    Muy bueno. ¿Podrías explicar cómo utilizar la detección de los bordes para ponerlo en el canal de normales y así suavizar los bordes filosos de un objeto?

    I feel like baking the bevel mask and using it with quixel mixer would be better since it's more versatile for texturing than blender but still is free alternative to substance painter.
    Still this is valuable information

      I haven't really used Quixel mixer. Can you import a 3D model? I thought you could only work on a texture, like on a simple plane. And mix them. Nothing against Substance Painter by the way, I use it often. But the more I learn in Painter, the more I understand how to do textures in Blender. It's okay to use more than one app.

      @@BlenderSecrets u can import obj and fbx custom 3d models. It has support for multiple texture sets and UDIMs. It doesn't have a baker yet so u can't bake curvature and normal maps in it unlike substance painter and marmoset toolbag. It does have access to quixel megascan library and textures created in quixel mixer can be used for commercial purposes too.

      @@ltraltier6009 That is bullshit. There is nothing in Quixel Mixer that is locked behind a paywall. The software is fully functional and you can use it however you like even for commercial projects. They even give you 15+ GB of free smart materials (textures). The only thing that is not free is their Megascans library, unless you these assets in their Unreal Engine.
      Being salty about that is kinda pathetic actually.
      Even if you don't use UE, you can still fully profit from the features of Mixer as you can feed and use it with other PBR material libraries...

      @@RyoMassaki Quixel Mixer supports 3d asset texturing, it has most of the standard tools that Painter comes with, along with a ton of Smart Material presets. Mixer is very easy to learn, it's basically Photoshop but it supports 3d texturing as well. It has limited support for procedural workflow but it is there. There are some limitations and I find Substance Painter to run faster on my system than Mixer. The problem with Blender nowadays is lack of presets. Blender can do everything but you have to have more technical knowledge to build your own presets, effects or you have to resort to addons and custom libraries that may end up costing you more money than buying a premium software package.

    Is there an difference in using a normal noise texture over a white noise texture in this scenario?

    If I'm not mistaken, that grunge map was downloaded from AmbientCG. I didn't see any credit in the description, but I don't think they strictly require it. . .

    Selecting the edge by its angle would be perfect, in real life, concave edges are more likely to be damaged and convex edges instead are more likely to survive wearings and also to accumulate dust and dirt.
    It would be perfect to be able to select the edge with a process similar to the "edge split" modifire witch is based by the angle of the edge.

    • @BlenderSecrets
      @BlenderSecrets  2 года назад

      That would be part of fine-tuning the maps manually, I guess. You can always mix in another texture, and paint on it with some custom brush to add/remove more edge wear.

      This started with a map baked from a bevel modifier. And I think that the bevel modifier already limits it's effect by the edge angle.

    Can you please tell me what it is?

      You can cycle through render slots using "j" (ascending) or "alt + j" (descending).
