I agree. Tibia is a complete crap game these days (and has been for over 10 years). They have made it too easy and too complex (with imbuements, weird quests, microtransactions, new weird spells etc) at the same time. 7.8 was at least still Tibia to quite a large extent and a MUCH funnier game compared to the garbage game it is today. Makes me really sad to see how such a great game got completely annihilated (no pun intended) by Crapsoft. Some will call us nostalgiatards, but I sincerely enjoyed Tibia far more back when it was a much tougher (but simpler also in certain regards) game.
@@dadada2898 it wasn't much tougher, it was jampacked with people so gaining exp was time consuming (Not to be confused with "hard"), a game like the old Tibia would die out in a matter of months if it were to continue or hit the market today. What made Tibia great back then was the community, not the game itself, not a single soul at that time knew what they were doing, everyone was exploring the game for the first time, many of the quests were a mistery and there was no "meta" game in anyone's mind..Because even if they wanted it, they didn't know how half of the game worked nor they had how to learn it other than word of mouth and experimenting themselves. I agree that Tibia is way more complex, less time consuming (Faster doesn't mean Easier), I hated imbues at first glance but they actually aren't that bad as a design (It stimulates hunting of monsters that were forgotten, creating an economy that lower level players can thrive on), weird quests always existed, microtransactions suck (REALLY, REALLY SUCK when it comes to xp boost, other cosmetic things I think are ok), new spells are actually a qol change in most cases. Tibia was an amazing experience, and still to this day I find myself coming back and accepting changes little by little. I don't have 10 hours a day to play, I can do what I need in 1-2 hours and then chill, or go on with life. It changed a lot, but so did we as individuals and as players.
@@ramirogrant When I said tougher, I generally meant that the climate of the game was tougher. It was more risky compared to today. That made the game fun, especially since I didn't like EXPing that much. To me Tibia was never that much about levelling up, it was about the great community and taking funny risks. To a large extent, Cipsoft killed that off. That lead me to stop playing the game. Things change, but I consider modern day tibia to be OT. Doesn't appeal to me at all. I was generally quite acceptant of changes. I think the hotkeys is a good thing and made the game a bit more fair. My favourite update was 8.0, it finally made knights better. But from 8.1 and beyond, things have only gone downwards imo.

Before 8.0, the damage formula for spells/runes took into account both your LVL and M-LVL. This meant that level 200+ players had a ridiculous damage output. That's why you see high level knights / paladins hunting with runes on older videos. With the new formulae, still valid today, your LVL is almost irrelevant when calculating spell/rune damage. Imagine how much damage these level 1000 guys would hit if we still had the old formulae! Like a 3000+ damage SD probably
@@RetroTibia Also, it depends, in today's formulae level seems to be irrelevant for low level players, considering 1 skill/ml equals to 10 character levels in terms of damage output. That means that high levels today have a huge damage boost just because of their level, using a mage for example: Level 1500 mage is equal to 150 Magic Levels, meaning that if they have ml 120, more than half of their damage actually comes from levels and not skill. An insight into the formulae would show that a level 1000 mage would need magic level 170 to hit as hard as the more leveled mage, because skills never really changed (Only the speed at which you can train them, but there's a considerable plateau once you reach a certain point) you would have a hard time increasing your damage trough skill alone, so at some point in the game's current state, Level as a damage booster actually becomes more powerful than skill itself, once again..

The damage of mages was insane however, meaning if you got a head start, getting far ahead of others was pretty easy.
