Had mine for 2 years now, and I only wish I'd gotten it sooner! Can't beat the ease of mowing, the care-free maintenance compared to gas mowers/cleaning dirty carbs/oil changes, etc. The brushless motor is a dream, and it rarely chokes on long grass. Mine came with two blades, so I will sharpen one and keep it in the ready to change out for the dull one. Absolutely love the one-handle height adjuster. It's quiet, has a solid metal deck, easy handle adjustment and fold-down design. Flaws if any? 1. The plastic battery hood sometimes gets caught up on low bushes. 2. The variable speed control really has only about 3-4 speeds and is touchy to modulate. 3. The power LED display on the handle is only a rough estimate of your total power left; I've had it down to no lights and still mowed my back lawn which is around a quarter acre. Thanks.

Bought it. Extremely satisfied. Needed propeller when go up to hill or cut dense 10 inch weeds. Battery died in the middle, but no issue, charged for 3 hours, and finished. If I can use it for one year, it will pay me its cost.

UPDATE: Purchased mower right after writing review. Use it three times a week cause its so easy and actually fun to use. Lawn looks amazing! Great review, helped me make a decision to purchase.
Have had this mower for less than two months. First two times I mowed with it, I was pleased. Battery life is now down from about 45 minutes to 20 minutes. I previously used an Ego mower for 4 years before selling it when I moved. Do yourself a favor: buy an Ego mower!
Buy a gas mower, it will cost 1/2 the price in the end… I had the exact same mower, lasted me 4 years, this is year 5. Out of the box the battery will give you a lot of cutting power but remember if you are not doing a maintenance cut you will use more power and the RPM’s will go up. Your battery will last 15 minutes in thick or wet grass. I can get this mower for $700, add a 2nd battery that’s $300, replace those 2 in 2 to 3 years that’s another $600, is that what you want to pay to mow your lawn? I could easily put out close to $2,000, or buy a gas mower with a Honda engine, all the bells in whistles, $15-$20 for gas per season, $6 for oil, replace the air filter and spark plug in 2-4 years. Still with a bit of low cost maintenance, you could pay 2-3 times less than with a battery powered mower. Buyer beware, these Battery-Powered mowers can really add up in $$.

ok review.. he missed saying the red plug by the battery compartment is a safety plug. it wont run if you take it out. if you lose it you cant use the mower till you find it or replace it. leave it in..i figure thats very important information if you ask me.
This is seriously the best advice, as silly as it sounds. I haven’t even been able to use my own mower yet because we accidentally threw out our safety key and GreenWorks customer service has been absolutely terrible with finding the replacement. After several back and fourth emails with the company, being on hold with them for over an hour and a half, and trying two different keys they sent me (yes- Greenworks does not seem to know which of their keys is compatible with this brand new lawn mower..) we still do not have a lawn mower that can turn on. It’s insane to me that the manufacturer does not know which safety key goes to their own lawn mower, model MO60L01! I digress... moral of the story: don’t lose that safety key. Guard it with your life.
Thank you I’ve been looking everywhere to see what that was or if it was possibly a cord back up. It’s not, I guess. My battery died and I don’t have a way to get it replaced.
How do you properly clean undercarriage of mower? Instructions say NOT to clean with water? I have later model 25” blade or deck? Very happy with product’s efficiency and reliable start up process. Lot more “fun” than gasoline powered ones!!
Thanks for the review. This NEW Greenworks 60v 21" Self Propelled mower is on my short-list of choices. I'm mostly wondering about bagging performance. I bag about half the time for normal mowing, and mulch the other half. Except for Spring and Fall, when I bag almost exclusively. Especially when mowing and sucking up Fall leaves (Illinois). Can you comment on it's bagging performance? And, does Greenworks offer a "High-Lift" blade to increase the "suction?"
The problem with GreenWork is the lack of intercompatibility. They have like 4 different batteries voltage. I have a 40V chain saw: not compatible with the 80V battery of the trimmers, which is also different from the batteries of this mower. I've switched to Ego Power. All their batteries are compatible with all their tools.
Lowes carries their 60V battery products. It appears to be to lock the consumer to returning to the same store if they don't want 3 or 4 different chargers and battery types.
I have had mine about four months. It is a lot easier to operate than a gas mower, and does a great job. However, the drive speed, even at the lowest setting, has suddenly become rediculously fast - like a medium jog - so I cannot use it. Is there any way to adjust this?
I have a question we bought one of these and it came with two batteries. We used it yesterday, however it shut down after a half hour, so we assume the batteries were dead came in and one battery was still fully charged so we’re not sure why it didn’t switch over automatically?

