There's just no other experience like driving a muscle car with a meaty, howling V8. Recently went on vacation and rented a Dodge Charger Scat Pack Widebody while I was out. I have a long commute to work so I drive a very average Hyundai Sonata lol. So to get behind the wheel of a muscle car for once really made the trip 1000x better. I'm personally not a huge fan of Camaros, but the ZL1 absolutely demands respect.

I'm not much into Camaros, or loud cars, but the two car seats in the back made me give me instant respect. The owner is raising two future car enthusiasts, and I have nothing bad to say about that.
The sound coming out of this thing just make every other car want to run away, it sounds so mean it's crazy! Also the sound of the supercharger makes the things this thing sound even more aggressive.
I still think the Gt500 sounds better, but yes this is still nasty.

Ok that has to be the best bad ass gnarly exhaust I've heard on a Camaro yet! The pops, bangs and the supercharger whine makes it sound even better!
Absolutely love the ZL1 with a 6 speed. Sounds amazing, interior is actually really nice and is a huge step up from the 5th gen camaros, and overall the car is just a blast to drive.
if you've driven one, I'm curious: how's the visibility? I've always heard people say that's one of the cars downfalls, but I haven't gotten behind the wheel of one yet
@@FocusedTrades you can check my channel for a zl1 1le 6 speed manual review. Visibility is trash. That's why ppl compare visibility to the camaro, to show how bad it is in comparison.
With the backup camera, good use of your mirrors, and sheer speed (incase you don't see something and need to speed up/brake to avoid), it is very liveable.
@@FocusedTrades I'm 5'6'' so I'm a pretty short guy. The visibility is definitely limited, but when you're as short as me, you can get used to it fairly quick. It can be a challenge to get out of certain parking spots sometimes
5th gen had waaaaay better interior. The gauges were super cool looking.
this has got to be the most capable bang for your buck vehicle on the market right now and its not even close. where else can you get 650 v8 supercharged horsepower in a frame that is very track friendly and purpose built with track in mind FOR 65K??!?!? this has to be at the top of the list. ive always been so amazed at how forgotton about or underratted the camaro zl1 has been even going back to 2014 or whenever it was released. hardly anyone talks about it. i think its becuase of the "camaro" title which automatically pushes a certain group of people away. i cant deny im one of those people for sure im not a camaro fan at all, except for the ss and zl1. this car has always been absolutely mental and best bang for buck car ever since 2014

I love those kids seats in the back! Both my kids are in a perpetual state of “dad go fast!!” Luckily my six speed SS can accommodate their needs, 😂

It's terribly tight
as a car guy, I've owned a couple of cars ranging from a srt8 challenger, abarth, c63, rx8 R3, Mazdaspeed 6, and the list goes on. But nothing prepared me for the painful release of my daily driver as the pandemic dawn on me with my first child on the way. Jumping back on the saddle and looking for cars has me in a dilemma, as i have already been given the stink eye by my wife to not purchase a second car that is a 2-seater... which kinda makes you think the same for a 2-door... BUT 1:51 has given me so much hope. Thank you. Like, seeing that literally made my day. I will smile for the rest of the week knowing that not all is lost and there hope lol

Nothing can rival the sound of a V8! Does remind me somewhat of a 2012 Subaru STI that I had installed turbo back exhaust and intake. Was fun but always was worried about getting hassled by law enforcement with the ridiculous sound restrictions we have in California.

I recently acquired a Chevy SS manual. I hope to supercharge it someday. Awesome car and you drive a stick shift car like I do... none of that neutral gearshift wiggle while the car is moving. Up through the gears and down through the gears, the way it should be.
I’m not even mad that RUclips gave me a double ad after you came to a stop at the stoplight, with amazing sounding downshifts at 6:15! 😍🤤

Awesome to see Que's ZL1 back on the channel.... Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeshhh that ZL1 is amazing and the exhaust is perfection. I did have a question for Que if he sees this. Have you considered a catch can by any chance? I can tell you I have one on my 2SS 1LE and it seems to pick up a good amount of stuff every 6 months when I empty it out. Just something to consider because I'm sure the ZL1 would pick up more junk than my car. Amazing ride, was just curious if you had thought of a catch can yet. Awesome video Topher!

I’m sure it would be a ton of fun to have that amount of power under foot. And kudos to Chevy for offering a manual…..I just wonder how long I’d own it and grow weary of having this large and nearly 4,000 lb car. I’d also question how you’d enjoy this without obliterating the speed limit.
I suppose that last part goes for almost every sports and muscle car….
@@Chillymosquito muscle car, yes. Sports car, no ….. there are options that are 1,000 lbs or more lighter. They won’t have the enormous power this car has, but I guess it’s a question of what you’re looking for in an experience.

@@pHixiq some cars are fun only when you’re really going like a bat outta hell and others are fun in a broad range of circumstances. The latter tempt you to speed the former temp you to speed much more frequently. That’s, I guess, my point. Consider a couple of cars from my current and past ownership experience: 1. 1999 Miata 2. 1989 civic Si. 3. 2013 Boxster S. 4. 2022 civic si. 5. 1997 M3. 6. 2016 focus RS
Numbers 1, 2, and 5 were fun in almost every situation….two of those were slow, one was fast. The RS was really only fun when you were a hooligan. The others are somewhere in the middle.

You should definitely get a Manual ZL1/1LE and simply swap out the stock GY3R tires for street tires like PS4S. You will be a quite happy. It's the very best of the Alpha chassis. That being said - take it for what it is - it's a car that 'transmits' instead of gliding over the road.

I had a manual zl1 but it was recently stolen even though I was selling it I actually had a 19 ss 10 speed before for 1.5 years then my 2018 zl1 6 speed for almost 6 months and kinda got tired of v8 but I fell in love with the zl1 rev match 6 speed manual, I’m a German obsessed gt3 fan now so went from 750 hp 6 speed zl1 3900 lbs to my next shortly 991.1 gt3 3.8 F6 475 horse pdk only 3100~ lbs 9k rpm sounds absolutely insane

I've actually heard that it's not good to remove the big bathtub styled rear muffler when getting an exhaust because it prevents the parachute effect that that empty space will create while driving. so if u remove it to put in a new exhaust n travel high speeds, a parachute effect will occur - slowing down the car n making it harder to get faster

It’s honestly crazy how these LS engines backfire on stock tune and exhaust. I’ve got a 11’ SS w/manual and it backfired so consistently it’s crazy. I’ve learned how to control the backfires with the pedal too

We’re only what, an inch from his eye-level view on the GoPro/cam? I’m not sure how tall they sit but from my understanding it was a pretty clear view on front, side mirrors, and rear-view. What is all the bad talk about Camaros having bad view portrayal or whatever? Only curious as they’re the rival to a GT500 in my decision making.
