Agree. He’s basically the evolution of styles that began with Hendrix, tgen SRV but molds them into his own style and takes it a giant step further imho, plus there’s a shredding element in his playing which the older players either couldn’t or did not do. Fame evades him simply because of timing. This type of music is no longer mainstream but still gets the attention of a more select audience. I’m sure Philip is very content with that. The masses are listening to “ pop”, most of it synthetic crap, but that is our current state of affairs. Another time, another place his music would have been vastly more recognized. But thank God for musicians like Philip to give us something more...

Angelo Talosig exactly! That would be a show of epic proportions. Have you heard of Artur Menezes? He's also one of my fav modern blues guitarists.

It helps when you create something original. Phil is just rehashing SRV stuff. It's one thing to quote your influences, but blatantly copying things verbatum just doesn't cut it. There are thousands of guys in clubs everywhere that can play the SRV bag of licks with the SRV approved tone. I mean, listen to the lyrics in that song. Embarrassingly bad. Phil is a dynamite guitar player, but he doesn't use his own original voice. He's doing Hendrix's voice with SRV guitar. That's great, but not gonna make you a star.
