Volo is now my favorite character. I thought he was suspicious after he was litterally at every major plot point. At first i thought he was Arcues in Human form but the twist of him and Giratina working together to destroy the World and arcues. This game had a low expectation but its the Best pokemon game out now.
I definitely thought he was pretty suspicious, but he’s my favorite character. I actually loved the multiple tasks to fill the Pokédex entries, and enjoyed the catching all the Pokémon instead of a gym challenge thing. It’s definitely the best mainline Pokémon game, and what Pokémon should have been a long time ago.
I wish he could he mine, but from the first time I saw him I was like "This guy definitely a giratina worshipper". So when the time came, I was not surprised at all.
I was spoiled by a RUclips comment it said... (MAJOR SPOILERS!!!!) Volo caused the space-time rift to appear so he could use Arceus to create a brand new world or some s**t like that!
During the story I was like “Volo is DEFINITELY a bad guy, gonna be one of the final battles in the game I bet”, but then the credits came during the mainline story and then I said “oh, I guess I judged him too much. he must be good then.” and then this happened.
Lol he seemed very sus from the beginning until the end and then there was a mini spoiler and I’m like oh it’s battle time and bam volo showed he was crazy and evil lol
togekiss got me all the way to roserade, then porygon-z and goodra cleared the rest of his party. typhlosion (infernal parade) handled giratina. i felt like a proud parent before i remembered i was playing a video game
I’m gonna be honest, I always had a weird gut feeling about Volo, but I would push it aside. And then once the boss fight came I was like “I FREAKING KNEW IT!”
The volo fight was a complete shock to me when it happened because y'know I thought this man was nice and he just straight up tries to rob us and then proceeds to send a legendary on us 😃
@@w1nther930 Yeah he just...kept showing up, knew more about everything than any other character, would literally sneak up on the protagonist. Dude was suspicious as FUCK.
@@poppiaria i don’t remember the name of the theory but its “insert name” gun. Basicly they introduce you to a silly character that seems harmless but is actually the real mastermins
The Origin Giratina got me with the pants down. At my second attempt, Basculegion with Ominous Wind and Ice Fang did the magic with the two giratinas It was a hell of a battle. I’d like to repeat it as much as I want
Volo didn’t give off villain vibes. He seemed interested in your story and was very friendly to the point where he helped you when no one else could. Sure he was present every time something important occurred but I assumed his intentions were pure. Then you realize he was behind the distortion on his quest to find God by summoning Satan himself. This twist was great because you realize he only helped you for his own self interest.
nah dude gave off mega villain vibes just hiding behind cynthia face but any true trainer who suffered the original beat down cynthia gave you as a kid knows to never trully trust her
Rushed through the post game and reached this fight 8-14 levels underleveled. I got mad good RNG and accidentally played super well too, and it might just have been the most intense battle I've ever played. I led with Wyrdeer, which I switched into Rapidash and took down Spiritomb. Garchomp then one shot Rapidash and I brought it down with Decidueye. Togekiss erased my birb and I beat it with Luxray, who got crushed by Lucario. Zoroark finished Lucario but then got destroyed by Arcanine, who I destroyed in turn with Golduck. I had him down to just Roserade, who diced Golduck, and then it was just me and Wyrdeer, who brought it home by the skin of his teeth. I popped off so hard And then immediately got clapped by Giratina.
That's what I thought as well. My Gyarados was lucky enoug to take down Arcanine, Roserade, and Lucario. Spiritomb came next and killed Gyarados, then I switched in Gliscor and killed it. But then Calm Mind Togekiss came along and one shotted my Gliscor and Staraptor. I tried to contend with Drifblim since it could tank the hits, but I was so unlucky to get a miss on Shadow Ball and it died to it as well. Then Beautifly came along to finish off Togekiss and lastly was Garchomp. Managed to land a Stun Spore and a last Air Slash before Beautifly was down, leaving me with only a lvl 58 Togetic... which killed the Garchomp with a Dazzling Gleam. Then came Giratina.
LITERALLY same. I had Garchomp and Staraptor left after the volo fight, and they just got annihilated by giratina. took me 4 tries to beat this guy being 5 levels underleveled. and I got lucky in that attempt too, with Garchomp’s Strong Style dragon claw critting.
This is basically exactly what happened with me, I was in the high 50s in levels, and ended up trading with Volo, as well as luckily getting him to use his full restore on his Spiritomb using my Crobat. Eventually it ended up being my Half health magnezone versus his Togekiss, and I ended up winning with Thunder wave parahax. And then obviously got absolutely clapped by giratina with my half health magnezone
This fight would be hard in a normal game but I find that the arceus mechanics make this fight way harder because it pretty much forces 1 for 1 trades (due to after a pokemon faints the enemy can send in a pokemon that can immediately attack without the option of switching)
Little tip: Catch the Level 85 Alpha Garchomp in the early morning when it falls asleep (it's catch rate is mega boosted), it's in the South Western part of the Alabaster Iceland's. Highly recommend adding that additional firepower to the team
@@drtraytdm5069 Okay yeah that's the one caveat. For me at least, I was at 6 star when I first got him, so it didn't take too much research task grinding to use him. And you have to be at least Rank 5 to enter the Iceland's so it wouldn't be impossible to get to Rank 7 by the Volo fight
One thing to remember is that even though you can't heal, the cutscene between his 6th team member and Giratina counts as in between battles, which means the game WILL switch whoever is out to the top of your party list. Bit of a troll move when Giratina attacks before you can do anything and the Lucario I intended be sacrificed was instead switched for the party member integral to my strategy.
He was easily one of the hardest fights I’ve ever had in a Pokémon game. I had Cresselia too she was the MVP. I put calm mind on my Cresselia though. Sylveon helped me tremendously as well
@@rjgamehead evice was definitely hard. Ultra necrozma as well. Cynthia as well. But this one was right up there lol he bodybagged me like 4 times and giratina killed me too a bunch
Yeah you know he was a bit better at hiding the fact he was a villain better than rose from sword and shield I mean it was freaking obvious but for volo it’s not obvious at first but I think when we start collecting plates it slowly becomes suspicious
i had no idea this fight was going to be this hard. i had a team of Samurott, Alpha Zoroark, Alpha Gallade, Alpha Lucario, Cresselia, and Dialga. max revives we’re very helpful, and my Samurott took the hits when i needed to heal. it was such a tight fight, i was fighting for that win 🤣 i absolutely love Volo, he’s definitely my new favorite pokémon character!