Is the model number for this mower 2520102? Also, can this mower be used as a push mower without the propelled feature? Sometimes I pull back on the mower when maneuvering it. Can I do that with this mower?

it operates as a key. You pull it out when you dont want to accidentally turn on the mower while moving it around the storage (e.g. in a garage). Another option is removing the batteries.
Is the 60V better than their 40V with 6Ah battery. I have a 40V charger from past purchases as well ad 4Ah battery so I thought that would not be compatible with you 60V, is that true?

Don't clean it with a hose. According to our local distributer, that's the number one servicing reason. In addition to the aforementioned batteries, you should keep the motor dry.
I just bought this same Mower last week, I got a chance to use it this weekend, the grass was 4-5" tall but not really dense I used the self propelled at 50% speed my first use with 1 fully charged battery was only 32 minuets and the 2nd 3rd and 4th times was between 30 and 36 minuets my recharge times were 2 hours per charge +/- a total of 4 times (8 hours total recharge times) and basically 2 hours use times, why is the use time so low?
Update- Green Works resolved my issue regarding the battery use time, it takes a while to get through to them, I finally left my call back number and they called back issue resolved.
I just recently purchased this mower, it states max height in the manual 4in. There is no way this can be true. At setting 7 from the ground to the bottom lip of the mower is about 2-1/2. I know the blade sits up higher in the deck about another 1/2 in or so. What are your thoughts? I was wondering if my mower is not set correctly from the factory but it looks fine and adjusts up and down fine.
@@Protoolreviews Thanks for checking. So I'm about 1/2 off I guess. I keep looking at this mower and there is no way I can adjust it guess I will have to deal with it. I usually use my Honda hrx217 which can go to over 4in. Thanks again.
If you are using the self propelled mower and wish to pull it backwards you must first stop forward motion push slightly forward to disengage the transmission and then you can pull it back without resistance, I am 80 years old and on a flat surface without real high grass I could push it with out a lot of resistance, but sure glad I bought the self propelled as the speed control is very nice and you can adjust from very slow to fairly fast, however for me, fast is for maybe a 20 years old?
In socal you get $250 back if you turn in your old gas mower. Paid $449 for this one on sale so pretty much got this one for 200. With the warranty it's a steal
The warranty is next to impossible to claim. The battery will last a few years then costs $200 to replace. Gas is a lot cheaper. So don't buy it because it's cheaper. It's not. It's just potentially more convenient.
@@alanlarson8540 before doing that, maybe you should find out the use and recharge times for each battery as you may get a reality check as on my self propelled mower the speed set at 50% for 90% of the time I was only able to get between 30 and 36 minuets use time and a 2 hour recharge time on the 54 V 5.0 Ah battery, granted the ambient temperature was 85 F or cutting approximately 5,000 sq. feet per full battery charge the grass was about 4-5" high, was not dense; I never had any stalls while using the side discharge.
@@dino11216 OK thanks. I wonder why they designed it like that? They are high-power LEDs and will drain a part of the battery charge. Why have them on when mowing in daylight? I'll probably still get this model but it's strange design choice.
I just bought this to replace my gas-powered walk-behind and LOVE it so much, but I have a Q. I'm a little lost on how to get this front-wheel mower to reverse! On my old mower, I simply let off the self-propelled handle and it was pretty easy to drag back. This one: no. Those back wheels are LOCKED. I don't need the blades engaged when I drag it back. Do I have to let it die then fire it back up? Anyone know?
My gas powered Lawn-Boy does the same thing. The manual says to push it forward and inch or so before pulling the mower back. May be a similar drive setup. I'm here because I may replace my 20 year old Lawn-Boy with this mower.
Is this the latest model? What is the part no. /model number I want to make sure I am getting the same one. Looking at Walmart 2546202 part number, couldn't find a model number. Also is it easy to assemble, like do you have to put the wheels on? thank you!
I bought this mower a couple weeks ago and have used it twice and I can say that it lacks power of a gas mower hands down. The side discharge is almost non existent after removing the mulching attachment and putting the side discharge chute on it leaves clumps of grass instead of discharging from the side because there is not enough power (with full battery charge) to blow the grass out from the mower. Same thing when using the bag it cant throw the grass into the bag not enough power. the blade seem to run slowly and i have to go back over spots of grass several times. It will eventually get the job done however, the mower IS TERRIBLY UNDER POWERED
