They made me squee when the last section of Raid 3 of Return to Ivalice in FF14 took place in le Monde and had this final boss music for Thunder God Cid. Not to mention ALL the mobs in the final raid are from vagrant story. Glad Square remembered this game existed.
One of those masterworks that went unobserved because published in the golden age of gaming. Not a single Squaresoft production of the 2000s reached this level of quality, this was their swan song.
i miss this Game so much. my childhood was this one, soul reaver, grim fandango, resident Evil 3, and chaos legión. i really would love some remakes for any of them (i know grim has a remaster)

man I loved this game it pissed me off there has been no sequels or any mention of this game.there hasn't even been any clones I'd love to play an updated version same story and game play but with today's engines
That sequency from 7:14 to 9:51 is the most important part of the entire game. Did he kill an inoccent family or not? Did Sidney lie to him? And Sidney can lie, as Hardin knows very well. Is it the darkness probing him for the recipient of it's powers or teasing him one more final time? Is it a gift from the darkness to him to see his true family one more time or to see an imaginary family and to say goodbye to that imagination? This is debated to this day on game faqs, and there's no final answer. The devs did this on purpose so you can come to your own conclusions. However in my opinion he did lost his family and wasn't a murder because of one line "Get thee gone darkness!!". And only them, his prize for defeating the dark temptation. To see his real family.

i feel very relieve when its realy his son and wife. and this is just like my first playtrough, 0 damage with low acc. barely win with 100 risk and got counter heal from the special attack lol. what a memory, playing blind without no guide are the best.
Dropped by because I was told this game is like Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage on the N64 by THQ / H20 back in 2001 I think more than anything its similar combat system ish but I am getting some real souls like vibes going on. Regardless, i'm loving it and appreciate the upload :)

One of the best game i have ever played, This game is has an endgame. The new game + once your character acquire the Bloodsin in his back. Weapons like Rhompaia dan Holy win that are very rare and you must farm them in a certain hidden place. That place also needs to be unlock if you beat the game once. I only manage to get 1 Rhompaia dan 1 Holy Win. Killing Guildernstern is a breeze.

It's funny how he does all that showy crap before using Bloody-Sin and yet the attack is far less threatening than attacks from normal enemies like the Undercity Liches who can one shot you with some of their spells.

Not bc of the language but more bc of the understanding of everything. Most important thing for me: what is finally the truth about the Wife and the kid Marco? Did Ashley kill them or did someone else do it? I didn't understand what was true and what was false bc I thought that Sydney showed him the harsh reality. But it could also be an illusion so yeah.. I couldn't read that good between the lines in this game, it's a bit harder if english isn't your native language.. :)
Ashley and Jan Rosencrantz were spotted by civilians during a mission. Since Riskbreakers are sworn to work undercover, Ashley was forced to kill the family. However his guilt got the better of him, and he was second-guessing his actions and growing doubtful. Jan and the VKP brainwashed Ashley into thinking that it was his family that was killed, going so far as to make him believe that the slaughter of "his" family was the reason he joined the VKP. That's the jist of it. i was the very same lol! I was 11 and loved the game but never understood the weapons crafting etc. So got really good with 100 plus combos etc. all 1s and return hits. finished it and loved it. Played it again a few years back and was able to fully understand it and breezed through it for the most part and still loved it. great atmosphere and music. great game
Back then game writing is primarily to sway gamers to enjoy and become the protagonist of the game itself without needs to look at society problems. Nowadays, games has to include a problem that must be "woke" so people can either criticize it or plainly trampled over it so the game that have been painstakingly made be destroyed.
Shitty writing is just shitty writing. Not everything needs to be for or against the mysteriously frequent cited concept of wokery. It's just shitty writing by poorly lead companies trying to appeal to everyone instead of telling a good story. Doesn't really matter what "agenda" is on the table - if your story sucks, the problem is you/your company/your business model.
Good in explored the maps but not so good in chain attack. In actual fact some of your attacks can still hit boss despite your risk reached 100. I killed boss only 1 round at its final form. Non stop chain attack.
I just spent literally 1h30 on this boss. Not hard at all but when you don't have the correct weapon it's a CHORE. At the end I had to wait for the boss to recover mana, stupid boss design. It's really annoying because I totally destroyed the previous boss. I did it the same way as the video but my timing is most of the time awful. I thought there were a better way.
Even the strongest of shields cannot defend the weakest of wills. A moment's hesitation beckons a lifetime of pain!

I love him grim this game can be. Like how Guildenstern literally just cut Sydney's back off and plastered the skin on his own to get his powers.
This game is brutal end wonderful at the same time. One of the few games that brought me to tears

The last boss is not hard. All you need to do is to gather around 8 weapons and use Phantom Pain in a chain. You can end him within minutes.

Same, it literally took me 90 minutes the first time without any Evil-type weapons. Still, it made the ending that much more meaningful.