This is the only fight I had to be overleveled for, absolutely loved it. I was getting swamped by Volo- so I trained and beat him, then BAM my last three are swept by Giratina. Probably the best Pokemon battle I've had ever, not speaking competitively. I also like how through the entire game it was normal for my Pokemon to faint, it felt like battles actually had weight and excitement. It felt good and challenging to NOT do a nuzlocke for once.
Personally was going easy on him and letting him KO 4 of my mons to make it seem like we were evenly matched. I didn't expect a 7th pokemon with two lives
I was so pissed at first when I realized it was basically the elite 4 where you start over also everything was already level 70 from the beginning especially shaymin cresselia regigigas and darkrai
I literally had to train my mons to the late 70’s, set up a strategy where my Samurott would tank Shadow Balls and Dark Pulses against Spiritomb while I revived my Pokemon. I managed to beat Giratina after I beat Volo with only 4 mons alive. I did it with no legendaries. Proud of myself
Volo makes me suffer from extreme emotional pain. I have been stuck fighting him for three days 😭😭. Imagine how I felt when I finally beat him and then he whipped out his giratina.
Another Pokémon that’s a very very good contender, and that I used, is the alpha blissey, but at level 70-80. It is a tank, it has a whole lot of defense and health, so it’s a good Pokémon to take hits while reviving the rest of your team.
I also did it with my team. My silveon and hisuian Lilligant hard carried tho since they were on Level 71 and 72. And 3 of Volos Pokemon are weak against fairy and his only coverage against fairy is Roserade which I took out with my Rapidash.
I had a huge struggle against Volo, but for some reason, after I caught, trained, and used an Alpha Gliscor, the fight became IMMEDIATELY EASIER. Somehow. I LOVE GLISCOR!!
For grinding, theres also the option of an Alpha Blissey guarenteed in the Obsidian Fieldlands, which can drop Large or XL Candies along with the huge XP
Doesn't Alpha Blissey heal frequently though all while being super tanky? I remember fighting an alpha Chansey and it took me forever to actually catch it because it would just heal everytime I got its hp down just a little
So when I first found Volo, and he was coming around… I always questioned what his motives were because it was a little bit suspicious how he was always around at the most important parts of the game… I haven’t even beat the post game and I am absolutely gobb smacked
I Didn’t really struggle much beating volo after my first try or second try because I had a pretty balanced team, BUT even after beating volo i only had 2 pokemon and they were both at low hp so giratina DESTROYED me and when i finally killed it It completely demolished me in its second phase.
Just wanna say there’s a slightly better grinding method, there’s an alpha blissey at the cliff of “Overburrow Tunnel” kill it over and over to gain a lot of EXP in a pretty short time
btw my method for beating him was a bit weird but basicall palkia hisuan tyhplosion garchomp that one level 70 gardevoir hisuan electrode and crobat with a level 70 palkia and a level 70 gardevior make sure the palkia doesnt die in the volo fight nor the electrode then switch to the electrode to max revive the garevior i reccomend having 6 max revives just in case which you should be able to get after doing most of the shop sidequests with this strategy you dont need legendaries and only typhlosion gardevior and palkia need to be above level 65
Thank you so much Tony I have finally beat Volo with this team. He was so annoying to beat and it kept taking a long time. But thanks to the team you suggested and I finally won against him.
My togakiss and cresselia were overleveled due to training a gabite from level 22 to somewhere in the 60’s so they were able to two shot both gartina forms with moonblast
There's an easier method, IMO- In Alabaster Icelands, Blissey are a guaranteed Spawn. As long as you have a physical attacker, and hit them from the back, you can kill the Blissey without any issues after the blissey are both killed, rest at a campsite until another time of day, and repeat.
@@dededetheboi9913 Ooh, nice. I just do the two Blissey in Icelands because it's consistent, and I can stay in the area without going through loading zones.
First hint I noticed towards him being a twist villain was when he is talking about info he got about the lake guardians and he said “I was talking to those Ginko Guild members” and Cogita notices it and says “you say it like you’re not one of them”
Personally, I was admittedly very much overleveled for this fight due to my tendency to sidetrack to extreme levels. I just had to fill up not just the pokedex but build up a livingdex before I proceeded. But one thing I noticed in my playthrough though that really helped with this fight is that if anything is truly OP in this game are high speed pokemons, doubly so with +action speed moves. I've been using my fav pokemon Weavile the entire playthrough as soon as I got him early on in a distortion and noticed many trainer battles couldn't even get a turn against my weavile spamming agile ice shard and finishing off target with stronger moves when their hp was brought low enough (also while throwing a few sword dances) even if they had 4 pokemons to throw at me. Didn't have to use legendaries in the story at all since my weavile could just sweep most opponents with raw speed. I've even replaced some pokemons from my team in favor of faster alternatives to much greater results. So Volo, while stronger than anything else, went down not because I tanked the hits, but because he didn't get to throw as many attacks as he could have, and his fastest pokemon, garchomp, happened to be weakest to my favorite. Giratina did more to my team by himself than all of Volo's team combined tbh if only because of constantly obscuring itself (which I would have put Zoroark at the front for had I known). For reference, my team was the following: Weavile (with +speed -sp atk nature), Luxray, Scizor, Garchomp (who replaced gastrodon), Zoroark and Decidueye (who didn't get used, he was mostly my false swiper throughout the game, I do love him but then Weavile happened).
It was the same at my playthrough: I did also a living pokedex, and also bring all of my pokemon in the pokedex on research level 10, so that I only need to bring the research up for those legendaries I haven't catch. Well through this I was around 10 levels overleveled for this fight xD. My team was Samurott, Arcanine, Lucario, Gardevoir, Zoroark and Mamoswine And omg Zoroark was definitely the MVP in this fight xD
I didn't do a living dex, but I did get sidetracked by every side quest before this fight, I also regularly caught Alphas and boosted their stats with grit items, so I had no trouble with Volo
Same for me guys I was sidetracked by the actual point of the game lol i didn't want to catch/use legendary pokemon till after I fought arceus , anyway I managed to beat him with my team at the mid 70s.
