Thank you, Jeffry. Unfortunately many of my Brazilian compatriots don't value many things in the country because they don't travel and idealize Europe, the US etc. About Holland, I was twice there (quickly) and I was told that the health care is not that good and people have to pay insurance for it. When I was coming back, I met in my flight a Brazilian woman married to a Dutch, who was bringing her mother-in-law to be operated in Brazil because, at 86, she had no preference in the surgery line. I imagined that younger ones would be "more important to work etc.". I don't know if that was the main reason and I suppose that there are no private hospitals like in Canada or they are very expensive. Happily we have both public and private health in Brazil. I had no much time to talk to her, but I got curious about the Dutch Health system.

A few things are kinda unrealistic to the majority of the population here in Brazil. Have a maid is not so common if you are not in a certain social class. They seem to be a well succeeded couple with an established business, so yes, food and services for them are less expensive, but that is not true to the majority of the population.
With that aside, our health public service is amazing. Our people is warm and receptive, and our culture, despite the current politicians, is prone to accept the differences as an advantage, and not as a reason for hate.

Before, they lived in Salvador, Capital of Bahia state, considered the most "African" city in Brazil (many black Americans live there). As a Kiwi living here in Brazil for the past 12 years I'll go along with Seven of those eight. NZ still tops the world on medical care. With a lot of the hospitals here with overloading and shortages of medical staff it's inevitable the time it takes. Some places like Rio De Janeiro and Sao Paolo, Curitiba, you need to be on your Guard. As for the Southern States The rest of Sao Paolo State, Parana, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, and Mato Grosso do Sul all have their own uniqueness, Both Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul have an extreme Germanic influence, with the culture, architecture and even in some towns the German language is spoken alongside Portuguese. Parana is not Germanic, The Balkan demarcation line along the bottom of Parana cuts off the Southern Germanic influence. By Baltic a lot of Polish, Ukrainian, Bulgarian and Romanians living along the bottom of Parana. With Parana you will find a great deal of Japanese culture. Some Dutch with cities like Ponta Grossa, Home of DAF trucks and Heineken beer. And a little further up. The Southern States are Brazil's highest GDP producers.

She said her favorite number 7 - Maids - This is possible because there aren't jobs for everyone. 30 million people are below the poverty line. You don't see personal maids in rich countries exactly because the gap between poverty and wealth is smaller . Until recently all houses sold in São Paulo had a "made room". Today I can see that affordable help means low pay job

Hi everyone! I think what´s common in Brazil and not mentioned on the video are the low salaries paid to a large part of the population here. It´s very important also that you have a lot of people desperate and in need of an "opportunity" to make money so they can accept anything they get.

I love how they see Brazil and agree with a lot of things (mostly the cultural and nature aspects and about healthcare), but cost-wise, even though things are much cheaper in Brazil than in the US, that's only if you don't factor how much money most people actually make in Brazil. They'd be considered very well off there (maybe not super rich, but at the very least upper medium class - most likely higher).
Most people don't have help in Brazil (for example, my family was never really poor - broke or struggling at times yes, but always had food on our table, a roof over our heads, and basic needs met), but my parents never considered hiring help, because it was just not an option, that was also true for most of my friends growing up (and I think most kids know that's not a thing). A lot of my wealthier friends from uni/work had help/nannies growing up though (they were not necessarily rich, but most could also afford traveling abroad when that wasn't as accessible in Brazil as it is now - still not accessible for most Brazilians).

They move the economy, they are not here to exploit Brazilians as peasants. The previous leafiest governments did that in the name of equality and the excuse of helping the poor.

