Thank you for addressing the correct usage of the ducal title. Every time I see the Harkles advertising their titles as Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, I groan. Archie's birth certificate is not sealed and was widely published after his birth. Birth registrations are in the public domain and that is why the media had access to Archie's record.

The said published birth certificate is incomplete. No doctors and witnesses sincomplete are present and the name of the parents don't show up listed with their names given at birth. So, yes, the REAL birth certifiate needs to be released.

Parliament has granted the monarch the ability to issue titles. Likewise there should be a law to give the same right to remove them but this bill failed after the first reading. There are more bills presented to parliament than they ever have time to process. There are 14 stages to a bill becoming law, where the King then issues a Letters Patent to declare the new law, the Kings part is stage 14.

Getting your head around titles is confusing but it's fun and a good way to carry out historical research. Brits have been following the RF for generations. We are often able to see and understand the subtleties being played out. It's like a huge puzzle that we have to unpick. Taking into consideration their rank and blood relationships is very important. Looking at their jewellery is also interesting, who gets to wear particular jewels has huge significance.

"The stripping of titles" is really moot now anyway. The whole world detests them as a couple, and 'THE Duchess of Sussex' has become a pathetic, despicable joke. Let's face it - there will be no more multimillion-dollar corporate deals that will matter, nor invitations to the A-list events, nor parlays into political circles, certainly not now. Sure Meghan could continue to pull rank on the little people for a while longer, but she will eventually collapse into oblivion with her title - in fact, I think she already has. Harry will remain a Prince, and for as long as Charles is King, it will matter a little, but not enough to warrant his return to royal public life nor to facilitate warm reunions with the who's who in upper crust British society. Do the Letters Patent have any rules regarding usage of first or middle names in royal titles? I would have thought that, since Meghan’s first name is actually Rachel, any of her titles to include a personal name would would have used Rachel.
She doesn't have/hold any titles in her own right but uses her husband's as a formal courtesy only. James Paul McCartney was knighted, thus becoming a "Sir" but he's still referred to as Sir Paul McCartney in media rather than "Sir James Paul." So, the use of a middle name rather than the first doesn't really matter as long as one recognisable name is used.
She is referred to as "Rachel Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex" on one of Archie's birth certificates, though I can't remember which one, so I suspect on formal paperwork they go with both for clarity's sake but in informal usage it's just Meghan.
@catherineginn3232 a very interesting point. I personally have 2 Letters Patent and they're signed by the reigning monarch, recorded, and stamped with the monarchs seal. I get to keep my titles no matter what. I would only lose it if the signing monarch revokes it and it gets recorded.

One can certainly see how far down the pecking order Harry had fallen during the coronation. Three rows back behind Princess Anne, Prince Edward, Duke of Gloucester and Duke of Kent. Once an individual qualifies by birth, that's it. The Succession to the Crown Act was amended in 2013 so that those in the first 6 places would no longer be disqualified if they married without the permission of the monarch or if they married a Catholic. And females would no longer be displaced by younger male relatives. However, if an individual becomes heir apparent and is considered by Parliament as unacceptable (in very exceptional circumstances), Parliament can choose another individual in the line of succession at the point that the heir is to become monarch. Remember that William of Orange was invited by Parliament to become monarch as the alternative Catholic heir was deemed unacceptable. As Harry is currently number 5 in line, he's only going to slip down the LoS as George, Charlotte and Louis have their own children.
It isnt taking the titles to demote them. it is so there can be no doubt they are not representing the UK, the Monarchy or the Govt. I hope when the truth about how he lied about the kids will see him removed from the LOS for committing fraud
I believe the Prince of Wales was the equivalent of the King of England before Wales was conquered by England. After the conquest the first crown prince of England was born in Wales, the heavily pregnant queen being forced to make the journey. The child and all subsequent Prince's of Wales are taught Welsh and the earlier Prince's were educated in Wales and governed the country prior to becoming King of England. It was a method to subjugate the unrully Welsh.

She would still lose it. It’s not her title - it’s her husband’s so if he returns it or it is stripped from him, she will lose it too.

I always thought her breaking of royal protocol was a very deliberate middle finger on the part of Harry and Meghan to the royal family. The self satisfied, smug smirk on his face as she carried out these acts said it all.

Getting your head around titles is confusing but it's fun and a good way to carry out historical research. Brits have been following the RF for generations. We are often able to see and understand the subtleties being played out. It's like a huge puzzle that we have to unpick. Taking into consideration their rank and blood relationships is very important. Looking at their jewellery is also interesting, who gets to wear particular jewels has huge significance.