In the alabaser icelands around the bottom left corner of the map, there’s an alpha garchomp that’s level 85 I was able to 2 shot origin form giritina because of it
dude thank you so much i finally beat volo I've been trying for 5 days and you really helped me a lot, finally I succeeded, now the last mission is the road to arceus
I really like it how the 3 hardest battles in the franchise all are in the the 4 latest games (Ultra Necrozma in US/UM, Cynthia in BDSP and now Volo in Legends: Arceus). They're definitely moving in the right direction when it comes to difficulty
@@brokenflyingcat4213 nah, more difficulty is a good thing. that was the biggest problem with X/Y; it was practically impossible to loose any of the battles, especially against the elite 4 and the champion. the final bosses of a game should be somewhat difficult, like Cynthia, ultra necrozma, and of course, Volo
@@dumdum672 More difficulty is a good thing if it wasn’t literally unfair. In BDSP Cynthia’s team has perfect stats and IV’s plus all of them have held items. You can’t even see IV’s until after you beat the league, so matching Cynthia’s level isn’t gonna work. You are practically forced to over level your pokemon. AND VOLO IS EVEN WORSE! He literally breaks the 1 rule that has been in pokemon since the beginning: you can only have 6 pokemon on a team. Volo has 8. 2 of them being legendaries.
I beat this fight on my first try. But I came prepared for it by Maxing out ELs in stats I found vital to the pokemon's role. And even then I left the fight with only my goodra and ursaluna alive. This fight was brutal and actually required me to plan and strategize which is something you'd only really do In competitive pokemon or a challenge run. I loved this fight and wished pokemon was more like this. A challenging puzzle that requires strategy to beat and feels rewarding to beat.
Same here, beat him on my first try! I didn’t even realize this was the hardest fight in the game at the time. Most of my Pokémon had level 7 ELs in all stats because I’d been using the same ones for almost the whole game. I only ended up using 4 of my Pokémon to win the fight, and only two of them fainted. The Pokémon I used were as followed: Gardevior: An alpha of which I found as a Ralts early on in the game, had a electric, psychic, fairy, and fighting type move. Shiny Rapidash: Only level 54 at the time of the fight. Knew hypnosis though and was a big help nonetheless. Alpha Pachirisu: One of the two hard carry’s on my team. Knew a paralysis move along with a steel type move. Didn’t end up fainting. Switched it out for Floatzel at one point during the fight. Floatzel: The first Buizel I was forced to catch. Stuck with me till the end and was THE hard carry. Aqua tail allowed it to keep taking turns before Volo even stood a chance. Also knew Ice Beam. Pokémon I didn’t use but were on my party: Typhlosion: Knew Overheat. Highest leveled on my team. Just never felt the need to send him out for some reason. Roserade: Knew a poison type move. That’s about it.
You have no idea how many times I’ve cursed seeing that there was a harder boss fight THREE TIMES IN A ROW! This has made me believe that if there is a Satan-like figure running around Earth, he is the one who came up with this scene.
Some really good Pokemon you can find for this fight are : 1) Alpha empoleon (lvl65, needs some levelling, spawn on the coastlands) 2) Alpha goodra (Lvl 70, coronet highlands) 3) Alpha Lucario (Lvl 70, alabaster icelands) Steel types are amazing in this game, goodra and empoleon are tanks and also hit pretty hard, empoleon has access to roost as well. Lucario hits so damn hard, mine took out almost 4 of volos Pokemon before he went down. Good luck!
@@georgedooley8247 I caught it using stealth using the potion that masks your presence and using smoke bombs to hide into. Then finally distracted him with a berry for the giga ball throw on its back. Took me about 5 tries to get him but it's worth it. Having a jolly alpha Garchomp sure is amazing.
For me, I utilized bulk up and self healing to literally tank all of his hits from Giratina. My main Pokemon was an alpha Heracross who was practically immune to moves like earth power Ironically, I was able to get Volo during my first attempt. So I guess my team selection was just a lucky one
I just used my (VERY UNDERLEVELED) pokemon, Specifically Goodra and Lilligant to switch max revives and stuff. After Giratina (1) was dead, I got really lucky and KO'd Giratina Origin with a crit draco meteor
Basically most op strat in game. Bulk up/calm mind & heal. Most broken pokemon to use it on are legend plate arceus or considering he isnt available for volo- defensive nature cresselia. Calm mind Psychic(same type attack damage) Moonblast(dragons & to counter dark types) Lunar Dance(heals & opponent misses) On pokemon that you know cant one hit KO, calm mind(meaning you take no damage & destroy), lunar dance heal(opponent misses, back to full hp), wipe opponent. You can take down the entirety of Volo & Giratina without needing another pokemon.
I also got through volo on my first try. My team was fairly average. Being hisuian goodra, samurot, sylveon, toxicroak, kleavor, and a gliscor. Personally didnt have much of an issue with volo, had to use a few revives on giritina since i was messing around on volo and wasnt ready for giritina
My experience First try: Lost to Volo. Second try: Beat Volo, pretty confident. And then along came giratina. Third try: Beat Volo and Giratina. Confident. Then second phase giratina. Fourth try: Finally beat both due to stalling his last pokemon, spiritomb, with my samurott while I revived the rest of my team.
The reason this fight was so difficult for me was because I had absolutely no strategy going into the fight. Team I used was Typhlosion, Garchomp, Luxray, Origin Palkia, Origin Dialga, and Gengar. Got insanely lucky at the end of the fight when hypnosis hit giratina, immediately prevented him from attacking (which would have ended the fight) and I was able to hit him with Hex
me too! i had Samurott, Alpha Zoroark, Alpha Gallade, Alpha Lucario, Cresselia, and Dialga and hoped for the best! 🤣 Zoroark was insanely helpful bc of the dark type moves, Samurott wasn’t as damaged by Giratina, and Dialga was effective and had a super effective move i finished it off with!
Another quick heads up for those who don't know. If you release a bunch of Pokemon at once from the pastures, they'll leave grit items behind. I'm not sure of the pattern/algorithm for it but, I find if you release a bunch at once you can get A LOT of grit dust, pebbles, rocks, etc.
It would be worse. Cuz he would have held items and full restores up the wazoo like his descendent… Cynthia was no cake walk without a freaking giratina
it is the entire problem got shadow attacked 3 times in a row which 1 shot my lvl 70 pokemon and i wasnt allowed to do anything against it + the terrible long cutscenes
I defeated him first try without watching any videos, not realising it was him being the end game boss, but destroyed him, having only my snorelax faint 😅 Didn't realize he was powerful, managed to melt giratina too haha
This fight was amazing. I was able to beat it with my normal team just leveling up a bit more. But everything mostly died in one hit still. The saving grace was my team was not full so I used abomasnow than goodra. With goodra I was able to tank a few hit revive everything on his last pokemon and start giratina with a full team. While beating giratina with one pokemon left.
