general cleaning purporse or others thing etc

Funny how the water coolers still need frequent filter changes, or even filters at all!
I, think they do that because well general SG it one of top country cleanliest tap water versus other country 100% clean no issue. But, in SG water coolers using filters it's just to remove chemicals and flourine+chlorine that PUB has putting on it so hence that why. They, do that and you can taste very different tap water taste vs water coolers with filter from tap water connected.
Honestly a water cooler could affect the revenue of drink stalls. Because when going to food court, for me, I only buy a drink just to quench my thirst. And since a sweet drink is only abit more expensive than bottled water, only then I'll buy the drink

the best water is boiled water
I am already doing it although the free HPB bottle given to me leaves an plastic after taste if I let the water stands over night. For filter I use a simple Osim tap filter.
I still see people wash hands, wash mouth, spit into it, snorts, wash slippers, throw tissue paper into it.
At home yes, but not outside, God knows what's happening to the cleanliness of the tap

Tap water is cleanliness for Singapore no issue it quite one of top country to have very cleanliness 100% on tap water Be in Home or Outside anyway. Only, downside contain chemicals and 2 common Chlorine and Flourine so it just up to you what you wanna do about it.

2 points of contention here:
Recently Fairprice wanted to sell plastic bags for your groceries. If they are so concerned about plastic pollution, why don't they stop selling drinking water in plastic bottles? Why? Because drinking water brings profit. Containing your groceries in plastics are not profitable . I detect some hypocrisy here.
2ndly, you don't approach a drink stall selling drinks (this case... water) for a living and tell the owner you propose an idea to give free water.

Those who really drink water everyday should know that not all water taste the same. I did a blind test for water tasting with tap water and several brands bottled water and still concluded that tap water doesn't taste that nice.
Yes, exactly people doesn't know water can taste difference and like you said tap water doesn't taste that nice which is why some people avoid. Main factor why doesn't taste nice because of chemicals tons involved and 2 most common Chloride & Flourine and especially chloride added that hinder taste not nice. All, these also not found in natural from spring water too and cause of chloride killing good bacteria you cannot taste some good bacteria on it versus Spring water if you to just drink source of it.

The only time where I am more than happy to drink tap water is when I go back for reservist in Sungei Gedong. The water from the water cooler taste really funky. Even the tap water taste better.

Most of the drink stalls owners are the owners of the coffee shops, they wont really push for coolers (with maintenance cost ) to compete with their drinks profit :)
Why put water coolers when they can profit off bottled water?
The other problem in Singapore, a real bugbear, many F&B are refusing to offer water (including tap water) free. Insisting that we purchase their bottled water. Perhaps the relevant authorities should review and consider making it mandatory for tap water to be offered free.

Been drinking straight from the tap in Singapore for the past 50 years. No issues. Won't do it elsewhere e.g. when I travel. Then, I drink bottled water for safety reasons.

This is the second presentation on water that you have presented, I have watched in a row, I love the way you SHOW that people are influenced by the BIG BRAND COMPANIES and the visual sight of the waste in our water around us. When I think of the things that are put down the drain in my country WOW it scares me. But the reality is that we have great water filtration systems in my city. IT IS NOT FREE we pay for water coming into the home and water going out of our homes. BUT HAVE YOUS ASKED the people that work at these plants DO they drink tap water? I am also VERY CONCERNED about plastic bottles and how they are recycled . WE know some are returned for deposit BUT most are recycled, some TO MANY are thrown into the community LANDFILLS. People are under the spell of BIG COMPANIES like Coca Cola and Pepsi Cola how also can tribute to drinks like water, juice and sugar drinks. SOTHE ARE A BIG PROBLEM. Good efforts but there are misleading/ misinformed information presented.
Investing in whole house filter, RO with mineralization. Extremely pricey. Everything will be filtered. Super pricey. Contaminates in my zip code on EWG…. Bad. Be well everyone on here, everyone deserves healthy water. In the states, the tap is 80% contaminated throughout the country.
Why not carry a 2.5 litre water bottle with tap water from home in a sling bag? If you work in an office, you can always drink from the pantry water cooler or tap water from the sink.
I thought most singaporeans will boil their water?! Unlike other countries like South Korea where they drink from bottled water
My question is why is there even a filter in the water cooler in the first place when the tap water is clean?
Because old infrastructure can leach containments to the water as it travels to your house and different sources of water can have unpleasant odor or taste which a filter helps to remove

One suggestion most of the times we are forced to buy the bottled water due to lack of tap water option at hotels restaurants n public places. If Singapore can make a law that all commercial n public establishment must provide tap water as alternative for customers to choose among the bottled water and tap water atleast we will have some alternative to choose from
my advise to singaporean people watch bear grylls show then get some courage to drink tap water.

Filter water especially carbon filter have better taste, and when use to make drinks.

Well having a water cooler at a food court or hawker center will probably affect beverage sales. They generate the most profit. It's probably why the Uncle in the video was so hesitant.
Isn't there something like 'pure it' or 'brita' in sg? I went to sg back in 2013, and I just drank the tap water right away in Geylang, that wasn't exactly good so I bought bottled water after. but I thought that with boiling or some more filters it'd be fine. and probably carrying bottle from home
Please share the report CNA, not just part of the report. Besides lead and arsenic, how about Chlorine and flouride levels in the water? Tap water is clean yes, not e coli but are there OTHER heavy metals??
I will drink tap water that is filtered but not directly from the tap. As for bottled water, Evian is the best tasting one ever!
The filter doesn't do much other than remove some of the odor and minerals which may improve taste.

Tap water does feel too tasty. Boiled water works better. Don't bacteria algae grow in water tank and pipes? But mineral, bottled water and alkaline waters are for suckers or places with poor water treatments.

One time in Mexico I drank 100% mineral water from untouched nature itself that was located on a very small island. It was the cleanest water I have ever seen, seeing the bottom of the pond clearly. I cannot describe how different that water was from any other water I have ever drank. It is like complete night and day. It did have a strong taste to it but I think that was the taste of all the minerals in it. I never got sick from it. I never believed in drinking bottled water either. Never thought that there was anything wrong with tap water. In Mexico people kept telling me to drink bottled water only while I was living there or I will get sick for sure but I didn't listen to them. I never got sick from Mexico's tap water, no matter what part of the country I drank from and I've been to most of the states of Mexico. It is simply a brainwash by companies for us to believe that tap water is bad for us. Of course, or how would these companies make money?

I honestly don't mind drinking water straight from the tap. Why? Because to me water is just... Water. I mean what differences can water have?
A lot of differences actually, that being said the differences don't matter much in regards to safety to consume since the human body can tolerate a wide array of things including processing even containmented water so long as you are not immune compromised.
Big difference especially tons of chemical involved and 2 common chlorine & flourine and use of chlorine to destroy all bacteria even good ones. That why some avoid+ bitter taste and that why they boil but would not remove the chemicals anyway or filter it or idk charcoal with it. Take e.g. putting tap water on Aquarium they will die due to toxin of chlorine or flourine to avoid at all cost so if it so toxic to Aquarium what about Humans?. Yup definitely will have expose and indiviual people has own different body setting I guess I say let people make their own choice however enough with so called claim Health Benefit putting placebo effect.

why would drink stall owners install water coolers when it eats into his sale of bottled water. and people choose water cooler cos most have filters in it. water is cleaner and not to mention cold
The experiment isnt a fair test as the cups used is different. The tap water is contained by a glass bottle which will make people react as the water is more 'atas', hence choosing them as their favourite water, walking into the trap of CNA's