Just picked one up. Is it okay to charge the battery when it is not completely depleted? Some batteries go bad when not drained and fully recharged routinely.
Nate, the main thing with Lithium-Ion batteries is not to store them completely full or completely empty, so if it's near empty when you're finished mowing, charge it but set yourself a timer to remind yourself to remove it when it's ~80% full and store it that way. Then, if needed you can just top it off to 100% right before you mow. Also, extreme heat and cold degrades these batteries faster (and charging creates heat), so store/charge it indoors if at all possible. You should theoretically gets thousands of charge cycles by following these guidelines.
@@killlbeaster6056 This is totally accurate. The 60 min runtime on the box will never be achieved unless maybe going downhill the entire time and not actually mowing anything.
this is the same one they tested in 2019 I believe, 1 hour no load run time will drop to 75% with a maintenance cut, under a heavy load though it will go down to 33%. The trick with any Battery-Powered mower is to use it in optimal conditions. Don’t try to mow 4” at once, take an inch or so off the top, charge it up and try again, over time the blade, motor and battery will be impacted so keep on top of those things. Really the best thing you can do is to keep the blade sharpened and keep the speed down
I just picked this up on clearance from Lowe's for $249.99! I'm an Ego guy with their carbon shaft trimmer and handheld leaf blower but for that price I overlooked the name. Im not paying $500-700 for a dang push mower!
I did the same, but I'm not impressed with the batteries. I called GW and they can't do much about it while I can still return to Lowes. I guess that's my best course of action, return it all. Kids cut the neighbor's yard and got about 20 minutes of run time on a 5AH battery. Totally bogus. These things aren't ready for prime time. Especially since you could buy a new gas mower for the price of one new battery.
@@MrPristas you may have gotten one with a bad battery. Did you use the self propelled feature all the time and was it in turbo mode continously? With both batteries in the mower I get well over 1hr of mow time, possibly 1hr 30 mins.
The only thing I don't like about battery powered mowers is the battery lifetime. From what I hear you have to buy a new battery every year (2 years if in a state with long winters). Those batteries aren't cheap either. I think if they used larger batteries, although more expensive, they wouldn't wear as fast due to slower discharge 100-0% (when a battery is fully drained in less than an hour it's catastrophic to the batteries health, 2 hours is the nominal time). So with 46 minutes run time on one battery, it has outrageous and unnecessary heat build up and wear on the battery. Hence their short lifespan.
Lightweight is good and what did I use it for it’s a lawnmower ruclips.net/user/postUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend Yes it is lightweight so hence not as robust as our old one. But if you take care it does the job really well.
Bought it and am not that impressed yet. The locknuts to hold the handle on are smaller than the cutouts that are supposed to hold them in place while screwing in the bolt. So they just spin round and round. The charger is lopside and wobbles on the table. My last model of Greenworks mower lasted a whole 16 months before the motor broke apart from the housing and fell out while it was on. This is extremely dangerous and I may be reporting it to consumer safety commission. Battery life is nowhere near what they claim. If you're mowing dirt with no load on completely level ground, maybe it'll last a while. Any grass at all or any incline and the battery time drops dramatically. After a year on my other batteries by Greenworks, they hold far less charge than when newer.
Same for me, I’ve gone through multiple Battery-Powered mowers, the last one is the 40V version of this mower, well built but you have to mow in optimal conditions only. You can get 3 years out of a BP mower before it gets real frustrating. I went back to gas, just not worth replacing a $200+ battery when you don’t know how long the motor will last
Had mine for 2 years now, and I only wish I'd gotten it sooner! @@Protoolreviews Wow. 3-4 years ? Let’s be honest that’s a complete and utter failure compared to the 10 of gas . The new ones are awesome but I wouldn’t be happy unless they are getting 8-10 years , 5 at least on the battery
Is the model number for this mower 2520102? Also, can this mower be used as a push mower without the propelled feature? Sometimes I pull back on the mower when maneuvering it. Can I do that with this mower?
Thank you for the great review. What is the no load decible (dB) for this model?
Hello, I would like to know as well and is there a middle speed between the donkey and race horse speeds ? Lol 😊
In another review they said around 86 db.