I'm not sure if it's because I've played Pokemon for years, but I didn't find him as difficult as most of the comments I'm seeing would suggest. Definitely the most challenging fight in the game for sure, but Cynthia in the D/P remakes is definitely MUCH more difficult imo
I agree I didn’t have to use legendarys or anything I had goodra, sylveon, gliscor, honchkrow, Walrein And zoroark and beat him with losing like 2 Pokémon I think 😂 my highest Pokémon was gliscor level 73 and lowest was 61 sylveon
Mine were around level 80, and I did relatively fine. Had to max revive a few but tanks like rhydon give that room I think I had some luck with an alpha nine tails you can find on volcano Island
Same, I did it first try, I didn't even have to use one of my pokemon (the one I had to find absolutely ages to find because I didn't pick it as my starter). My team was Alpha Garchomp (level 78) Alpha Togekiss (level 70) Dialga (Level 77) Forgot it's name but the final evolution of Oshawott (level 70), Cressilia (Level 74) and Alpha Blissey (Level 75). I had to use a few max revives though. Somehow, my garchomp managed to one shot the 2nd form. Most of my team could take 2 hits from Volo's team, and combined with the fact that most of his pokemon got oneshotted by my team so he only managed to use one potion, yeah, the fight was really easy.
I beat Cynthia in bdsp first try but then again I used items. For volo I'm trying to do it with no items but i have lost like 10 times.. items are so op
Tbh, the thing i like about volo's fight is that while you get basically every legendary before it, you actually have to think and can't just normally brute force. tips for those going to try it? don't try to get hit with volo using a triple turn
To be honest I went with my own strategy and it still worked without wasting any revives but this one is actually pretty good now I know that training in the village is a thing lol
Just gotta love those twists that leave your jaw on the floor. I had no idea volo was gonna be a villain, I actually liked his character because I knew how he felt before turning. He seemed like a dude that just wanted to help me, in order to see all of these events that are literally going to be in the history books. It makes a lot of sense, so when he ended up as a villain, I liked his character even more. Witnessing history being made wasn't enough, he wanted to create that history. I simply love the concept of Volo's character, a villain that has devoted their life to a cause to the point of insanity. I can't think of a scenario that would make sense for Volo returning in a DLC for this game, but I would love to see him return.
I always kept the normal variant of weavile on my team. Found him in a space time rift and kept him ever since because he's rare. I always considered ditching him, but boy did he come in clutch. 3 factors made him so close. For one he's one of the fastest pokemon in the game, so I can consistently do calm mind (or swords dance) into a strong attack. He also has a really high attack stat. Togekiss is arguably the strongest mon on his team excluding giratina, and ice punch one shots it, because x4 weakness, and togekiss low df stat. Ice punch is also super effective against garchomp, who is also brutal. The only problem is that Lucario destroys weavile. (Also My team was decidueye, Gardevoir, alpha umbreon, weavile, alpha goodra, and alpha togekiss)
After seeing this I decided to swap Sneasler for Weavile and in my experience Weavile was always fast enough to switch in, spam a few agile ice shards until the other pokemon fainted, and switch out and still have it be my turn.
Volo was such a refreshing change of pace. I was, needless to say, not prepared for Round 2 and 3 of that fight. IT WAS EPIC. I did scrape through with like 12 hp remaining on my last Mon, but what an experience. Such a change of pace from 1 or 2 hit KO everything else in my path. Pokemon games encourage exploration and leveling your pokemon. But then it punishes you for doing that by making the rest of the game so utterly incomprehensibly easy that it's almost not worth playing (Save to get to the areas to get more pokemon to complete my dex). Volo changed all of that, my starter was lvl 90, my lowest level pokemon was 64 and still I nearly didn't make it. That's a challenge worth overcoming. Scarlet/Violet did a little bit of this once you got off the railroad tutorial, but I only stumbled into over leveled areas twice I think. I loved getting sent packing because I was under leveled and unprepared. Challenge accepted game, I'ma go get swol and come back and stomp you. (alas, no lvl scaling meant that once you did beat the hardest spawn it was basically over minus tera raids)
When I fought Volo, my final team was Weavile, Porygon-Z, Sylveon, Alolan Ninetales, Bastiodon, and Rampardos. The grit items were invaluable here. My stats had EVs of 7 all around, with the main attacking stat of each one with an EV of 9. Levels of around 68, matching Volo. The strategy of a bulky Pokemon to stall while you heal your team is the way to go, especially if Togekiss is the last Pokemon he has. Bastiodon walls it. Then once your team is fully healed, I just had a raw slugfest with Giratina using every super effective move I had and it went down. Crazy fight. Loved it.’
you hit the nail right on the head with every statement you made. i had the same thought process as you the entire way through the game, volo is the hardest trainer ever.
Excellent analysis and strategy! I ended up scraping by with my original team - Typhlosion, Gardevoir, Snorlax, Goodra, Gastrodon and Lilligant (and I don't think I ended up using Lilligant at all, actually). Goodra's shelter move especially came in clutch.
I had a team of my samurott, goodra, dusknoir, ursaluna, braviary, and infernape. However they were all alpha and around five levels higher than giratina. For the Volo fight ursaluna took out 5 of them on its own, cause it’s a great mon, and goodra just let me stall until I beat giratina
I had a fairly similar team. Typhlosion, Goodra, Lilligant, Frosslass, Walrein, and Umbreon. Did a little switching but most were part of my primary team
I mostly used a Alpha Blissey there a n absolute tank against special attacks and have alot of health bit can be one shotted by Lucarios Close combat if he buffed
I was really afraid of this battle for some reason, so I decided to grind to low level 80's and it still was close, my Sylveon was the only one left, and it definitely was the MVP. He ended up tanking all of Giratina's attacks and killed it. Man it was stressful.
The best strategy honestly is to have at least 1 tank in your team, which u can take out and use revives on the others. Unlike the normal pokemon games where speed is the meta, in this game u want a tanky team because of how the battles work.
