I came across the mud mixer a few weeks ago and am really impressed!! I own 4 acres and have a lot of 'projects' [things I want to do] around the house /yard that I want to do. The only thing that held me back was that I didn't want to deal with concrete because of the CO$T and messiness [and confidence to do a good job]!! But THIS is definitely a game changer! I think that the cost of a mud mixer overall will pay itself off after a few projects since I won't have to contract the work out. Just get a finisher while I build my skills and then do jobs by myself eventually. Your videos have helped me out a lot and was the determining factor for me to get one in the coming months!! Thanks! Keep doing what you do!!
Thanks for the thorough run down on this new machine. I plan to rent one ($100 a day where I live) for a job I'm doing. I wanted to see what I was getting into before I rented it. Great video!
Thanks for the thorough review! I've been on the fence about this purchase as I do such a variety of projects it's something I Will probably only use a few times a year. Decided to pull the trigger and order it this afternoon!
I bought a mud mixer because of your video’s in March and I love it only problem I had was the switch which I called them and they sent me a new one and one of the welds on the axle where the tires connect broke other than that it’s been perfect. and yes I bought the extra hopper
The MudMixer would be great, I can think of a number of projects I would do if I had one. What I have instead is an old Harbor Freight mixer similar to the one James has in this video. It's what I have so I use it. Rather than try and empty a bag of concrete into it I empty a couple of 80 pound bags into a wheelbarrow, put some water into the mixer and then I use a shovel to put concrete into the mixer. At 60 years old this loading system works well for me.
Those 80lbs are heavier as the years gone by. I remember when it was no issue for my pickup up 100lbs bag; I grabbed 50lbs bag with each hand. Now I would be lucky to pickup 60lbs bag. Thx goodness I have sa technic which is lift with your legs!
Ha, I'm almost 70, and thought I was the only one that did it that way. I use those black plastic mortar tubs in my wheelbarrow. It's a lot easier to break an 80 pounder in half, pour half in, then shovel the rest, pick up the tub and pour in that last half shovel. Wheelbarrow stays clean that way.
That was a really well done video thanks. When you mentioned the second Mud Mixer that's the first time I've ever heard Mo say no for anything for you.
Funny, we have the same body, a working man! I've passed my prime, spent 40 years running my swimming pool business. I've moved on into industrial maintenance. My son is mid 30s, and is a 3rd gen pool builder. I'm impressed with your review!
Enjoyed your video. I’ve had mine since June and have poured about 10-12 yards in my barn floor. Mud Mixer has been great with their support. The only real issue I’ve seen have been more witb the Sakrete than the mixer. Inconsistency in the aggregate size is a pain, it binds a little off and on and then Home peepot sent me a pallet of old concrete that had set up and is all clumpy. It won’t run for nothing. I guess I could screen it, but too much work. Overall I am very satisfied too. I’m planning the last 8-10 yards over the Christmas holidays so I may reach out to them about a spare auger and shear pin or two. I’d hate to order 12 pallets of concrete and have it tear up.
I work for a national rental company and we recently started carrying these. That was an awesome review. I may try to use one of these to pour my piers for a new small house I’m hoping to start building soon. Thanks!
It's great to hear about their awesome customer service. My husband is getting one. Hopefully, it'll be here in the next week or two. We're so excited.
I think it is a great product for bag mix! I have two of the MQ Mix & Go just because I like to mix from scratch for my projects. You need two of the drum mixers to get any productivity.
Thanks for the video. I put a good 20 yards through one of those tumbler ones before the barrel fell off. Was just about ready to buy another one to cement the barn floor in February. Just called our rental place. $113 per day $361 per week for the Mud mixer. Well worth giving it ago. Never buying a tumbler again.
Okay I was on the fence, but hearing your customer service story sold me. Just ordered, mine. Love companies that put their money where their mouth is. Makes a huge difference when your spending hard earned money on expensive items. Thanks bro.
I looked at these before they were really on the market. I thought the price is a little expensive when towards a big poly mixer. I like the usefulness of the mudmixer for running curbs. The big mixer are consistent if you meter your water.
I noticed a minor problem another reviewer had with the Mud Mixer was to make sure the Mixer is leaning forward or at least level (not leaning backwards). The concrete didn't want to push out as easy when leaning back. If they added a screw jack similar to a trailer tongue jack would be nice.
Whenever possible I’d have my tractor with a pallet of concrete sitting right next to it so I could lift them all up to where you just slide a bag over and drop it in on the splitter.
