Note from 15:00 - to 15:21 also at 01:56 the large street boxes, utilities, the upright panels on the market , I painted all those as a volunteer, using donated paint. We check regular here and make passes through town cleaning up
Walsall has changed in some places, I grew up in my early years on the Alumwell Estate and now live near Reading. That Poundland used to be a cinema, I remember queuing up to see Batman with Michael Keaton in 1989 (I was 14 at the time). That area is so different now, quite shocking. Park Steet and the Digbeth bit still look very familiar. Very good video, a bit of a blast from the past, I feel a bit melancholy now, where have the years gone?
Town looking good, the knife angle on the Wharf square was a temporary exhibit that finished now, to highlight knife crime it's on tour - Slough till the end of January. I and other volunteers have worked hard to get the town clean and tidy. I have painted or clean off all the graffiti and tagging so now there is no visible graffiti as of Sat 20th Jan, you may have seen some on the red shutters bottom of the market, I cleaned those on Saturday. We have much to do but are committed to a tidy welcoming town, given how hard a time High streets are having across the UK
I wish you had stopped and given a bit of time to the Knife Angel. I have never seen it. The town used to be vibrant, lovely old buildings and businesses. It started going downhill with the building of the new bus station in my opinion. I don’t recognise it anymore and whose decision was it to pull down the Victorian railway station. The facade and booking hall were an asset to the town and I wonder what happened to the wrought iron gates. Councils make all these useless decisions and never ask how the public feel about it.