Accidentally leveled up my two mains crobat and decidueye to level 90 since I was having fun filling out the pokedex, and got lucky with giratina missing shadow force in its origin form so the battle probably went a bit easier than intended. But I still thought it was super fun!! In-game Trainers with actually good teams are always cool to analyse
3:48 Mine was the following: -Palkia -Decidueye -Ninetails -Dialga -Golem (Shiny) -Gyarados They ranged in levels from low 60s to low 70s and yes, I still needed to revive spam even after a lot of grinding!
I had: Decidyueye (63) Umbreon (63) Gengar (59) Arcanine (58) Gardevior (59) Luxray (63) I managed to beat it first try by absuing the fact that my umbreon is a WALL to rez my entire party after phase 1
@@raiyano7436 I should consider my alpha umbreon for a team. It’s in the high 50s but still. Hell I thought about darkai but not sure. I need to train one of my eevee into a sylveon for sure, and get my Kirlia into a high level gardevior. Heck may even though snorlax and blissey into the fray as my walls with high attack power.
@@notimeleft1 I definitely recommend umbreon, mine is at level 64 now and it has 317 Sp. Def and 297 Def with 342 HP and can use calm mind and power swap. Umbra is an absolute beast.
@@raiyano7436 I know I’m gonna add my newly acquired lvl 85 garchomp to the Frey. I’ll definitely do umbreon and I’m working on gardevoir leveling her up
Took so many tries for me to beat Volo since I wanted to do it without grinding. On my winning attempt I got some really good RNG with my Torterra and it ended up beating Giratina by itself! Definitely the most fun boss fight I’ve had out of any game.
The switching in the game is tough too, you can’t just switch out Pokémon in preparation for his next one. He’ll be able to get in a hit or two before you can switch out and it can really mess you up
i don't think switching in preparation is the issue i usually played on set mode so you will always get hit with something usually if you don't outspeed or something him switching a pokemon in and attacking the same turn was more the problem
I had a lot more trouble with remake Cynthia, she took me about 6 tries while I beat Volo on my second try, only because I wasn't expecting a fight and two of my pokemon were in the pasture the first time. Maybe it's because my team was better this time around or I just got lucky.
It took me 4 battles o finally face the first Giratina... I was so happy when I'd beaten him in the 3rd fight that I hadn't noticed there was a second Giratina... Man, this is, by far, the most exciting Pokémon battle.
I was really underleveled for this, but beat him on my 3rd try with the same team, I think I just got lucky with how much my team countered his, and admittedly I did use palkia but that was only used to finish off origin form guratina. I didn’t realise others struggled with this fight
Me too. I beat him first time, but my team was almost Level 100 (I was completing Pokédex entries and farming money from the Miss Fortune sisters before the fight so I got lots of xp).
@@gandalfdiggory same my Pokémon were around level 80 cause all the stuff I did for the Pokédex and I just ran through him lol. My shiny gyrados destroyed half his team, shaymin was the only Pokémon I had that fainted.
My current team against this religious edge lord: Goodra, Glaile, Zoroark, Heatran, Gallade, & Electivire. I was inches away from victory with Origin Giratina’s health like 5/8ths down, but Glaile’s Strong Style Blizzard decides to miss. The 1 in 10 chance happened when I needed it least
On my very first attempt, I was so disheartened when I killed Giratina, only to see it resurrect in the origine forme. I only had 1 pokemon left at that point and I wiped. If I had some max revives, I probably could have pulled it off on my first try. I didn't have them lol. I didn't think I would need them. haha. There is a level 85 garchomp you can just catch actually. I forget where I found it, but it does exist. Online resources say it's at Avalanche Slopes.
This fight kinda made me realize how broken the battle system is in arceus. I had palkia out, knocked out one of his pokemons, he switches in togekiss which agile + normal moonblast one shots palkia before I can switch out. When it’s hard to not go 1 for 1 its a really hard fight when it essentially is a 6v8 with his team being Cynthia’s champion team, one of the hardest battles from Pokémon + 2 legendaries
i remember getting completely stomped by his giratina the first time I fought him. I was happy when I beat him with 1 pokemon remaining but then came giratina.... so I grinded my team to lvl 70 and effort levels to 8. this made it very easy tbh. grinding is your friend!
From my experience it wasn’t that hard. My team was: luxray, staraptor, hisui typhlosion, sylveon, and empoleon, all around lvl 63. I lead with luxray as I taught it play rough and I kept sylveon for giratina (though I did end up using one max revive). With this team I had a solid answer to every pokemon of his.
I had kind of the same team : Empoleon , Hisuan Liligant , Hisuan Typhlosion , Garchomp ( Baron ) , Togekiss and Alola Ninetales. The fight was okay and i managed to do it first try ( giratina fight included ). Giratina fight ( and the music ) was quite surprising and awesome ❤
when i tell you i was not prepared for this fight! i went out and caught 4 alpha pokémon just for this fight! I ended up using Dialga, Cresselia, Alpha Mamoswine, Alpha Yanmega, Alpha Electivire and Alpha Gliscor! i tried my best to keep dialga unused ready for giratina and when i finally beat him i screamed
Honestly, I wasn't expecting this much when I got to the bossfight. Before the few missions that are before the post game, I was very over leveled in almost every fight that are not the early game trainer fights since I was just exploring the world and catching more pokemon than I usually would in a game. Now when I got to this fight, I was using- Samerot: Swords Dance/Aqua Jet/Ceaseless Edge/Poison Jab A Maxed Out Effort Level Liligant: Victory Dance/Drain Punch/Leaf Storm (I recently realized that move is not as good on Hisuian Liligant, but whatever)/Aerial Ace Sneasler: Bulk Up/Drain Punch/Poison Jab/Shadow Claw Luxray: Wild Charge/Ice Fang/Crunch/Quick Attack Weavile: Ice Punch/Night Slash/Rock Smash (I'm stubborn for coverage like that, but the defense drops helps like that)/Swords Dance Leafeon: Leaf Blade/Swords Dance/X-Scissor/Iron Tail(It's coverage is pretty trash) Yeah, kinda a casual/competitively built team of favorites. Honestly I first tried the entire volo fight because of my set up moves in tandem with the agile style battle mechanic and coverage moves. I would also like to note how strong Liligant's Victory Dance is, she adapts a hard hitting stance (which doubles damage if I remember correctly) and boost her attack and defense which is very very strong in this game, especially since you can essentially spend one turn victory dancing and the next to drain Punch or something. Now don't get me wrong, I didn't sweep Volo's entire team with Liligant, but I only had 3 pokemon left before the surprise Giratina fight. So of course, Giratina took down my low and slow Samerot and the frail Weavile because I thought she could take out Giratina with a Critless Night Slash. Then the Origin Forme, I just agile style victory danced, regular aerial aced, tanked a hit, hit another normal aerial ace cause agile style will not let me get another turn, tanked another hit and I'm in the deep yellow of one hit and it's over. I actually considered a bit to actually use battle items for once in the game, but I rightfully thought it through and strong styled aerial ace to finish it off. Honestly, I was very worried that I would lose that fight, but hey it was a nice fight to have since the last fight that gave me a run for my money was that old ninja guy before the post game. (Because psychic types with fighting and fairy moves for my dark types hurts) But all in all, ggwp Volo, now never do that again.