Hopefully you’ll see this. Bought one last week. Used it for the first time Thursday, worked great but had a learning curve. Will Probably be taking out the small patch job (2’x3’) because I was by myself and kept messing with the water mix. Anyway, have you had any issue with a sandy/wet mess leaking out of the shaft between motor and hopper? Had two big wet messes on a pool patio on each side that was pushing out cement & sand. I’ve emailed mud mixer but have not heard back yet
I've been considering pouring a 3.5 yard pad in my back yard for a Gazebo but because I don't have Truck access it makes mixing that much a tough job. This machine appears to make it a much easier job, but I couldn't justify it's purchase. Looking into rent it, it's only $97 per day at Rent-All. At a Year per Hour I'm looking at just 1 day of rent.
I've had my mudmixer for 2 months. Mixed 3 pallets of 80lb crete so far doing home owner things. Some sort of metal screen in the hopper would be cool to have to filter out the chunkers. Every once in a while I would get chunkers from the bagged crete and get jammed in the auger.
Yup I’ve used one of these before. Great product but if they could bring out an xl version that does 3 yards per hour or so it would open up a bunch of sales and scope of diy jobs. They would certainly get my money but og is a bit two small currently. I’ll keep an eye on the company though. Who knows, maybe they will read this…
I’m considering getting one, in Canada here it’s 5 grand by the time it gets to my door, so it’s a tough sell. Bigger would be better but unfortunately I don’t think a home owners water supply would be able to keep up with the demand unless it had some sort of plastic hopper up top that you could pre-fill to supplement the water supple from the house
I'm just a diy guy, and when I saw this machine a while back and all I thought was game changer. Can this replace a cement on a large poor like small backyard shop?
that is good in the states where you have redimix just add water but here we have add sand add grit or gravel to 90 lb bag cement so though I would love that, it will not work.. what I use now is a mixer that takes like one bag at a time, add sand and gravel..r
I'm wondering how hard it would be to make one? I know how to weld and wonder if you could use a post hole auger in a metal tube (I like the top cut out assuming this is to aid the mix not getting stuck).
On the bigger one they should have an option for a conveyor belt that feeds the full bags into the hopper, where the operator just has to drag bags to the bottom of the mixer, conveyor belt lifts and dumps it in the hopper, operator removes empty bag.
Looks like a box sieve would sit on top of the hopper to screen out the over size aggregate. What ever the size would be to keep to the over size out. Down side would be you would have to cut open the bag before pouring through the sieve. Just a thought. Looks like a pretty cool machine.
I was wondering if you’ve ever used the redi mix concrete from Menards in it, their brand unlike Quickrete has small aggregate in it which I like over the fine powdery type like quickrete when I pour piers and foundations. The aggregate is like birdshot size pea stone and I’m just concerned it the augers would handle it. I figured I’d ask you before contacting mudmixer.
Nice explanation of the mixer! What would be about the break even point for getting the MudMixer and doing a slab all DIY vs hiring a mixer truck and crew? I'm thinkin around 30' x 30'?
I'd like to see one in action. I am assuming they have a conversion to get the slump you want. That's the correct terminology. I have used barrel mixers before and they work fine. Very consistent if using bags of concrete but a little difficult to move around in the pour.
@@JamesMoVlogs that sounds awesome! we are renting one tomorrow, our local hardware store has had one for the last year and nobody has rented it. we will be the first renters. If it goes as well as I hope it will will probably be purchasing one that Hopper extension looks amazing I can't wait to see the auger extension I looked for your video but I couldn't see any footage with the actual auger extension installed.
@@treadlightlyservicesllc.1930 ruclips.net/video/inSCyfEJ9a8/видео.html you can see it in the Timelapse pretty handy for projects like I did in the video 😎👍
The only edge I can see for the barrel mixer is if you add a bit more cement powder to the bags of ready mix. You can customize your mix. But ovérall I'm jealous of the contractors and guys doing their own pours that can afford the $3k price. I'm doing a sidewalk at my house and dang am I jealous of you guys lol.
The only down side I can see is remote use. You would need a pressurized water source and electrical connections but then again you'd need the same for a electric barrel mud mixer. I do agree with you that a larger one would be nice if you had a large pad to pour for a shed or garage. I was also impressed with your experience with their customer service, especially these days where most companies treat you like a child. Thanks for the review and I'm definitely interested in purchasing one in the near future. Cheers from the NEK of Vermont.
For my application I am in no hurry and won't be on anyone's clock, so I believe pulling a regular mixer along with equipment and using cut-out pvc to direct the flow saves lots of money and there's also the dry pour.methed.
This small unit needs to be in home depots rental store but they also need a larger tow behind unit that hooks to the back of your flat bed truck you've got a pallet full of ready mix bags on one guy could load all day and the crew spread out the mix on larger jobs, also a 4 part mixer that has the separate Components portland cement, sand and stone and fiberglass you can load with a skid steer, how many jobs are 50 miles outside city limits and no concrete companies around to deliver 50 yards of mix. You might get a pumper truck but its going to cost a bunch. Thats also an idea a tow behind pumper system . They do have mobile machines that bring the plant to you but your going to overpay for a 3 yard pour. The jobs too small. Bags cost more then the separate parts and i don't see adding fiberglass reinforcement with this system. Plus what if there's no power or water on the job, its going to need to be on your truck.