"The stripping of titles" is really moot now anyway. The whole world detests them as a couple, and 'THE Duchess of Sussex' has become a pathetic, despicable joke.
Let's face it - there will be no more multimillion-dollar corporate deals that will matter, nor invitations to the A-list events, nor parlays into political circles, certainly not now.
Sure Meghan could continue to pull rank on the little people for a while longer, but she will eventually collapse into oblivion with her title - in fact, I think she already has.
Harry will remain a Prince, and for as long as Charles is King, it will matter a little, but not enough to warrant his return to royal public life nor to facilitate warm reunions with the who's who in upper crust British society. When William is King, Harry will be Just Harry somewhere perhaps in Africa.

Do the Letters Patent have any rules regarding usage of first or middle names in royal titles? I would have thought that, since Meghan’s first name is actually Rachel, any of her titles to include a personal name would would have used Rachel.

Don’t think so, because they use Harry instead of Henry. On official papers it’s probably Henry.
She doesn't have/hold any titles in her own right but uses her husband's as a formal courtesy only.
James Paul McCartney was knighted, thus becoming a "Sir" but he's still referred to as Sir Paul McCartney in media rather than "Sir James Paul."
So, the use of a middle name rather than the first doesn't really matter as long as one recognisable name is used.
She is referred to as "Rachel Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex" on one of Archie's birth certificates, though I can't remember which one, so I suspect on formal paperwork they go with both for clarity's sake but in informal usage it's just Meghan.
@catherineginn3232 a very interesting point. I personally have 2 Letters Patent and they're signed by the reigning monarch, recorded, and stamped with the monarchs seal. I get to keep my titles no matter what. I would only lose it if the signing monarch revokes it and it gets recorded.

One can certainly see how far down the pecking order Harry had fallen during the coronation. Three rows back behind Princess Anne, Prince Edward, Duke of Gloucester and Duke of Kent. He sat in the same row as Prince Andrew and the York sisters. To add insult to his pride, the red feather blocked his view.

What's the process of removing people from the line of succession?
Once an individual qualifies by birth, that's it. The Succession to the Crown Act was amended in 2013 so that those in the first 6 places would no longer be disqualified if they married without the permission of the monarch or if they married a Catholic. And females would no longer be displaced by younger male relatives. However, if an individual becomes heir apparent and is considered by Parliament as unacceptable (in very exceptional circumstances), Parliament can choose another individual in the line of succession at the point that the heir is to become monarch. Remember that William of Orange was invited by Parliament to become monarch as the alternative Catholic heir was deemed unacceptable. As Harry is currently number 5 in line, he's only going to slip down the LoS as George, Charlotte and Louis have their own children.

I believe the Prince of Wales was the equivalent of the King of England before Wales was conquered by England. After the conquest the first crown prince of England was born in Wales, the heavily pregnant queen being forced to make the journey. The child and all subsequent Prince's of Wales are taught Welsh and the earlier Prince's were educated in Wales and governed the country prior to becoming King of England. It was a method to subjugate the unrully Welsh.

Polite correction for Pluto ... after Brexit the United Kingdom is STILL in Europe - that of course can never change because the country is geographically part of the European continent. However, after Brexit the United Kingdom DID leave the EU - a political entity which didn't even exist before the 1950s. The EU and Europe are NOT the same thing at all 🤨😉
And in 1972 we voted to be in a Common Market, not to be ruled by Brussels.

There was a Prince in WW1 that had his Royal titles removed because he was German. But I think the Prince one was removed as well. I don’t know if Harry could have his Prince title removed by letters patent.
Two princes and a princess, actually- at the time the King requested parliament to remove them and they did
But that was in a time of war and the individuals were enemies of the state because of their allegiance to the foe.
@@patshartigan5100 Yes they were seen as treasonous. Just like Harry. He is suing the Monarchy, via the Home office, for security and revealing Palace emails and documents. He has lied and lied. And his deliberate lying to the late Queen about his surrogate children, who are now in Line of Succession, by illegitimate means, shows him to be a treacherous coward and a bully. He has put KC and the Monarchy in a very difficult position. If Prince William brings it all out in the public, with the current unrest in UK, it is likely to bring them all down.

Totally agree it would not really matter to remove their titles. Meme is going to do what she wants be damn the rules. And I agree they have diminished their titles by their actions. Whether the “media” presents either or both of them as “good” the public knows and can see their games and think they are ridiculous. And as for the titles and living here in the US-they just don’t matter here-we took care of that a long time ago.
I think it matters. Even Americans are bowing to them because of the titles. They scream they dismissed their blue blood titles long time ago and than they curtesy to D-list actress and feeds her with Awards for lies and accusations agaist RF. 😢
