Thank you for sharing this video Sifu. Take away from this video. 1. Be a obsessed learner. 2.Give importance for team, team management. 3.Always get protected from legal side.
i agree, especially from people who became miserable with poverty mentality, they treat themselves cheaply and so they will also treat you cheap, if they see something valuable from you like honesty (evidence you are a non-cheap person), they will teach you a lesson and try to bring you to their level (they're thinking "who does s/he think s/he is?"), as an unconscious attempt to justify their misery, they will even verbally deny they are justifying their misery, all they know is, they got insulted with your honesty, for them it feels like you are trying to distinguish yourself from them as someone better. as an honest person, i get this almost every week, its damn draining. as a government security official once said in a seminar i attended, trust AND verify. never lose your faith in humanity, still trust in the things being alleged to you, but it is also your automatic step 2 to always verify everything being said to you, if the allegation is a lie, then that's my permit to hunt down the liar and take him apart using his words. take that from someone who's paid to investigate legal problems.
*When it comes to money, it's hard to find an honest business partner. Thay can steal ur money buy they cannot take away your wisdom. So inspiring! Thank you so much DAN from Philippines🇵🇭*
I was very broke and I watched all your videos every single day, non stop, here I am having my own car, apartment, and bussiness to run. Your videos means everything to me, you helps me become like this I want to thank you , you are a great teacher
I got screwed by a partnership 10 years ago. Funny how this topic can apply to interpersonal partnership as well. I am just getting back on my feet. I have been solo ever since. I do value a community of like minded individuals, though, as long as they as willing to grow.
Thank you so much Dan. I randomly googled this topic today because I'm like your dad in my business relationship. My partner is putting in no effort. Committed he has falsley lead me along with. Cost me a lot of my valuable time, positive energy, my giving, knowledge and as soon as he gets home everything goes out the window. I hold my end of the business up and 100x more. I could write about it all day. I came here today to learn from my mistakes within this relationship and put another strong effort in staying the course. No matter the storm. I have vision, hunger and desire to succeed in what I see as successful. I'll keep on my path and continue to be ruthless with my work ethic, continue to self improve and cut away the toxic relationships. Because I no I'm gifted and I'm aware I'm a warrior. I guess some are just soft and unreliable. Super unfortunate.
Thank you for sharing Sifu. I got screwed 5 yrs ago. I had to shut down business and financially got ruined. I learned never to trust anyone when it comes to money. Doesn't matter how well I know someone or how trusting they are. In a blink of an eye people change.
Thanks for sharing your story Dan. I recently stepped away from 2 partnerships. Thankfully, we're doing our best to maintain a personal relationship. The first partnership, I learned the value of finding a partner who is ready to be a business owner. The second, I learned the importance of finding a collaborative partner. Just because your friends doesn't you work well together. After the first partnership, I learned the value of an entrepreneurial mindset in making a business succeed. Find someone who is ready to take on risk, is able to reinvest in the company (instead of taking their "salary"), understands pivoting, and has stepped away from the "employee mindset" (this isn't a 9-5 job). Running a business is 24/7. If you have an employee mindset, then you're unable to adapt, unavailable for clients, and unwilling to negotiate on "set pricing" to secure key clients and grow the business. Finally, despite being 50/50, I was letting him borrow money from the company to help him pay his mortgage and take care of his kids. That left us with nothing to pursue new business, and left me with a big fat hole in my pocket. He simply was not ready to take on the risk of owning a startup. This being my first partnership, I learned the value of partnering with an entrepreneur, and not an employee. The second partnership was with a few trusted friends. However, my ego clashed with another partner. We had 2 distinct visions for running the company, and constantly disagreed on strategy and execution. A company can't grow if it's being pulled in different directions. As much as we tried to see eye-to-eye, a startup needs its partners to be collaborative to succeed, otherwise your process will suffer, and as a consequence, so will your customer experience. I chose to step away knowing that the company would not grow if we were both a part of it. After this business, I learned the value of partnering with someone who has a complementary management style. The ability to share information and collaborate on activities is key for everyone to be on the same page to push the company forward. When you pivot, pivot together. When you're working on a project or prospect, circle back with the team, get their input, leverage their talents. Otherwise, what's the point of partnering up? Your words of wisdom ring true: be selective. Not everyone is ready to be an entrepreneur, and not everyone is willing to put their ego aside and collaborate. Today, I recently reopened my own digital marketing business, and will now be extra selective when choosing future partners. For now, I'll stick to co-marketing activities. You don't need a partner to succeed, unless your combined efforts, whether financially or strategically, can truly multiply your output and launch your business to the next level.
i did business with my Dad and he screwed me over. i have like 0 in my pocket and start working a logistics company. its hard but 1 day I will come over it.