i only lost to him once, and thats cuz i didnt expect giratina. once i knew to save my ghost and dark types i beat him fairly easily, even though i accidentally lead with liligant
Pretty much this. High 60s to mid 70s team. Typhlosion does wonders and actually goes toe to toe with Giratina pretty well. Origin forme took me out the first time because it was unexpected.
I dont get why people depend on Cresselia so much for this battle I didn't even use her. The team I was using was an alolan ninetails an alpha zorroark, blissey sylveon, Garchomp And crobat
@@Ajay-tu3hkimagine it still had gyms. The perfect game
I wish he could he mine, but from the first time I saw him I was like "This guy definitely a giratina worshipper". So when the time came, I was not surprised at all.
I was spoiled by a RUclips comment
it said...
(MAJOR SPOILERS!!!!)
Volo caused the space-time rift to appear so he could use Arceus to create a brand new world or some s**t like that!
I thought that he was evil but jeez cheating with 8 mons
During the story I was like “Volo is DEFINITELY a bad guy, gonna be one of the final battles in the game I bet”, but then the credits came during the mainline story and then I said “oh, I guess I judged him too much. he must be good then.” and then this happened.
💀
Met too! It's sus.
Lol he seemed very sus from the beginning until the end and then there was a mini spoiler and I’m like oh it’s battle time and bam volo showed he was crazy and evil lol
LOL
I thought Volo looked sus
Samurott was by far my best friend through and through. The fact I finished the fight with ceaseless edge with him was the best thing ever
togekiss for me
Sneasler for me, but I'm also attached to my Samurott. Well, my whole main team to be honest :)
togekiss got me all the way to roserade, then porygon-z and goodra cleared the rest of his party. typhlosion (infernal parade) handled giratina. i felt like a proud parent before i remembered i was playing a video game
I beat him yesterday and the same thing happened to me! I finished off Giratina with ceaseless edge.
i have to say i caught a level 30 luxray called spark and he stayed with me till level 100
I’m gonna be honest, I always had a weird gut feeling about Volo, but I would push it aside. And then once the boss fight came I was like “I FREAKING KNEW IT!”
I hoped he was a good guy for the whole game but the moment he said “Those Ginko Guild guys” I knew he was evil
Saaaaaame. I had a suspicion that he wasn't good, but I dearly wanted him to be.
I just really didn't like him at all and then boom
@@mjdxp5688 Saaaame! He would give me weird vibes.
During the whole game I somehow just convinced myself that he WAS arceus
The volo fight was a complete shock to me when it happened because y'know I thought this man was nice and he just straight up tries to rob us and then proceeds to send a legendary on us 😃
And that legendary was the one who attacked arceus and he restored. I want Volo arrested now
I thought he was Sus as fuck the entire game. I was shocked when we finished the main story and he didn't do anything but....then this.
I was suspicious due to him appearing at EVERY SINGLE PLOT INVOLING ANYTHING STORY WISE.

The Origin Giratina got me with the pants down. At my second attempt, Basculegion with Ominous Wind and Ice Fang did the magic with the two giratinas
It was a hell of a battle.
😅 I actually saw this twist coming
i thought he was evil immediately lol, HUGE villain vibes
He is the one nice guy who can literally manipulate anyone1
nah dude gave off mega villain vibes just hiding behind cynthia face but any true trainer who suffered the original beat down cynthia gave you as a kid knows to never trully trust her
The Captain Kamado thing I saw coming. But no matter your experience with Volo there is no denying that was a top tier battle
I popped off so hard
And then immediately got clapped by Giratina.
Then came Giratina.
wow, talk about the b team
@@natalieisagirlnow If my team was a B team, I don't want to use an A team.

Yeah lol, I was angry about this because I was so confused why my Gengar was being sent to be oneshot when I didnt select it.

i had no idea this fight was going to be this hard. i had a team of Samurott, Alpha Zoroark, Alpha Gallade, Alpha Lucario, Cresselia, and Dialga. max revives we’re very helpful, and my Samurott took the hits when i needed to heal. it was such a tight fight, i was fighting for that win 🤣 i absolutely love Volo, he’s definitely my new favorite pokémon character!
Wait what level was your team?
I used legendaries just for that fight.

Another Pokémon that’s a very very good contender, and that I used, is the alpha blissey, but at level 70-80.

There's an alpha garchomp in alabaster icelands, it starts at level 85, and it's decently good for starting at level 85
You still need to grind until Star 7 so its not recommended unless your struggling a lot.
Thank you
in alabaster, theres also 2 guaranteed blissey, and some chancy in their 60's, A lot of xp
Feed it the xp booster berry for extra xp.
In that way you can also get some seeds of mastery
Just wanna say there’s a slightly better grinding method, there’s an alpha blissey at the cliff of “Overburrow Tunnel” kill it over and over to gain a lot of EXP in a pretty short time
that what I did lol
@@teamyowielocked where is the tunnel
btw my method for beating him was a bit weird but basicall palkia hisuan tyhplosion garchomp that one level 70 gardevoir hisuan electrode and crobat with a level 70 palkia and a level 70 gardevior make sure the palkia doesnt die in the volo fight nor the electrode then switch to the electrode to max revive the garevior i reccomend having 6 max revives just in case which you should be able to get after doing most of the shop sidequests with this strategy you dont need legendaries and only typhlosion gardevior and palkia need to be above level 65
fun tip i noticed that may help switching in mons has no consequence if the mon you switch in has higher speed than the mon your fighting

In Alabaster Icelands, Blissey are a guaranteed Spawn. As long as you have a physical attacker, and hit them from the back, you can kill the Blissey without any issues
after the blissey are both killed, rest at a campsite until another time of day, and repeat.