Poverty is a cruel reality in any third-world country and much more prevalent than in the USA

1- cliché (we dont open our door and find a monkey or a beautiful beach or a river and a boat... just no)
    2- true
3- learning portuguese is great (when you live in brazil)
4- it is Great indeed -however, public healthcare isnt perfect, you can spend hours to see a doctor or months maybe years to get a surgery. Many people pay Health insurance instead.
5- if you profit in dollars yes. Brazil can be cheap, however, if you earn in reais, life can be really tough. About the food yes... i completely agree... Eating fresh fruits is a gift of God. Europe doesnt have the plenty or variety that we have here, and when you find it, it is EXPENSIVE. Apparenlty, in the USA is the same as it is in europe.
6- Brazilian people LOVE foreigners.... As soon we meet someone from abroad we want to show off... we want to make friendship, invite them to our home etc. We just want to have a gringo friend. that sounds cool to us. Then it is easy for a foreigner to get into the culture. We make their lives easier. It is harder to happen when a brazilian goes abroad.
7- hire a cleaner once a week or a month is ok - it may cost about 150 reais for a die hard clean. get a maid everyday, you must be rich... uhhh welll.... when they say it is very very common at 16:45, clearly they are rich and live in a life that is not the same for the great majority of the brazilians (and are unaware of that). Clearly they are rich and are surrounded by rich people. They seem to live in a parallel Brazil, maybe they live in a bubble and are amazed with their new lives.
8- bureaucracy can sulk your energy to open and keep an affordable business, however, he may have talent for business. Connecting to the number 6 i mentioned... that certainly helps him to make money. Wanna make money here? open a Motel in any big city. HA!
there is a girl named Dorothea, an american who lived in the real bRazil, she had experienced the real people and how hard and sweet it is in the real life. that couple lives in a bubble - it is not the reality of the immense majority of us.
Also the most famous gringo in Brasil is Tim. he does live brasil in its core.

    That was Capoeira.
    It's a martial art.
It was developed by the African slaves, when it still was legal here.
But seeing that they were slaves, they couldn't be practicing martial arts, so Capoeira was designed to look like a dance.
When you "play" Capoeira, it is usually accompanied of a music instrument called Berimbau, and traditional songs.
Btw... Homeschooling isn't *nearly* as common here in Brazil as it is in the US. In fact, school attendance might be even mandatory by feredal law. Then again, they're foreigners, so it may not apply.
The downside is that the public schools here make yours look like Harvard in comparison.
Any family with the means put their children in private schools, which tend to be better, and not as expensive as it is in the US.

But for most of the people, the truth is that the minimum salary ins't enough to cover all costs. IS that a reason why families don't have many child, the sons keep living with their parents for long time and only gets out of house to get married (and have someone to divide the bills) or to live with friends.
One thing about Brasil, when you listen the word PUBLIC it means that is FREE for everyone. So we have public healthcare for free, that is awesome, also, we have public universities and they are the bests ( you can graduate, became a master and a doctor for FREE).
About languages, all schools teaches portugueses and english, sometimes Spanish and language courses are affordable. So is kind common that kids knows to speak 2 to 4 languages

@@duduzino818, people in Brazil and probably you yourself tend to idealize some countries called "first world" by the media and think that most people live very well in these countries (at least better than in Brazil) etc.
Of course this couple and five children (5!) are having what they consider a better life for them or they would be back to the US. There are very different levels of life in Brazil, considering that we had the biggest and longest slavery in the Americas. Be sure that quality of life is not only money. Employees, no matter the salary, don't have an easy life in the US. Maybe with exceptions, they don't have over 2 weeks of vacation a year; vacation days are not paid; if you get sick and can't work, you don't get paid either. Imagine losing your job because you can't work and a "little bill" at the hospital, even if you have health insurance (in general people there pay a percentage of the costs). I imagine many disappointments of Brazilians abroad. But in the case this American couple are employers. By the way, I visited many countries, including the US, but never lived abroad. I also imagine that, as a mixed couple (black and white), they and their children feel more comfortable in Brazil because there are many more mixed couples and mixed people like them here. Their first business was in Salvador/Bahia, the most "African" city in Brazil (many black Americans live there). Now they live in Rio de Janeiro and don't have chosen the "European" South of Brazil or other states where people of European descent are very predominant.

