Some people say the insides of the FI pump might shift (turn) if you remove the Delivery Valve Holder, and will ruin the pump if out of position when started ? I'm tempted to try this on my Kubota L275 where I have the same problem. Great video, thank you. 👍👍👍.

They're good engines, but they're feckitty on the fuel supply front. I have 3 with similar issues sitting staring at me. If I have 3 like that, it means loads have similar issues - the fuel cut-off solonoid valves also suck - they're soft & give bother. It'd be great if Yanmar would nip over to Kubota and ask for a few "How do we make our stuff better?" Tips.

Need to know how the injector pump works does it need to full ofuel to ensure that the plungers go all the way up originally #1 was fine 2 and 3 were stuck same as in your video they did move about 1/8 inch

Thanks so much for this! Same engine and problem i think for me on a 4whl drive tractor with loader. Having trouble getting the access plate off as is blocked by the loader arm.
I wonder if it could be done without taking the plate off by rotating crank to maybe 1/4 turn past #1 TDC so you know its not injecting anywhere and just tapping from the top??
And its the small center piston that gets tapped with the brass drift right??

What if you get them moving again but it doesn't seem to be making pressure?

    Got a 3TN in a gator 6x4
It appears to be getting fuel to all injectors
Has a pretty good knock, it’s like an oscillating and clacking knock. Any thoughts? (All push rods look ok and injectors seem to be working)

    • @StanwoodStudios

Are the connecting rods good? Is the timing on the injection pump correct?

  • @pingpong9656

What do you think caused them to get stuck in the first place? Sitting around without use?

Precisely. The machine was parked running and unused for three years or more. I have a couple videos reviving this machine on our channel!

Nearly the same pump on a Takeuchi TB125 Mini ex. Your video helped me diagnose a no start / no-fuel issue. Had no fuel at the injectors and had a plunger stuck up. Tapped it down (luckily didn't have to remove the top valve) and it cranked right up.

This is a Master Class compared to JD training. Thanks for posting. Any chance you understand the mystery of timing one of these after a customer thought it'd be easy to install a new one?

Check out my other videos where I explain timing on a Perkins diesel (same principle applies). Ensuring injection pump is keyed to timing gear (it isn’t always on older engines), then checking exact timing.
Hopefully there is a scribe mark from the pump casing to the engine block mating surface. Or maybe missing paint or some indicator of where it goes (the injector pump usually has slotted bolt holes. If not there is a procedure for timing that is best explained by others, as that is the extent of my knowledge!