I bought one used it on a footing it was amazing, 2nd job switch quit working, they sent me a new switch I installed it and put it away. Next job ready to go and the water would not flow in forward only flowed in reverse I tried switching wires around assuming I had wired the new switch wrong but still could not get it to work correctly, they sent me a wiring diagram ……. Unit is still not watering in forward, I put it away don’t know if I’ll ever attempt to use it again, it has caused a lot of problems by not working.
Using bagged premix here is way to expensive unless its only two or three fence post's, its up to $17 a bag whereas bag of cement is about $10 and a scoop of premixed sand/metal is $30 so 1/2m3 of concrete is like $70 compared to 50+ bags $600@$12 per bag bulk price. Looks like a great mixer though
I sure like that machine, but I dont do enough concrete work to justify it currently. I sure wish rental houses would start offering these! What would you say the largest pour you could comfortably do with this would be? Also I was wondering how the new set of MT100 tracks are holding up.. any better than the first replacement set? Im at 310hrs on my originals and starting to look for replacements. Thanks!
New tracks are awesome! Track Hut is where I got the new ones, and check out there website for rental spots I know a few rental places who rent them in my area. If your near San Diego you can borrow mine I got 2 now. Biggest I’ve done was a 4 yard footing pour
My wife and I are getting one. We have an L28 Bobcat mini articulated, what are your thoughts of mounting this on a pallet type base, losing the wheels altogether, for better mobility around the project? The boom extension, etc. love your videos on this device.
I am with you, it looks really slow and how does it roll over rebar and wire? This is for small projects. It also looks to low for a wheel barrow, which is a must.
Could you use the "old" drum mixer to blend the concrete mix onsite (instead of ready-mix bags) and then dump into the Mud Mixer hopper? Then you can ensure the aggregate is small enough to not hurt the augur, and save a bit (?) on raw material
are there any scenarios you have run into when the water is spraying when you did not want it to. For instance when you first start and put mix in do you get too much water too start until the auger can grab some mix? or the hopper runs out, etc.?
I bought a used mortar mixed with a Honda gas engine for 1500 bucks I can mix 8 80 lb bad at a time been using it for years not one problem I do like the mud mixer but it’s not fast enough for me . We mixed 42 bags in 27 minutes
I agree plus you're not going to be mixing and you're not going to be mixing any gravel in that machine. It may be good for mixing mortar but there's no way you're going to pour a driveway with that
2 would be better than one bigger one just for the fact that if one went down, you would still have the other one running. You could also have them across from each other in some cases, like on each side of a sidewalk, when possible.
So is this only mixing when it is feeding the concrete out? Or can you stop feeding out the concrete but keep it mixing so it stays consistent, for when you need to pause and move to a new area that you might be working, that is on the other side of the property?
Hardly fair comparing a $3,000 tool to a $300 one. At least compare it to a 6cuft commercial-grade mixer. When pouring a slab, seems like it would be a nuisance waiting for the slow dribble of the mud mixer vs dropping 1/4 to 1/3 of a yard at a time.
Commercial grade mixer that cost twice as much and can’t fit it anywhere in confined spaces? And how are you going to get the same consistency in slump with a commercial mixer like the Mudmixer?
Love your site. Found it looking for reviews on the Mud Mixer. Looks like the real deal & will be getting me one. Did you buy from a dealer or the company & were is the company located. Thanks for your great youtube channel.
Fantastic video; extremely informative and real!(1st time viewer). A question for you… do you think we might be able to incorporate this mixer on some projects for small commercial curbing projects? Have you tried mixing a very dry mix? I’m worried about the speed of the auger being too fast for zero-1” slump. We’d be using a Miller 650 curber with no forms. You mentioned you poured curbs but I’m assuming that was with form boards. Thx in advance!! You got a new fan!!
You definitely are one of the realest RUclipsrs. Always enjoy the videos man.

A generator and a Milwaukee water pump is what I use for remote stuff done multiple jobs remote
I’ve done remote work and that is easily overcome. You already need 120v for the unit so just add a 120v diaphram pump and you are set.
For my application I am in no hurry and won't be on anyone's clock, so I believe pulling a regular mixer along with equipment and using cut-out pvc to direct the flow saves lots of money and there's also the dry pour.methed.
This small unit needs to be in home depots rental store but they also need a larger tow behind unit that hooks to the back of your flat bed truck you've got a pallet full of ready mix bags on one guy could load all day and the crew spread out the mix on larger jobs, also a 4 part mixer that has the separate
Components portland cement, sand and stone and fiberglass you can load with a skid steer, how many jobs are 50 miles outside city limits and no concrete companies around to deliver 50 yards of mix.