"affordable" cost of living is very vague.
If you are payed according to American standards, yes it's. You can probably provide a great quality of life for your family spending around 2,000 to 2,300 dollars every month, so it's is possible for an American to have a big house, access to good private health system, live in nice neighborhoods and do all of that paying less than you would in the states.
BUT you should notice that if get a average American salary (USD 56,000 /year) that would give you around R$ 25,000 p/month. That alone make you part of "Social Class A", the highest social class in Brazil, that 1% richest people in the country.
The cost of living compared to a average Brazilian salary (USD 4,812/year.... sad right?) is absurdly high, you would need to drastically low your standards to be able to provide for your family, like live in a dangerous (and I mean really dangerous, ghettos would sound like a fairy tale) neighborhoods, use exclusively the bad, in fact much worst than they make it look like, public health system, eat just basic and cheap food, and have limited access to technology and entertainment.
So, keep that in mid, Brazil is far way from "affordable" for 99% of population. Do not come to Brazil to live like a Brazilian, come to Brazil to live like a "gringo", ok?

For the Brazilians, the inflation is eating most of the salaries for few years now. So, the situation for the working class is not very good at the moment. I am not saying that what they said is not true, it is true when comparing with the US, but if you work as an employee in Brazil, you will earn like the locals, therefore much smaller salaries than the US. As brazilian, I would never live in Rio de Janeiro, I know it is a beautifull city and has it positive sides, but there are three main reasons that makes me not wanna live there:
    1. Brasil is already a dangerous country, but Rio is one of the most dangerous cities in Brazil. I would not live there specially if I had kids
    2. Weather is too hot for me
    3. Too expensive. I guess Rio and Sao Paulo are the two most expensives cities to live in Brazil, probably.
If I had to move from the city that I was born, to some city in Brazil, the cities that I would consider to go are:
    1. Curitiba
    2. Florianópolis
    3. Brasília
    4. Rio grande do Sul

Guilherme, stop watching too much TV and our media is sensationalist. Rio is home to the biggest TV networks, so it's obvious that it's the most "detonated" city. They keep reapiting similar bad news to attract audience and give the impression of generalization. That's why the whole Brazil has a bad image abroad. When I was in South Africa in 2007, their population also thought that Johannesburg was the most dangerous city in the world, "thanks to their media". Everybody talked about the "terrible Soweto" etc. A group of Brazilians traveling with me was there and had any problem, as most tourists don't have big problems in Rio etc.
If you want to know the truth, closest to reality, ckeck official sites with police crime statistics like "Instituto de Segurança Pública do Rio de Janeiro".
I'm not saying that there are no problems, especially being a big city with big social differences, but it's far from the hell they "paint".

I'm Brazilian and this beautiful family are lucky. The couple probably went to Brazil earning dollars, in Brazilian currency it's a huge amount of money. With their savings it was possible to support their family with a luxury style of life. That luxury is very, very rare to achieve in Brazil when you born over there, it's a totally different life. Most of people in Brazil are poor and can't have basic things to live. I'm happy for the couple that found an opportunity to live very well and wealthy in Brazil but keep this in mind: the majority of Brazilians are poor and don't have access to what they have. I'm living in Vancouver now but I lived most of my life in Brazil.

The thing about being nice and open has a twist: we are really really friendly to foreigners, but although we really smile and crack jokes between ourselves (specially in Rio), we don't treat each other the way we treat foreigners. Brazil is a very needy country, we like to be liked. By the way, the best place to live in Brazil is the south of Bahia.

this video just made me really angry, as a brazilian it’s hard to see a whole family of americans coming here to have a very easy and romantic life while most of brazilians are struggling to live. It’s only affordable to have a maid here because middle class brazilians can’t give up their colonial lifestyle with domestic servant so their payment is very low, they’re mostly black poor people doing housework.
