yeah, thank you, so well explained and practical ! I used to struggle with this sound (even if I hardly admitted it). But now and thanks to you Emma, I see what's going on ! 😁
Madam, just as you have made videos on all the vowel sounds,in the same way, would you please make video on all the consonant sounds showing their correct mouth and tounge position.Your videos are really very effective and impressive, thanks!
Hi Emma !! Thanks for the video, is so useful! ❤ I love your channel! On the other hand, this is the vowel sound most difficult for me, but in my university, they teach it like a short "i", so it's a little confusing. Sometimes I hear it as an "i" and other times as an "e", I hate this sound jajaja
I hear Brazilian Portuguese speakers mispronouncing /ɪ/ as /i/ much more frequently than as /iː/. Short and long sounds are not really distinct in Portuguese, so many of us are kind of deaf to this difference. Are those phonemes clearly distinguishable for native English speakers? Some times I can swear you say /i/!
The sounds /ɪ/, /iː/ and /i/ all sound really different to a native English speaker. For example, if you say “coffee” with the long /iː/ instead of /i/, it would sound odd. Same as if you used /ɪ/, people would think you were more from the north of England. Words like “ship” and “sheep” are also very important to get right and distinguish because there’s a massive difference between the vowels for native English speakers :)

That's because people don't teach in properly and lazily say "short and long i" 😅

Please tell me where we should use i sound.
You taught I and i:sounds.(short and long sound)
Thanks in advance.
/i/ comes at the end of words in an unstressed syllable (in words that have more than one syllable). Hope that helps!
