You NEED to do the tale of jenny and screech full trilogy. Yes its long 13 some odd minutes, worth every second. Youll get your live acoustic genius. Oh yes indeedy. Please!!!❤❤❤
I agree, the live acoustic versions are usually more impactful. Shame you didn't watch the last 10 seconds. The bus turned into the depot, the camera or the cameraman fell over, and you hear the public messaging over the bus PA. Hilarious.
Now you need to listen to the video - it's insane, and so different. The primary influence on this is George Orwell's Animal Farm. And the video was filmed in one shot (just as Hi Ren was). Most of his videos are live and one shot. Not a lot of processing. No pitch correction.
The thing with Ren - and Chinchilla - is that they frequently have 2 or more excellent versions of things out. So - Chinchilla - check out a couple of Ren's collabs with her - Chalk Outlines and I Forgot how to be Me. I promise you, you will be stunned. I know you love beautiful voices, and they are heaven together.

The video is an art piece all on its own, as it a one shot video, planned out in advance and based on the book Animal Farm, the Shining and Clockwork orange, and even Eyes wide shut. He has used so many references and it is creepy and incredible.
On a moving bus! 🤯 Ren said there was nearly an "Angry Bus Driver" version of this (inside joke: see the Angry Car Park Attendant version of "Blind Eyed" with Sam Tompkins).
The writings on the wall, I see you reacting to the official music video as well. They both have their charms.
You are right that there is something raw and special about this live acoustic performance. But it shines even brighter when you know what it is he has managed to strip down to this. Pretty cool tho to see how much you loved it even without knowing the original. A testament to how good Ren is.
The music video puts the lyrics into context. I love this one too. It was recorded on a moving city bus! He can't stop doing music. Ren IS music.❤
The music video is a one-take live shot. It's the same as Hi Ren, The Tale of Jenny and Screech trilogy. Those need to be watched together as it's one story. I can't get enough.😊😊

The song is inspired by a book: Animal Farm. It is a critical story about the society. I believe that the song is cynical, not violent. His is playing a role that hi is criticizing, like in many of his songs and
videos ;)

As a matter of personal opinion I myself prefer the music video to this live version. Funny how you call him a kid all the time, he's your age. Just saying, you might think of yourself still a kid, well ya, of course you do, you are so funny and seem to act like a kid being all silly. Love that you do, stay young sweetie stay as young as you want to feel! I try to keep my youth also and act silly but I can't pull it off anymore at my age. I could be your grandmother. hahahha So when you get a chance do the music video also, at least for the visuals, it's awesome. Have you listened to Chinchilla yet? I understand referring to Ren as "kid" due to his appearance, but he is 33 🙂
Definitely check out the video, and maybe refamiliarize yourself with Animal Farm first. Ren says the song wasn't overtly influenced by that book, but the video definitely was (along with other influences).

It must be weird to see this one before watching the original version first 😆Without the visuals of the original video, the lyrics are front and center and they're that much more disturbing.
