Niiice!!! Looked at that thing fir a minute now..tgx 4 reviewing it Mayne! Btw Sean.. Best place to buy tools to work on guitars as YOY..my friend have me all FireD uP to start working on my own setups!! Thx in advance brother!! 🙏
Great job. Enjoy watching you fix up cheap guitars. Since i started watching your channel i learned alot. I work on my own stuff now. Not scared anymore . Im now Scarred. ❤
Indio was made by Monoprice, they make some really good stuff for the money! They make an amplifier called stage right tube 15 they make other ones too, which are very good amplifiers. I have one been playing it for about 7 years !
That is a really good starting point. I really enjoy having the opportunity to listen and learn. Some things I can’t do myself. But I have a good friend who can help me get the job done. I still try to do all I can myself. And I just can’t thank yall enough for giving me the confidence since I lost 85% of my vision. I am grateful for the opportunity. I can’t wait to hear that Silvertone with Almico 5 Humbuckers in it. It sounds so watery compared to my old Single Humbucker Strat. That thing had a bite. All Fender and no ceramic or junk hardware. I really am looking forward to this DIY. I have built a lot of race motors that cleaned house. Since I can’t drive anymore I have been depressed. But now I have guitars and the best teachers in the world!
I’m with on that brother, my blindness is not as advanced as yours but it’s getting worse very quickly, I get injections monthly but it’s not helping much. I’m very happy to have found this channel because maybe I’ll be able to learn enough to build a few for my grandsons. I’ve been blessed with 2 players out of my 5 grandkids bi don’t have the kind of money to buy them high end guitars, but I think I can build them a couple that sounds like high end guitars, or that’s the goal I’ve set. Praying that science somehow makes progress on stopping blindness 👃😎
I picked up one of the Indeo SSS Strat style guitars from Monoprice a couple of years ago when it was on sale for $79 and free shipping. Absolutely hate the headstock, but the rest of the guitar is fine. I still need to do some more fret work on it when I get the time. I picked up some of the tools via your description area, just haven't taken the time to get around to it yet.
I love these type of videos Sean and Cathy. You’ll be at 40k subs in no time. Keep up the great channel and hope all your hard work pays off.😊 Beautiful guitar and wow I love the sound of it.😊
I have been playing this same guitar in white for almost a year. I have to say that I got lucky- my frets were shiny and nice when I received it. I thought I would change out the pickups, but honestly it’s the best sounding set of ceramics I have heard in a long time. The bridge humbucker has way more gain than the single coils and that keeps me reaching for the volume knob, but otherwise I truly love this guitar. I bought a Firefly Jazzmaster copy at the same time. It has jazzmaster style single coils and looks great, but just doesn’t play as well as the Indio. I have two other Indio guitars - both are the Cali Classic Strat, and I have heavily modified them, but they are great playing guitars and tremendous value for the $$$
I bought an Indio Strat for my grandson in 2019 and was very impressed. Beautiful sunburst over a flame maple top, probably a veneer, but still very attractive. It has a Wilkinson 2 point floating trem, and Wilkinson pickups on a white pearloid pick guard. A very nice looking guitar and plays great, for 179.00 delivered. I bought it for him after buying the Stage Right 15 watt tube amp for myself and being very impressed with it, also 179.00 delivered.
Sean, I subscribed today. I first saw a video of yours analyzing a guitar from the inside out. Awesome. And you can make a guitar sing. It's just fun finding an unpretentious great RUclipsr like you analyzing and playing guitars. Best Wishes and Thanks, Richard
Love your folksy style. I bought the Indio strat a couple years ago. I have a dozen guitars. But I play the Indio more than several others. Stock pups too!😊
Thank you for teaching me something in this video. I was not aware that this body style was called an "Offset" body. I know it looks great and also sounds fantastic!
Love your channel. I was wondering if you could do a video one day of just luthier tools you use and where you buy them to get a good deal. Maybe tell me/ other viewers of what luthier tools someone needs to be able to build a guitar/ guitar kit.
i love offsets, and I don't mind the hawkbill headstock a bit. The sunburst on that Indio is first-rate! I feel that once they had perfected the three phase sunburst, research into guitar finishes could have stopped right there. But you know, as soon as you feature an inexpensive guitar on your show, they'll be sold out.
