Damn! I need a Metanium MGL! Yes, the DC sound is super cool, but if too loud, may be annoying. And the MGL looks much better. I have a Excense DC but the DC brake is not working anymore. Maybe I was too coarse on it. I don`t know. It was super easy and fun to cast. But, the numbers on the mgl convinced me .
Is this MGL the japan or american version? Ive heard the japan one has half of the line capacity which makes it a lot better for light weight lures and casts better. Like the american one is size 150 and the Japanese is 70.
What setting did you have the DC reel on? Fluro, Braid? Was the breaking on auto or did you have it turned to one of the numbers? DC reel is more complicated set up. so wondering if you had it set correctly.
Came upon this video when i saw that shimano has cut back on the DC reels quite a bit. I love my calcutta DC, but definitely curious about the infinity reels now that i have seen this...
so many things that could make the difference; Throwing force, the axle brake (the small knob) setting, are they both "just out of the package" or are they used? Are they being cast this distance before or is this the first time for both?
DC reel is the only reel where i can almost de spool my fishing line. Cast soo far I am scare of catching trees. I think the hardest part about DC is tuning it. It just require a different tuning to evenly set it right. Most DC beginner will tune it like a centrifugal or magnetic system which will not make the DC shine.
Killin the dope edit game! I wish Lew's made some digital controlled reels! I'd be all over them!!! But in this case i'd have to go with the DC reel cause of its boost sounds
I really liked this video. The only suggestion I would make is compare with a 1/2 and or 3/4 oz lure. As far as I know DC reels do not excel with lighter weights. Does the DC feel as smooth while reeling as the MGL? I'd also bet a Chronarch MGL casts a bit further than either Met. At least mine does. Subscribed.
I don't like DC reels. I like between 0 & 1 brake & between 1-2 on the thumb wheel on a good metanium mgl. My antares spools out with 65lb braid like a .223! Wish I could get them a bit cheaper..

i say if your fishing from shore the metanium mgl all the way, and leave the dc for people using a boat, they don't need to cast as far and if their out in the middle i don't have to hear the noise.
nice vid, everything you said is on point. I've got both. I think the DC is better wit 1/2oz and more. I use mine for traps & it'll really make that reel hummmm! mgl is a great worm/jig reel
It's comparing apple to orange. DC main purpose is to prevent backlashed without the need to thumb at all. Good for noobs and such risk of backlash and ruining fishing time.
In case anyone was wondering please don’t use this video as a reference! That is a used dc that could have been used for 2-3 years being put up against a metanium mgl that problem isn’t even a year old. When you say smoother that the most BS thing saying because they have the exact same gears and if you had the amount of time in the mgl as did the dc it would feel the same. Word of advice is compare reels that were one is brand new and the other one is used. Winner should be dc btw it does cast farther I don’t what you were thinking. The older the reel the less it preforms since if it’s meant for high performance.

I think in order to do a compare both reels must be on same rod and same setting with same lure weight and line ...this will be the most fair
The metanium dc is not the long cast dc reel. I believe the long cast is the dc5 found on the Antares dc and scorpion dc

I seen a video where the average was 160 feet and the longest was 192 feet on the dc. Although I think he used a 1/2 ounce lure.