@@Kaijufan360 ...WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT-
First hint I noticed towards him being a twist villain was when he is talking about info he got about the lake guardians and he said “I was talking to those Ginko Guild members” and Cogita notices it and says “you say it like you’re not one of them”
Personally, I was admittedly very much overleveled for this fight due to my tendency to sidetrack to extreme levels.
My team was Samurott, Arcanine, Lucario, Gardevoir, Zoroark and Mamoswine
And omg Zoroark was definitely the MVP in this fight xD
I didn't do a living dex, but I did get sidetracked by every side quest before this fight, I also regularly caught Alphas and boosted their stats with grit items, so I had no trouble with Volo
Same for me guys I was sidetracked by the actual point of the game lol i didn't want to catch/use legendary pokemon till after I fought arceus , anyway I managed to beat him with my team at the mid 70s.
In the alabaser icelands around the bottom left corner of the map, there’s an alpha garchomp that’s level 85
I was able to 2 shot origin form giritina because of it
Just came here to say that, it’s near avalanche slopes
Also, you have to have 7 stars for it to fully obey you.
I swear garchomp is so common in the icelands for some reason like it’s 4 x weak and it’s a dragon that will literally die if ice touches it

HOLY CRAP THANK YOU DUDE

I've been trying for 5 days and you really helped me a lot, finally I succeeded, now the last mission is the road to arceus
I really like it how the 3 hardest battles in the franchise all are in the the 4 latest games (Ultra Necrozma in US/UM, Cynthia in BDSP and now Volo in Legends: Arceus).
They're definitely moving in the right direction when it comes to difficulty
I really hope they have future champions continue to have good team balance and battle items.
You mean wrong ❌ direction
Right? I don’t want more unfair stuff like this?
The Pokémon I used were as followed:
Gardevior: An alpha of which I found as a Ralts early on in the game, had a electric, psychic, fairy, and fighting type move.
Pokémon I didn’t use but were on my party:
Typhlosion: Knew Overheat. Highest leveled on my team. Just never felt the need to send him out for some reason.
Roserade: Knew a poison type move. That’s about it.
Same, I did this fight with a full Alpha team.
Gardivoir, Gallade, Garchomp, Gliscor, Porygon-Z and Snorlax.
I almost got him first try. It was the 2nd form that got me. I only had 1 pokémon left and I couldn’t heal any of my pokémon.
I don’t want any more of this it was very unfun. I didn’t stat train any of my Pokémon though. Didn’t think I’d need to in a casual play through
You have no idea how many times I’ve cursed seeing that there was a harder boss fight THREE TIMES IN A ROW! This has made me believe that if there is a Satan-like figure running around Earth, he is the one who came up with this scene.
Some really good Pokemon you can find for this fight are :
1) Alpha empoleon (lvl65, needs some levelling, spawn on the coastlands)
2) Alpha goodra (Lvl 70, coronet highlands)
3) Alpha Lucario (Lvl 70, alabaster icelands)
Steel types are amazing in this game, goodra and empoleon are tanks and also hit pretty hard, empoleon has access to roost as well.
Lucario hits so damn hard, mine took out almost 4 of volos Pokemon before he went down. Good luck!
What was your full team if I may ask?
Don't forget the alpha Garchomp at alabaster as well

@@georgedooley8247 I caught it using stealth using the potion that masks your presence and using smoke bombs to hide into. Then finally distracted him with a berry for the giga ball throw on its back. Took me about 5 tries to get him but it's worth it. Having a jolly alpha Garchomp sure is amazing.
Alpha Garchomp, Lvl 85!
For me, I utilized bulk up and self healing to literally tank all of his hits from Giratina.
My main Pokemon was an alpha Heracross who was practically immune to moves like earth power
Ironically, I was able to get Volo during my first attempt.
Calm mind
Psychic(same type attack damage)
Moonblast(dragons & to counter dark types)
Lunar Dance(heals & opponent misses)
On pokemon that you know cant one hit KO, calm mind(meaning you take no damage & destroy), lunar dance heal(opponent misses, back to full hp), wipe opponent. You can take down the entirety of Volo & Giratina without needing another pokemon.
On what logic alpha heracross immune to ground type moves?
I also got through volo on my first try. My team was fairly average. Being hisuian goodra, samurot, sylveon, toxicroak, kleavor, and a gliscor. Personally didnt have much of an issue with volo, had to use a few revives on giritina since i was messing around on volo and wasnt ready for giritina
@@ED-fu5lz he meant that it was bulky enough to tank the resisted hits
Dude you were terribly underleveled for this fight, you did a great job!
When you think cynthia and red is tough THEN YOUR IN FOR A BAD TIME
My experience
First try: Lost to Volo.
Same!
Exactly what happened to me
Thank you so much man, thanks to you I beat Volo first try. This video is really helpful. Keep up the good work!
The reason this fight was so difficult for me was because I had absolutely no strategy going into the fight. Team I used was Typhlosion, Garchomp, Luxray, Origin Palkia, Origin Dialga, and Gengar. Got insanely lucky at the end of the fight when hypnosis hit giratina, immediately prevented him from attacking (which would have ended the fight) and I was able to hit him with Hex
my team was dialga, onix, sylveon, vaporeon, lucario and rapidash, i keep getting stuck in giratina but i'll find a way to kick his ass >:(
me too! i had Samurott, Alpha Zoroark, Alpha Gallade, Alpha Lucario, Cresselia, and Dialga and hoped for the best! 🤣 Zoroark was insanely helpful bc of the dark type moves, Samurott wasn’t as damaged by Giratina, and Dialga was effective and had a super effective move i finished it off with!
I just got to this point and was so taken back by the difficulty spike lol thank you for this!