Thanks Sean. I bought a LP Special with P90s from Guitarfetish. It had copper frets that came green. I polished them and it played okay but I wore the frets out in about six months.
How best to reduce the weight on that body? Take a router to it? Maybe a future video? I thought you were gonna get creative with that headstock too. Thanks for another great video Sean, here in Ireland your Dukes of Hazzard accent is cool as f...
I love the headstock too. Espically on the tele I have. It came set up with the lowest action I have ever seen on a guitar. I have 9 guitars including a Jackson, fender and epiphone. My indio is my best set up/best playing guitar to this day. The only problem is the softness of the fret material. They wear very quickly.
he is the proof of learning how to adjust guitars and electrics from Indio or IYV are what you need to start with ... There is little to be done and they are pretty good and cheap electric guitars.
I have one. it's not bad at all. I had a pro go over the frets for me. Mine had pretty bad fret sprout. I'll prolly pop a "cool rails" in the neck eventually, 'cuz that's how I roll. To me, a bolt on is a bolt on, pretty much. By the time I'm done getting it the way I like it, I might end up with about $300 total into it. I'm really happy with that. It'll be about as good as any other bolt on with a regular tremolo at that point.
this happened to me with a Donner. off amazon. I got the replacement and ups threw it against the top of the wedge the replacement was fine after all that headache. I got it it was fine but the fret sprout was fish love the vids. thanks as usual Don't you touch my scarred guita!!
Another great video Sean, great guitar ,not keen on swimming bath pickup route ,although i saw a walk round Fender there was a lot of unfinished bodies wi swimmming bath routes in the Corona factory ,keep up the great work
I'm a strat fan myself but always thought they could have toned down the bulbous end don't mind the hawk nose yet they could all do with a bit of refinement imho.
Hey Sean Rambo! now that’s a knife!!! I recently bought a Carvin CT3 in excellent condition I was told, but something’s wrong with it. It only sounds Good in C standard or drop B, and they forgot to give Me a case. I haven’t spent money Like this on a guitar in a LONG TIME! Well, maybe You could help Me Scar it right! Thank You, I Love Your Content, and Your passion and knowledge for the craft!
I plan to put a roller GBE tree on mine, but I don’t know the angle right now. I had an intonation problem with G that came and went, now I think I understand, have you ever have to tree the GBE together? Anyway. My Silvertone is heavy plywood, and I am no tenderfoot, I used to carry railroad ties landscaping. But it’s heavy. And it has a rout just like that one. I am hoping to fit a set of H H and switch gear in a HH Strat pickguard. I want to wait and get a pair of good quality wound ones from Mrs Cathy, I am dumb about the switchgear, but I l go simple. I just loved that White HH Temu you did. I’m hooked! Yall are great!
I heard someone on another channel call that fretboard wood (tech wood) it’s a couple different kinds of wood ground up a mixed with some kind of glue of some kind ,now I’m not 100% sure that’s what that is but it’s supposed to be cheaper than real wood.
I have actually found something I disagree with you on Sean.... I actually like that headstock shape. It's unique. And you're correct, it does kinda look like a hawk / eagle head.
I agree with you buddy that hawk bill doesn't look bad I've seen a whole lot worse you could easily round it off but I kind of like it could definitely live with it think I'm going to order one 👍
How would yougo about fixin' the weight problem? Router out the body from the back and glue in a thin wood patch pannel and paint the back black to hide your work, ..make it like a stealth hollowbody thinline without the f hole, ..(?)
Suprised you didnt sand the headstock beak, rounded But wow you did good like usual Another guitar you worked on i couldnt afford, new or Scarred. Like what you do.
Hey buddy,I almostbought that one today but I got the leo jayms tell honey burst, today I'll let you no what happens to me with that,it got good reviews
Well Sean, that headstock kinda reminds me of da "Schnozz", Jimmy Durante! That's ok, 'cause once you got those frets squared away, the tone and looks wont hold ya back! "Ha-cha-cha-cha" ! Damn, I'm old...
What is the radius on the neck? I noticed 7.25s are getting rare, 9.5-12 seems more common these days. Even Compound ones. The Silvertone cleans up good but the frets still want to tinge green, any chemical that you recommend? I want to do mine. I wish Almico HHs were more common. Thanks for all your help.