I bought this mower. I don't know what a mulcher plug is? I have never had a mower with this feature
dammit i bought the old version like a month ago, didnt know there was a new one out. also got a bad battery that wont charge more than half way. they said they'll send a new one, so im not mad at the company, just feeling a little shafted that i got the old one for the price of the new one.
I'm wondering how the 60v mower compares to the 80v pro?
2:29 what is the red plug toward the front, under the cover?
it operates as a key.
Can you get it wet? Rain or cleaning with a hose??
@@Protoolreviews Thanks for the fast reply and info! you earned a new subscriber and a thumbs up... great video, keep it up sir!!
@@77.88. what did they say and or do to resolve the issue of 32 mins use time?
With mine I get about 1hr of run time on the 5 AH battery.
Whats the red thing for in the mower next to the battery?
That is the safety switch. When plugged in it will run, if you remove it it will not run.
Hi, I bought this mower and it says it mulches, but it doesn't come with a mulching blade. Should I buy one and will it fit this mower? Thank you
No, the blade it has is multi use
...so what's the main difference between 60V and 80V ? Thanks !
More power...
You didn’t even cut with it. WTF ?
😂
i bought one from lowes. it didnt have the battery or charger i box?
@@Protoolreviews
It was marked. said 80v battery and charger included. They weren't in box.
@@Protoolreviews
Lowes.says you must contact tool company, not them. I sent email to green works. Been 1 week ago. They won't reply back.
How resistant is it when you pull it backwards?
If you are using the self propelled mower and wish to pull it backwards you must first stop forward motion push slightly forward to disengage the transmission and then you can pull it back without resistance, I am 80 years old and on a flat surface without real high grass I could push it with out a lot of resistance, but sure glad I bought the self propelled as the speed control is very nice and you can adjust from very slow to fairly fast, however for me, fast is for maybe a 20 years old?
$500 and only one battery I paid $400 for my gas mower 8 years ago this better last at least that same amount of time
4 year warranty
In socal you get $250 back if you turn in your old gas mower. Paid $449 for this one on sale so pretty much got this one for 200. With the warranty it's a steal
@@mjnatty968 it was just reduced today (4/22) to $399. You may be able to get a credit of $50 if purchased within past 30 days.
Every thing was cheaper 8 years ago.
The warranty is next to impossible to claim. The battery will last a few years then costs $200 to replace. Gas is a lot cheaper. So don't buy it because it's cheaper. It's not. It's just potentially more convenient.
I wanted to see the drive motors
Great review and very helpful. Does a 2nd battery have to be a 5.0 as well or can it be a 4.0 that is used with the 60 V trimmer or blower?
Amperage difference is fine, but has to match the voltage though.
Thank You I had the same question. I think I’m going to get the 6.0 60 v battery.
Is there an update on this mower?
@@Protoolreviews Thank you!
Looking to buy one - how do you turn on the lights? I can't see any switch to turn them on on the handle.
They turn on with the motor
@@dino11216 OK thanks. I wonder why they designed it like that? They are high-power LEDs and will drain a part of the battery charge. Why have them on when mowing in daylight? I'll probably still get this model but it's strange design choice.
@@nashme11 led lights use very little to no power
It will eventually get the job done however, the mower IS TERRIBLY UNDER POWERED
i hear the home depot theme playing
I have this but mine won't start
What about cleaning?
Where is the safety key
Just picked one up. Is it okay to charge the battery when it is not completely depleted? Some batteries go bad when not drained and fully recharged routinely.
I don't think that is an issue with the lithium batteries Nate.
No 3P battery? Ugh. And worse, no future option for a 7.5 battery because those compartments are too small to fit a bigger battery.
What is the Charge time of this battery, and how well does it mulch?
From full 0 I would say 3-4 hours and runs for around 25 minutes with 1 battery but 50 with 2. It can go alot longer if you dont use self propelled
@@killlbeaster6056 This is totally accurate. The 60 min runtime on the box will never be achieved unless maybe going downhill the entire time and not actually mowing anything.
Where do I buy this in Washington, DC?
Lowe's
Run time?
Was 45 minutes when I got it six weeks ago; is now 20 minutes. Ego mowers are, in my experience, a lot better in run time.
this is the same one they tested in 2019 I believe, 1 hour no load run time will drop to 75% with a maintenance cut, under a heavy load though it will go down to 33%.
Thats such a cute little mower blade. I've had Radio Controlled Helicopters with a bigger blade span. lol
I went back to gas, just not worth replacing a $200+ battery when you don’t know how long the motor will last
Don't buy it. I have one, and it stopped working in less than a year with little use. Drive wheel froze. Crap mower.
