Thanks! I really appreciate the compliment. I'm still learning the ropes about train video even though I've been doing it off and on since 1983. There are a lot of great train videos on youtube. I could watch for days and never see them all. Your videos look really good, too. Keep them coming!
Thank you! I wish I had a lot more time to spend there that day. We were on vacation and Chicago was waiting for us. That was fun, too because I got to railfan on the Metra!
Went there for the fist time today. I rode the Lakeshore Limited out from Albany and rented a car to drive out to Rochelle. I saw lots of trains but not as many BNSF because of flooding in South Dakota or something like that.
I think it's similar to Rochelle, but the viewing stand at Rochelle has tracks on both sides serving two different railroads, BNSF and UP. They cross each other near the viewing platform.
Those 70M's horn are loud and annoying. BNSF 731's horn was abosulty wonderful. It had a horn transplant from a former ATSF warbonnet. Don't get to hear that great type of horn anymore. Great Video.
Great video! Seriously trains and blood is all that runs through my veins man! I live right next to CPR railway and love it!!! Sure the odd trains will go by at a sleeping time but oh hell it's to protect peoples lives for goodness sakes, plus everyone in our rural town likes trains. Is Rochelle like Folkston, Georgia??? I have been to Folkston just not Rochelle
I probably wouldn't be able to sleep at night because of the noise. Sometimes I wish I lived right beside Norfolk Southern's main line, but I know I'd be chronically sleep-deprived.
I live 2 blocks from the UP Geneva sub in Dekalb and I was pissed that they made Dekalb a quiet zone. Wayside horns suck. I don`t see how anyone can complain that they live near Railroad tracks anyways, hell they have been here since before my great grandparents were born and our little towns wouldnt still be here w/o them.
Your very correct, I think people should expect the fact that horns are for safety purposses too. When I moved near the train tracks I was delighted that they honked the horns! Not like some dufus who moves near the tracks and hates trains
What was up with the emergency siren thingy????? That was some fine video you god of rochelle!;o) Was there a slow order due to the track crews on the tracks?????? Have a Good Day;o)-BRYAN
Trains Blow their horns for a reason, its standard procedure to sound the Horn when approaching grade crossing crossings even at night, some people can't get that through their brains,

I live in the Quad Cities and drive through Rochelle to get to Chicago. I always stop here to trainwatch..usually on my way home. It is a great place!

Another place I'd love to visit.
Many of us would love to live at the tracks.
Awesome, i will have to check that out! Great video!
I'd love to go back up there again.
I love this place.

Yeah. I would really like to go back again but it's a long way from where I am. Folkston, GA would be a lot closer for me I think.
It was fun. Wish I didn't live so far away from there.
The siren is used to alert MOW that a train is approaching and there was a slow order due to MOW.

I rode thru that yard on UP it was crazy
OMG YES! ATSF 731, NOW THATS A HORN!

nice video!
Yes it is. It's a warning to the maintenance crew to get off the tracks.
Yeah, that's the same horn heard in "The Great Texas Train Chase" video I posted.

Thanks! You live in Israel? Man, that's a long way from where I am.
That is the spur off of BNSF into the Del Monte Plant.
Sounds cool. Did you buy that in Rochelle? I gotta check that out next time I'm out there.
That was the year I was born the year 2005
And Folkston has CSX.
I moved to Rochelle, right next to the tracks, F U C K I N L O V E I T.
That's my wife.
Is the siren automatically or manually set?
Is that siren warning of a train?
By driving a car for like 14 hours.