Hate to see a slick sunburst finish when it's obviously a two, or at worse, a three piece body. Bought a SB Squire recently that looks like a one piece what a difference. Rare find!
Sean, aside from ugliest ever headstock shape and nasty frets. Your fretwork and alignment/setup/overhaul of those GREEN frets has turned that guitar into a masterpiece set up guitar, that plays and sounds great. I can't wait to see what your going to do with that awful ugly headstock. Great video Sean and thanks Cathy for all you do for this channel. 73 GOD bless, Earnest K5EWM.
When I recorded a few CD's, the producer said he was a glorified turd polisher. That's what you are sometimes too - but I love your polishing....and your style LOL.
As I recall, Indio doesn’t quality check their lower cost guitars. They just throw it in an Indio box and move it out. Their upmarket models are *supposed* to be a different story. That said their entire line is attractively priced.
I don't blame you for not wanting to fix the headstock on a $129 guitar that's still under both a warranty and an Amazon guarantee, even before you factor in that you don't like the way it looks. There's just no point. (I personally like it, but even I would've sent it back for a broken headstock.)
I think the technical definition is a guitar body where the "waist" is asymmetrical (so a line through the narrowest part of the body would be basically straight across on a symmetrical one, so asymmetrical would be at an angle). So in practice that's Jazzmasters, Jaguars, Mustangs and Meteoras. But by that definition that would include the Mosrite Venture and some people will put Firebirds and RD's in that category (although I think most people mean the Fender body styles when they say "offset"). Edited to clarify the asymmetrical bit (I didn't word that well before).
Why do they ship guitars in such crappy boxes?! Gonna cost more in broken guitars getting returned than investing in decent boxes, lol. Seems backwards! Wow, those frets are greeeeeeeeeen!! It’s a cool guitar, minus the beak! 😂😂😂
This is another reason why I hate being lefthanded. Most of these cool, cheap Amazon guitars don't exist in lefthanded models. If there are 20 models, 1 might be offered in a lefty version. If I was righthanded, I would be tempted to sell my Gibsons and buy a bunch of imports. I used to say that I'd rather have 3 really good guitars than 10 cheaper or imports. Now I'm starting to think the other way. But being leflthanded kind of screws that up. hehe.
I have a Monoprice Indio Strat copy. Wasn't a fan of that headstock either. Sent you a pic of what I did to mine. Check your email. Rock on, brother! 🤘

Great job. Enjoy watching you fix up cheap guitars. Since i started watching your channel i learned alot. I work on my own stuff now. Not scared anymore . Im now Scarred. ❤

Sounds sooo much better after you Scarred it!!

My Silvertone had green frets too and you have to stay after them.
Sean, have you ever considered doing a review on a Tease guitar? From what I've seen, they seem pretty good and it would be nice to know your opinion.
Hey Bro! Good to see you! I still have high cholesterol. They already raised the price, lol. i don't like green frets and ham.
As Always Have a Good Evening Sean, Cathy, & Everyone Scarred ...

Thanks ✌
I’m tempted to buy one for the gig bag alone and give the guitar to a youngster that needs one.

Fair enough

Wish I new how thick the neck is I hate fat necks but for that price can change the neck that's what I would of done with broke one
I’m with ya. I like the bird beak looking headstock too.
Yes like it myself looks better than on the P.R.S silver sky strat copylol
A lot of companies use that shape as it’s kind of generic.
How would yougo about fixin' the weight problem? Router out the body from the back and glue in a thin wood patch pannel and paint the back black to hide your work, ..make it like a stealth hollowbody thinline without the f hole, ..(?)
Green metal reveals a high copper content. Soft.
As a machinist, I agree 👍
Indio are nice for the money. Best choices are good to
I kinda like the hook on that headstock.
It is right on!
Suprised you didnt sand the headstock beak, rounded
But wow you did good like usual
Another guitar you worked on i couldnt afford, new or Scarred.
Like what you do.
Why do you go lower on last four frets
Bridge is the best cheap humbucker I've heard on your channel..
Doesn't need anything more. Sounds great.
Hey buddy,I almostbought that one today but I got the leo jayms tell honey burst, today I'll let you no what happens to me with that,it got good reviews
Love your auto file tool! Is that a jigsaw? Did you have to modify the handle of the file to get it to fit? 😎👍🎸
Maybe you could try doing a headless conversion job on it! \m/
The "Sean approved" box opener
Thx Sean..great work.