I would have like to have seen the auger extension
I got videos using it 😎👍
I sure like that machine, but I dont do enough concrete work to justify it currently.
There are two rental places near me that have them and it is less than $300 for a week of use.
@@christopherhaak9824 nice! So basically save myself 250 dollars a week to own one 😂👍
My wife and I are getting one. We have an L28 Bobcat mini articulated, what are your thoughts of mounting this on a pallet type base, losing the wheels altogether, for better mobility around the project? The boom extension, etc. love your videos on this device.
Thank you!!
If you ever get time please answer my question!
@@keweenawbee leave the wheels on it and just strap it to a pallet
I guess we’ll use it for awhile to see what makes sense or not.
It looks so slow on their promo video. Good to hear that it works for real jobs, thanks!
😎👍👊
I am with you, it looks really slow and how does it roll over rebar and wire? This is for small projects. It also looks to low for a wheel barrow, which is a must.
Great video, very informative. Wish i would have seen these before building my cellar.
Have you ever operated the machine off of a generator?
Yes! Use my Honda 1000 😎👍
Sweet. Thanks for the reply!

Could you use the "old" drum mixer to blend the concrete mix onsite (instead of ready-mix bags) and then dump into the Mud Mixer hopper?
Then you can ensure the aggregate is small enough to not hurt the augur, and save a bit (?) on raw material
Yeah if you’re located in an area that has good aggregate. Here in San Diego hard to come by good stuff.
That was quick!
I'd be looking at building a little outside of DFW so I imagine good aggregate is available
JOHN GOTTI APPROVED
What is the OD of the tube/auger
Definitely good to have.. Good review
😎👊
Thanks for the no BS video. I'm gonna need footers for a cabin....roughly 24x32. Would this machine be suitable for that?
Take a hot minute but definitely do able
@@JamesMoVlogs
Thanks!
Super useful video. Thank you.
😎👊👊
are there any scenarios you have run into when the water is spraying when you did not want it to. For instance when you first start and put mix in do you get too much water too start until the auger can grab some mix? or the hopper runs out, etc.?
I always put a bag in first then turn on, so barely any water is wasted
I bought a used mortar mixed with a Honda gas engine for 1500 bucks I can mix 8 80 lb bad at a time been using it for years not one problem I do like the mud mixer but it’s not fast enough for me . We mixed 42 bags in 27 minutes
Nice!
I agree plus you're not going to be mixing and you're not going to be mixing any gravel in that machine. It may be good for mixing mortar but there's no way you're going to pour a driveway with that
nailed it m2j
😎👍
2 would be better than one bigger one just for the fact that if one went down, you would still have the other one running. You could also have them across from each other in some cases, like on each side of a sidewalk, when possible.
That’s what we do 😎👍
Love mine! Knuckle buster though
So is life lol
So is this only mixing when it is feeding the concrete out? Or can you stop feeding out the concrete but keep it mixing so it stays consistent, for when you need to pause and move to a new area that you might be working, that is on the other side of the property?
yeah once you turn it off water shuts off and auger stops so you can move it
Good Job! Thanks -
Thanks for watching!
When you said “I wish it was bigger” I believe that’s what she said!😅🤣
It is lol
Hardly fair comparing a $3,000 tool to a $300 one. At least compare it to a 6cuft commercial-grade mixer. When pouring a slab, seems like it would be a nuisance waiting for the slow dribble of the mud mixer vs dropping 1/4 to 1/3 of a yard at a time.
Commercial grade mixer that cost twice as much and can’t fit it anywhere in confined spaces? And how are you going to get the same consistency in slump with a commercial mixer like the Mudmixer?
Please when will they have an inbuilt generator to power the
Mud Mixer?
Also can water clean it well or do you use a cement degreaser’s all the time?
I always rinse it off with water 😎👊 and my little Honda 1000 powers this thing no problem
Love your site. Found it looking for reviews on the Mud Mixer. Looks like the real deal & will be getting me one. Did you buy from a dealer or the company & were is the company located. Thanks for your great youtube channel.

Thank you they are out of Texas 😎👍👊
Fantastic video; extremely informative and real!(1st time viewer). A question for you… do you think we might be able to incorporate this mixer on some projects for small commercial curbing projects? Have you tried mixing a very dry mix? I’m worried about the speed of the auger being too fast for zero-1” slump. We’d be using a Miller 650 curber with no forms. You mentioned you poured curbs but I’m assuming that was with form boards. Thx in advance!! You got a new fan!!
Do you think you get the same strength of concrete from the bags as a truck?
Quickrete 5000 is 5000 psi 😎👍
