you went cheap and ran the wipe dry...that's why you have streaks. Also, you stated that the company did not mention using a de-greaser...what do you think DAWN soap is??
Just rewatching how you applied it. Yea definitely you applied it wrong by kept working in the product. 1. Just wipe on the product (do not work in the product) 2. Don’t do the whole car… do as much as one wipe would do (I learned from my mistake using Avalon king ceramic coating that was a bad batch that I wasn’t aware of. It wiped off like ceramic coating. Normally it takes 1 hour it took me 5 hours to buff it off, I had to use a lot of elbow grease was not fun at all) 3. When it gets streaky it means your stingy with the product (meaning you need a new wipe) 4. Don’t start with the fender, start where the windshield wipers are (so it’s not obvious if you mess it up) Im sure you can remove the Cerakote from your plastic trim with some kind of chemical. (You don’t need new plastic trims) I agree Cerakote needs to warn not to work in the product
My opinion is you didn't clean everything really good, your wipe was really dirty after wiping it on. I use a plastic bristle brush to scrub the plastic which gets into everything. I have never had a problem with Cerakote. You really need to make sure it's as clean as it can be, my wipes never come out dirty like yours did.
I scrubbed with Dawn, then went to car wash, waited hours to dry. Cerakote was streaky, some places appeared gloss and some looked matte but it still looks better than the faded grey.
It's an uneven finish because you applied it unevenly. You need to apply more. One car kit doesn't mean if you had a car made entirely out of that plastic that it would do the entire car. It worked on the handles because you applied more there. Most cars don't have plastic fenders that large. It's great that you are trying to do things DIY, but you need to think more about your technique. There are no magical products. They all work as good as the person applies them.
It actually does work good. Buddy just didn't clean it good/if at all. My 10yo sun bleached wrangler fenders looked brand spanking new and I applied it 5 months ago
I was all set to buy this product until I watched your video. I can hear in your voice how disappointed you are with what this product did to your Jeep. I don't think enough people post negative product reviews online (probably due to sponsorships). Thanks for the super informative video. Also, out of sheer curiosity, were you able to correct this?
A bit late, but try some eastwood plastic restorer. It is more of a black paint, but comes really nice. I used it on 20 year old faded black plastic trim and wheel wells on a ram. The stuff sprays nice for the first few blasts, the seems to clog up a bit and starts to splatter, BUT, you just wipe it even and it dries nice. I had it dry with splatter chunks on the large step type plastic on top of bumper and then went back with sand paper (240 grit maybe) to even it down so I could spray with a new can over it. After sanding it and wiping, I didn't even use the new can, it looked flawless and I only sanded the few spots, not the whole thing evenly. I was impressed. Been about 4 months and it looks like I just applied it today. No spots, no fading, smooth like butter. But the stuff ain't cheap. $35 a spray can.
Why does this work for 50% of people really well And 50% turns out horrible?? I just ordered some Maybe it’s a bad batch…? I once ordered Avalon king ceramic coating and applied it to my car. It was horrible. It was like maple syrup. Dumb me did my whole car thinking it’s normal. Took me 5 hours. The contacted Avalon king and they said it was a bad batch and gave me a refund
The wipes hardly have any product on them, there's simply not enough product to do four jeep fenders. I tried it and not impressed. The instructions clearly tell you to apply it in an overlapping fashion. It's just the newest snake oil that is only okay.
Seems all the Jeep owners had a bad time with this product. Here's a shot in the dark: Fiat (current owners of the sadly failing Jeep brand) may have added bad polymers to the fenders to make them react more poorly compared to other plastics that have had success with this product.

Didn't clean it good enough. Its not supposed to "lift dirt off of it" its supposed to be just as clean as when you used it.

As a Mobile Detailer, ive applied this and it takes about 2 packs to do a jeep. But i feel that you didn't clean the surface area good enough.

...the CERAKOTE works just fine...user error.
you applied it all wrong.you applied it uneven, and not enough in some areas.
you should have applied a second coat to cover up your mistakes.
I scrubbed with Dawn, then went to car wash, waited hours to dry. Cerakote was streaky, some places appeared gloss and some looked matte but it still looks better than the faded grey.

I agree. I don’t think one pad is enough for 1 fender . Make sure it’s a even coat .
This was user error .
U can use the home remedy method and do it with peanut butter. Works great it's something to think about, it brings the black back to black.
Thanks for the tip. I was hoping for a longer term fix.
Thank you for this video ....I almost bought it to use on my 95 trans am

Awful video!! You clearly didn’t prep the surface correctly. I used Cerakote Trim on my H2 and it’s still shiny after 14 months.

I just did the same thing to my fenders. They’re ruined. I think I have to buy new fenders now! Awful
This is not permanent. A heavy degreaser will take it off.
Cerakote ruined my jeep fenders. Streaking all over. Looks like crap. So disappointed. Any ideas how to remove the coating?
Bro it's not a permanent finish. It comes off with a heavy degreaser.
I was so let down with that product. Try lithium trim serum, couldn’t be happier.
Thanks for the tip, I’ll look into it. I’m wondering if anything else would stick now that cerakote is on it.

Just tonight I applied to a clients car and got the worse results ever
I had the same results. Terrible
That is a fake product.
This choad does it wrong..then shits all over the company when it looks bad. F-that.. Go elsewhere if you want good info!