Dude I beat him first try when I tried your team thank you so much and take this title as you have achieved champion rizz 🗿
I feel like this wouldn't be nearly as bad if we didn't have the new Speed stat mechanic and the Agile/Strong Styles
I agree. With the old speed mechanic, volo would get sweeped
It was so satisfying after beating him and a fun new way to make a tough boss
@@A_Ali173 I've just beat him there after getting my team to 70 and it was so satisfying😂 had to use the stat boost items though
I defeated him first try without watching any videos, not realising it was him being the end game boss, but destroyed him, having only my snorelax faint 😅
Didn't realize he was powerful, managed to melt giratina too haha
No
this is imposibble
Probably overleveled i guess
Glad to see my mascot being used in a tough boss fight
I doubt mine will be in any tough boss fights lol
@@Summer_turtle_ aww. The evolved form was a gmax raid boss
Thank you, you helped me a lot. I was struggling to beat Volo. But thanks to you I beat him❤
I'm not sure if it's because I've played Pokemon for years, but I didn't find him as difficult as most of the comments I'm seeing would suggest. Definitely the most challenging fight in the game for sure, but Cynthia in the D/P remakes is definitely MUCH more difficult imo
I agree I didn’t have to use legendarys or anything
I had goodra,sylveon,gliscor, honchkrow, Walrein
And zoroark and beat him with losing like 2 Pokémon I think 😂 my highest Pokémon was gliscor level 73 and lowest was 61 sylveon
Mine were around level 80, and I did relatively fine. Had to max revive a few but tanks like rhydon give that room
I think I had some luck with an alpha nine tails you can find on volcano Island
Same although I was in the mid 70s by the time I reached him
Same, I did it first try, I didn't even have to use one of my pokemon (the one I had to find absolutely ages to find because I didn't pick it as my starter).

I need to thank you so much! It went from the hardest fight i‘ve ever had in pkmn to a pretty easy one!
To be honest I went with my own strategy and it still worked without wasting any revives but this one is actually pretty good now I know that training in the village is a thing lol
Volo doesn't follow a set mon rotation he has the best ai in pokemon and always sends out something that has a super effective on what you have out.
Bro, you’re the best. Thank you🙏, you made me win the battle that i thought i’d never win.
Loved it.’
This battle made me want to tear out my hair sense he could combo my entire team thank you for the amazing video
This battle was pretty fun I felt pretty proud of my darkrai for being able to one shot giratinas final form
you hit the nail right on the head with every statement you made. i had the same thought process as you the entire way through the game, volo is the hardest trainer ever.
Everyone is talking about how hard Volo is but
No one is talking about his *Josuke level ass haircut*
Yess, Goodra's shelter was very good against giratina. I only have to max revive it once
I was really afraid of this battle for some reason, so I decided to grind to low level 80's and it still was close, my Sylveon was the only one left, and it definitely was the MVP. He ended up tanking all of Giratina's attacks and killed it. Man it was stressful.
This helped a lot thanks
I got by him thanks to gyarados and crunch. Definitely the toughest fight in a mainline game ever.
The best strategy honestly is to have at least 1 tank in your team, which u can take out and use revives on the others.
Unlike the normal pokemon games where speed is the meta, in this game u want a tanky team because of how the battles work.
Ain’t that the truth. Empoleon saved my butt against Giratina due to its defences.
I love the little Pikachu with a Juicebox
Accidentally leveled up my two mains crobat and decidueye to level 90 since I was having fun filling out the pokedex, and got lucky with giratina missing shadow force in its origin form so the battle probably went a bit easier than intended. But I still thought it was super fun!! In-game Trainers with actually good teams are always cool to analyse
3:48 Mine was the following:
-Palkia
-Decidueye
-Ninetails
-Dialga
-Golem (Shiny)
-Gyarados
They ranged in levels from low 60s to low 70s
and yes, I still needed to revive spam even after a lot of grinding!
I had:
Decidyueye (63)
Umbreon (63)
Gengar (59)
Arcanine (58)
Gardevior (59)
Luxray (63)
I managed to beat it first try by absuing the fact that my umbreon is a WALL to rez my entire party after phase 1

Volo didn't stand a chance with my full lv. 100 team. Strange
Same
Took so many tries for me to beat Volo since I wanted to do it without grinding.
@@djdievjfkfjwhks true, but I honestly love it. It makes the game challenging
Once you get to the level where every level Pokémon will obey you it get’s way easier because you can have level 100 Pokémon
Togekiss is so good in this game definitely a welcome to the team - mystical fire, calm mind with draining kiss are crucial for tanking

This tutorial just saved me so hard. Only took one attempt after this video. Such a good tactic
Tbh I kinda wish Volo was our friend but no, he gets freaking Satan to come and kill us-
This game was Amazing and this fight WAS SO HARD, I FINALLY FIND SOME CHALLENGE IN THIS GAME
Man I wish I saw this a couple hours ago I still beat him thank fully with my original team all I will say is that max revives was a gift from god
Empoleon is SO good in this fight, I can’t believe there’s no mention of it in hardly any strategy guides
when i tell you i was not prepared for this fight! i went out and caught 4 alpha pokémon just for this fight! I ended up using Dialga, Cresselia, Alpha Mamoswine, Alpha Yanmega, Alpha Electivire and Alpha Gliscor! i tried my best to keep dialga unused ready for giratina and when i finally beat him i screamed
Bro thank you so much for the help on beating Volo I died so many times till I watched this vid
Honestly, I wasn't expecting this much when I got to the bossfight.
Before the few missions that are before the post game, I was very over leveled in almost every fight that are not the early game trainer fights since I was just exploring the world and catching more pokemon than I usually would in a game.
Now when I got to this fight, I was using-
Samerot: Swords Dance/Aqua Jet/Ceaseless Edge/Poison Jab
A Maxed Out Effort Level Liligant: Victory Dance/Drain Punch/Leaf Storm (I recently realized that move is not as good on Hisuian Liligant, but whatever)/Aerial Ace
Sneasler: Bulk Up/Drain Punch/Poison Jab/Shadow Claw
Luxray: Wild Charge/Ice Fang/Crunch/Quick Attack
Weavile: Ice Punch/Night Slash/Rock Smash (I'm stubborn for coverage like that, but the defense drops helps like that)/Swords Dance
Leafeon: Leaf Blade/Swords Dance/X-Scissor/Iron Tail(It's coverage is pretty trash)
Yeah, kinda a casual/competitively built team of favorites.
(Because psychic types with fighting and fairy moves for my dark types hurts)
But all in all, ggwp Volo, now never do that again.
So Volo actually stands up to be Cynthia's ancestor huh?
@@fightingspirit7960 yup, seems like it
i only lost to him once, and thats cuz i didnt expect giratina. once i knew to save my ghost and dark types i beat him fairly easily, even though i accidentally lead with liligant
You know it’s hard when there’s a guide to literally beat it
