Love your honest blunt review. My 1st time in PV (annual boys trip) I stayed here and wasn’t disappointed. Loved the snack bar by the pool, the night club was blah but the shows prior was amazing. I preferred the buffet at the sister property. I see it’s still the Hunger Games for a Cabana or chair 😂! Now I didn’t know about the pool on the 7th floor. Will check it out in October. Overall it’s a good adult only resort 💯

Great video! We stayed here during the pandemic. This review is spot on. It was showing it's age a few years ago and that included our elevator not working. I will say the staff makes up for a lot of that. As a bonus, we were there for the holiday in September and they threw an amazing party. Another bonus to this resort is that the cruise/tour terminal is within walking distance. That came in handy for my snorkeling trip. Would we stay here again? No. There are much better resorts for just a little more cash.
Yes, the staff there is great! We had great service the whole time. We did notice some tiles missing from the hot tub and a few cabanas that needed new covers, but nothing too bad or that effected the functionality of anything.

@@aviandv We are now going with Secrets whenever possible. We usually do the preferred club upgrade that gets you a few extra perks and some other bars/pool areas that aren't usually as crowded.

Great Honest review Guys! Appreciate the pros and cons. I’m debating between this one and La Hacienda at the Krystal Grand as they are in our price point and adults only. Also like that they are a quick Uber to PV - any insights into La Hacienda at the Krystal grand? Ideally looking for a real 4 star. Nice rooms, good AI food, clean and maintained.

Wow beautiful ocean view...room sort of plain....but probably won't stay in there much.
Yes, it was rather plain. It still ticked all the main boxes for us, though. It was clean, the bed was comfortable andhad extra pillows, the ac worked well, the water pressure was good and there was plenty of hot water.
The majority of the time we spent in there we were either asleep or hanging out on the balcony!
of course I would stay there?? Why wouldn't I ??
We don't stay at AI's very often, but we would definitely come back to this place!

4 star?, well maybe at one time, we have stayed here 10 times over the years, have made some very good friends there that have treated us very good like family and I guess that's what kept us coming back, Polly who took your order in the Paradise restaurant is our very special friend who we seek out when we first arrive, our last stay was in December of 2023 and things have drastically changed since our stay in April of 2023, I had heard that part of it was a ownership change, really don't know, but a lot of things that used to be weren't this time, not one of the hot tubs were heated, we had no hot water most of the seven days we were there, they used to have umbrellas on the beach for every four chairs, it was yellow jacket bee season and the uncovered food outside at the buffet was just covered in bees, the roof top pool was filthy, you could see the particles floating around in it amongst a few other little things. I take things lightly and don't complain much because some things are beyond control some days but from what I have been used to over the years staying here this was unacceptable. My wife and I agreed that we need to take a break from this place so we did some scoping out for some smaller non AI resorts walking distance to town since we are taking a taxi so often into town. Maybe one day we will try the Golden again and see if there is any improvement, I will miss my friends there especially Polly but will make new ones at the next
Polly (Hipolyte) was a gentleman and super nice, as was all of the staff. That sucks that the place that you really enjoyed went down the tubes, but it seemed like they were trying to give good service while we were there, no flies or bees on the food. Hot water all the time, and they were painting/ working on part of a building, too. We enjoy staying downtown more often, but we wanted to try an AI this time. Thanks for commenting!
"Polly" wasn't the friend you thought. This is the hospitality industry and making suckers like you feel like they are your "friend" is all part of the act.
I'm sure the tips were appreciated but rest assured "Polly" forgot you the minute you walked out the door!

Been to Puerto Vallarta dozens of times. Would never stay in a resort. I always rent a condo in the romantic zone
That is definitely our favorite way to go. We like to change it up sometimes but, every time we stay elsewhere, we find ourselves wishing we had stayed in the ZR!
We're partial to the Zenith building. Our back up place is v399. Do you have a favorite condo?
