    The 4 seaters were relatively rare. I remember back in high school someone took on on the great circle loop. Had gas cans for an extra 12 gallons, had a tent, food, water, and clothes. Pretty cool story

    Hey, I purchased one of these skis on Labor day 2019 from a local boat dealer who has an end of season sale every year. Mine had the same problem as yours. The rear cylinder detonated and looked similar to yours. The cause was fouled carbs from ethanol fuel and no fuel stabilizer. My suggestion to you is to remove the whole block to clean out he crank case of any metal pieces that might be in there. I removed mine and inverted then flushed out the rear crank case. I purchased my parts from SBT in Florida, they are great and their web site has some great info on rebuilding these motors. Got mine back in water in under a month, and all in with ski and trailer then all parts for under $1500. I would buy the carb rebuild kits and needle and seats. Good Luck

    Just found a 1999 SUV in mint condition. 30 original hours. Only problem is one cylinder has no compression. How hard are these SUVs to work on? A friend has a 1999 xlt1200 and it is a nightmare. Carbs are way down in the bottom. Exhaust has to be removed just to access the carbs. From your video, it looks like the SUV has a lot more room.
    I am used to the old 650-760 2 cylinders. Easy to work on those.

    I just got a 98 yamaha 1200cc for free and it was bad and I restored it because it only had 56 hours and I used raptor bedliner to repaint it to look nice and it looks brand new and its UV resistant so its awsome and easy to do. It was my first Time painting anything with a spray gun you should look into it I recommend it to anyone that never painted or just wants go do a easy and fast paint job. And its cheap.

    • @LifeofAedan
      @LifeofAedan  4 года назад

      That's awesome! Great way to reuse parts. I might consider the painting on the green parts, not a big fan of green jet ski. What paint did you use? I'm thinking cerekote.

    • @Young937phoenix
      @Young937phoenix 4 года назад

      @@LifeofAedan it's called raptor liner it's basically bed liner for the bed of trucks. You can also buy this stuff you mix im n with it almost like sand so it gives it grip that's what I'm spraying down where your feet go instead of buying the the mats to put down in my opinion this stuff will be better and more UV resistant..

    Leaking reed pedals won't effect the compression. The compression happens above the piston before the exhaust port is exposed. The reeds are just part of the intake tract which happens below the piston.

  • @henrygarcia4438

    Hey bud nice video. I don't think it was dirty carbs that grenaded your cylinder. I noticed that you still have the oil injection (as opposed to running pre mix). What you may want to check is that A. your oil pump is indeed working, and B. that the little oil check valves (you have 3) one on each oil line to the intake, are not restricted since they tend to clog up and then boom - no oil in the cylinder. The pumps rarely fail, but the check valves tend to clog up after many years. you can find them for 20 bucks or so - use oem only on those. Good luck.

    • @LifeofAedan
      @LifeofAedan  4 года назад +2

      Thanks so much! You pretty much sum it all up. Oil lines were f'ed and I have already switched to premix in an upcoming video. Aside from oil lines id also like to believe my crank seals were the culprit, one completely blown out and other leaking on ID.

      @LifeofAedan  4 года назад

      @@alanwander7277 thanks for the subscribe!! For me, it was a dead giveaway, they were popped out on the upper side, my guess is a backfire caused it to happen. A common test is to start the engine and spray carb cleaner or starting fluid on them, if the engine changes rpm in idle they are typically leaking.

    Aedan great work... Constructive suggestion for your production... Turn down the volume on the interlude music. I know you want the dramatic energy pump, but I had to turn down the volume during the blaring portions, and then when you begin talking the volume is too low. You can use the effect some times, just be mindful it cuts out the important parts where you are giving information. The music as you use it is filler and shouldn't be distracting. Goonzquad used to the same thing. Look at their early pieces and look at their current cuts.

    • @LifeofAedan
      @LifeofAedan  4 года назад

      Are you deaf 😂 we measured compression on a working cylinder to get a control variable which we will compare to the misfiring cylinder. That way we can get a better guess on what went wrong. 🤦 I wouldn't go around calling people dummy lol. Please don't go around telling people who have spent a majority of their life in this field what to do.
