    This is a somewhat difficult hat, but I was able to make it by using both the written pattern & tutorial. I changed the brim by ending on a DC row, fpdc all around, then alternating fpdc & bpdc for about 4 rows. I like the looks of it better than the one in the pattern. I made my own pom.

    Amazing hat, and the way you worked the brim is genius. I’ve tried so many times to work from bottom up with this type of brim & ive never been able to make it look right. I will be using this tip a lot. ♥️👍

      OMG SAME HERE!!!! This is extremely upsetting Carolyn! I new something wasn't right when I got as far as row 12 and it still wasn't looking like it would fit. The only sharing I will be doing will be of the disappointment. Do better!

    • @amayamaki
      @amayamaki 4 года назад +4

      -_- I guess reading comments would be helpful... I feel like I'm wearing a tight yamaka >_> Yay! Gotta start all over... No way would the first hat pattern fit a 20-22 inch head... I dunno... Maybe a 6 mm hook with the first set cause I used a 5.5 mm hook and its a tight fit on my head.

    • @LL-gn7zc
      @LL-gn7zc 4 года назад

      Amaya Maki I undid mine and started over with a 5.5mm hook.. not much of a difference really. Attempt #3 using a 6.5mm is working out so much better! Of course I am blessed with lushfully thick hair and prefer a loose beanie for a more comfortable wear. I'd have to plan it out first, but I think if the stitch count was increased (adding 4 dc in row 1 maybe so that you have a total of 20 dc to start with) from the get go, you could use a 5.5mm so that it would produce a wider beanie but with small sized stitch. I may try that on the next one that I make in a different color.

    The adult large version has a discrepancy between the tutorial on round 5 and the written pattern. The tutorial says that you end by skipping the last stitch and joining. The written pattern says you finish the round with 2 stitches remaining and SC in those before joining. The written is correct! I frogged 3x before I figured this out. Ugh.

    I was having a complete attack over the way the lg. size hat was rippling , then all of a sudden the whole idea snapped into focus . I've got a few changes i plan on making , but i love the basic idea . I want to try doing the hat in hd camel stitch and anchoring the 'pattern' in dc stitch into the loop of the previous row when the pattern is first established , then switch to a fp,dc to build it . Am i making sense ? I'm thinking the final effect should be a really cool basket weave .

  • @audraenglebright2535

    I also had to rip out several hours worth of work and time and start completely over due to the strange set up of this video! The hat she starts with is "small adult" and then she does the normal loose adult size afterwards!!! skip to about 30 minutes in to the video! other than that, i love the pattern!

    I am making this hat in adult large. I am using Car on Simply Soft and size H hook. (The I doesnt work well with this yarn, I tried)I also tend to have a tighter crochet style. All of this means that my gauge is smaller than the pattern. What would be the best way to increase the size of the beanie?
