Thank you for this video! I am planning on getting my first betta soon and have been doing a ton of research! I will definitely go for some silk plants, but not quite sure i have the confidence to tackle live plants yet.😊
I normally have a lot of trouble keeping aquatic plants alive, but my last betta tank I got really lucky somehow - I had bought a big ol' piece of driftwood with a large anubis tied to it, and that anubis is still doing great. There's another anubis in the tank that I had tried to plant in the substrate, but it kept working loose and floating at the surface, so eventually I let it just float at the surface and it also is doing great. I had a couple java ferns that lasted a long time, but eventually just kind of... vanished. I do have ramshorns in that tank, so I have to guess they eventually got to it. But the anubis is still doing just great. Normally I avoid anubis as it tends to vanish faster than the java ferns do, but for some reason my betta tank has proven ideal for them somehow. But I end up using a lot of silk plants as well. Even in a tank with live plants, I mix in some silk plants. Particularly if the filter flow might be hitting the water a bit harder than I like, I'll put plants underneath the filter to break that up that filter flow a bit. Probably not something you want to use most live plants to do, but silk plants don't care.
@@sststr lots of time plants like anubias and Java fern do best without buried roots! Sounds like you have them in the ideal places. They also do best in tanks with more nitrates in the water, as they feed on it.
All of my bettas have floating logs that they enjoy resting in and swimming through. I also have leaf hammocks and the Indian almond leaf hammock I made from watching your video. Thank you for your help.
Love this video! I am getting ready to set up a betta tank. I currently have a 75 gallon but wanting to downsize. I love Betta's! Do you happen to know if Betta's do well with co2 on a tank?
WOW!!! I have a full shopping list now to improve my tank ❤ Ps: Have you seem the videos I posted? Just added some live plants today 🎉
@@AriesFires no I’ll go check it out!