Great show, interesting guitar
Thanks!
NOW HANG ON JUST A DANG MINUTE!!!!
Sean.... You didn't even ❤️ My comment!
Please do! 😅
Much love from Scotland, Dude! 😎🤘🇺🇸🏴
Can I get tip on how to fix wiring for a volume pot? I tried for hours
Well Sean, that headstock kinda reminds me of da "Schnozz", Jimmy Durante! That's ok, 'cause once you got those frets squared away, the tone and looks wont hold ya back! "Ha-cha-cha-cha" ! Damn, I'm old...
Loved Jimmy in it's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World. "Did you see that? He just sailed right on out there" 😂
39k subscribers! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I had a question as to how you made your one hand file tool for the frets that you used.
Yeh. I don't mind the "Buzzard beak" buy a crow black indio and call it the Carrion
Reverse Firebird headstock's Cool, ..what chew Talkin' bout Willis?
That looks like the Grote lp guitar I received from Amazon. Broken head stock but the box was in perfect shape. Man I was pissed 😤
Do you recommend this for a first electric guitar? Do you did something to the HB pup?
What is the radius on the neck? I noticed 7.25s are getting rare, 9.5-12 seems more common these days. Even Compound ones. The Silvertone cleans up good but the frets still want to tinge green, any chemical that you recommend? I want to do mine. I wish Almico HHs were more common. Thanks for all your help.
Wish it were poplar - it would be lighter.
Think it's just heavy, non dried out basswood like my Indio tele.
have you ever worked on a peavey falcon? strat copy.
Hello I'm the winner of the guitar give away last night! I sent my information this morning! Let me know how to proceed from here! Thanks!
Very cool episode.
Do you sell any of those guitars ?
Hate to see a slick sunburst finish when it's obviously a two, or at worse, a three piece body. Bought a SB Squire recently that looks like a one piece what a difference. Rare find!
What's wrong with the headstock!
Sean, aside from ugliest ever headstock shape and nasty frets. I paid $128 for my iyv jazz box on sale
but I didn't get a gig bag with it so it looks like a bonus buy to me
The semi hollow body tacacco burst?
When I recorded a few CD's, the producer said he was a glorified turd polisher. That's what you are sometimes too - but I love your polishing....and your style LOL.
As I recall, Indio doesn’t quality check their lower cost guitars. They just throw it in an Indio box and move it out. Their upmarket models are *supposed* to be a different story. That said their entire line is attractively priced.
I think you just sold a bunch of these guitars! I’ve gotta get one, now!
I quite like the headstock. Pickups are cracking for the pricetag
I don't blame you for not wanting to fix the headstock on a $129 guitar that's still under both a warranty and an Amazon guarantee, even before you factor in that you don't like the way it looks. There's just no point. (I personally like it, but even I would've sent it back for a broken headstock.)
Do you sell guitars, if so how do we buy one. 😊
Where is Cathy's channel?
www.youtube.com/@ScarMyPickups
"Popular" means, liked by many people. "Poplar" is the type of wood. Yeah I know, I'm a bleedin' Grammar Nazi.
What actually denotes a body being “offset”? Ive never understood what that means.
Dude, sharpen that knife.
ok lol
I love them Popular guitar bodies.
You out censtar necks
It's funny, I paid $149 for an Epiphone acoustic guitar, on sale. In 1983.
Why do they ship guitars in such crappy boxes?! Gonna cost more in broken guitars getting returned than investing in decent boxes, lol. Seems backwards!
Wow, those frets are greeeeeeeeeen!!
It’s a cool guitar, minus the beak! 😂😂😂
I'll take it !
Not beat up too bad it's been wrapped at least 5 times.
Diamond guitars make some good rigs for a working man price.
What’s up Sean?! 🔥
Poplar not heavy not like maple or mahogany though mahog is kinda lite per species
I have a Monoprice Indio Strat copy. Wasn't a fan of that headstock either. Sent you a pic of what I did to mine. Check your email. Rock on, brother! 🤘
It even sounds awesome unplugged. For $150 and a little bit of work... why not?
Review a squier man.
I guarantee it punches far above the price point .
