The terrain icon on the world map. Really tells you what the next map is gonna have. The canyon area has lots of Rock and herd nodes much like the world map icon had. The forest would likely have lots of trees, herbs, and pemkin but little stone or ore nodes. Just my thoughts based on the little I saw in this video.
Plus read the pop ups. Drudgery said the your peeps would get sick while gathering.
Edit: Episode 2 would be rad!
This is basically "Civ macro: the game". And I am all for it. It probably helps too that nomadic life has always been a fascination of mine.

I've played the game for a few hours, but haven't had much luck getting to the eye. Your video has some great suggestions on how to best play the game, as well as things I didn't even know I could do! Great video!
That's for sure an interesting concept, the art style is very pretty, the mechanics look a bit harder to grasp but that's not necessarily a bad point. Thanks Splatt' for finding all these cool and original games out there !

thanks for the play, was looking at this as its not my normal type of game, but looks kinda fun, and diff is good to break the boredom sometimes, looks like a nice art style too

Remember you can make a market to trade off supplies for things you need! Since there is a lot of wool on the halt, you could trade wool for wood with the market :)

The graphics look like For the King especially the theme and tiles.
for the king art style is called 'Low Poly'.
I understand what you mean, it's the lighting and over all post processing and camera that reminds of For the King (not to mention the hex grid), but the graphics are quite different.

@@ecopis If you mean that they have similar visual styles because of Unity 3D engine, then no, it has nothing to do with it. Escape from Tarkov, for example, is made in Unity.
Thank you for your videos man. I have made many purchases based off one of your videos, of very awesome games. This is my next one. Can you perhaps tell me, what the rougelite portion of the game is? Is it just unlocking new tribes, or is there more to it, and is there a log or list in game of what you have unlocked or not?

.......The tile map overview actually gives you a good indicator of what resources will be available(abundant) and not seeing trees should have made it clear that wood would be hard to get there O.o

doesnt the map wieve show what are the dominant resouces on the area. The first one had a lot of tree icons. the second got a lot of rocks. If im not mistaken that should be enough to prioritise.
maybe the buffalo just takes a bath every now and then...?

this game reminds me of Niche and Northgard.
28:23 Very first lines of the Pop-up: "Drudgery: The work of a GATHERER and its specializations"... Cat skips right past that to "fields" and assumes one of the tiles on the map is the problem. smh
But also, it's not just Splattercat's hatred of pop-ups; from the reviews on Steam this game's RNG is BRUTAL, and many players are often trapped needing a ton of some specific resource to move forward that there wasn't really any way for them to acquire.
I LOVE the look of this game, but I'm probably gonna wait till they use all the angry feedback to balance the crap outta this thing. Definitely a Watchlist, though.
