Thanks Grace! There are many traditions out there, so this won’t always be a way to be sure. However one can ensure they are within an accepted lineage. Another is through teachings such as the Three Dharma Seals which ensures a teaching is true, and thus a practice. It’s always good to do some internet searches to see if there is any feedback about a group or location.