Thank you Dan Lok. This is very relatable. I got betrayed by a fellow RUclipsr friend a while back and I was very hurt but I eventually got back up stronger than ever. I grew a thick skin and have become very resistant to pain. I have so much respect for Dan Lok
Wow. Great story/lesson. To put it as short as possible. My story is, not to point fingers. But☝️ when I was 20 years old, I had a passion for cars and motorcycles. So I started working on families and friends cars. From that, a high school friend offered me a partnership to turn what ever I was doing into a business, with him networking and advertising online. So I said ok! Let's do this. Might I add, we were both riding motorcycles back then. So 2 years later. With me being frustrated! Because I was doing.. not 99% or 90% but maybe about 85% of what he had said would be his part of the business. I was still working from home. Had spent my own money to turn my home garage into a auto garage. So again morning forward. One day I was behind on a job because I had to do a bunch of emails, run to the bank then go get parts and come back because I the customer was waiting on his motorcycle. Witch most of that should have been done by my "good friend" partner. So I had told the customer that I will get his motorcycle delivered. He lived about 3 miles away. I had told the partner to deliver the bike and make sure the costumer checks everything out and like all that is done.. 2 hours past the time he had said he would be here to deliver the bike, the customer calling saying he's in a rush. I decided to leave the work I was doing on another costumers car to deliver the bike my self, so trying to still call him on my Nextel flip phone and riding a motorcycle at the same time is not that easy. But called and called, no answer. So maybe I was speeding? I dont remember why.. but I had gotten into a life changing accident with that motorcycle. A 85 year old lady driving a SUV had made a left turn, cutting in front of me and I T Bond her SUV shattering my chin, jaw, humerus, all my ribs, collapsed both my lungs and worst of all, snapped my vertebrae from T7-T9 injuring my spinal cord. Now 15 years past, after spending a entire year in the hospital then a rehab center, I'm stuck on a wheelchair, being cared by my parents. I'm there only son also. So all that impacted them really hard. Instead of me taking care of them by now, I am 1000% dependent on my aging parents. Wow. Yea. Thanks for listening everyone lol. This was like a small therapy session
@@КоТэ-с2х yes I thank God everyday! I appreciate life now. And its frustrating that people around me no matter where I go, I see them complaining about the dumbest shit
Always admit your mistake which is a way of self growth. Not a lot of people can really do that, not to say in a situation like someone screwing you. But no matter what kind of situation you can always learn something no pain no gain!
I know that feeling, it just happened to me 10 minutes ago. Telling someone I give up on you just because they want to run the business their way is not ok. Is a way to discourage you to do more and better. What's funny is that I'm the people person of the business and bring in the buyers. Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you so much Dan Lok for your youtube channel. Early this year i had a partnership due to an event i was hosted to launch my brand, so at first we agreed on everything then my two partners came across another venue so they wanted us to change the venue because they believed where the one they chose is the location is perfect because the place is know for partying but the issue was we were a week away and people have already bought tickets to the initial venue so change of venue was gonna affect our ticket sales, i told you im not gonna change because when i pitched the idea they had no problem with the venue so 3 days before the event they decided to pull out and withdrew their investment and even gave away portion of the tickets for free so i was shocked the initial venue was packed they even came through too but the ticket sales didnt match the capacity. i continued with the event and even had to go cry to the owner of the venue that i dont have money to pay the venue but i know the event increased your sales, the guy understood and i even promised him to market the place fir him as a way of paying him back. what i have learned from this is that not everyone will believe in your vision so its best you become the number one fan of it and do anything possible to make it a reality
Glad you talk to about this and let all people who watching you know that the road of success is a difficult road with ups and downs. Congrats, Mr.Dan. Wish you all the best for the new day!
This not only applies to business but relationships with people aswell because it can be difficult to tell who to trust. It ends up becoming a trial and error but in the end if we learn from each error we become a stronger overall individual. I am nervous about starting partnerships because of risks like these. However, Dan Lok is teaching that it's still possible to bounce back and be the better person. Reminds me of one of those superheroes.
Wow! You really know how to communicate to the feelings of your audience. I love how you do what you do. I've had a partner take away my money like that. But I have faith that it's probably a prerequisite for my success. Thanks for this GREAT talk.
Wow thank you for being so vulnerable and sharing your story, Sifu. I don’t have a story of being screwed over in business, but I have been SERIOUSLY screwed over in relationships. They nearly ruined me financially and emotionally. But I took those opportunities and learned to be assertive, to trust my instincts, to be more aware and cautious, and above all else, to have the COURAGE to push through the challenge and come out STRONGER in the end. A better version of myself. And I use those lessons to help others not to make the same mistakes. But also not to allow those things to stand in their way of moving forward, being emotionally whole, happy, healthy, and able to trust.
OMG I am in tears right now Dan, u can’t imagine, this video comes on at very critical moment of my life right now, I am 23 and since last year I have been working with my best friend and her brother on a projet to develop a business, I have invested all my savings, all my money that I actually worked soo hard for years. The project is suppose to mature and to be put in place this month of August coming and this is about two weeks now all their numbers is not more passing, they are all gone I have looked for them everywhere no where to be found 😭😭 everything finished. During the first week I thought they were going to contact me back but still today nothing, I feel soo bad, for days now I have hard sleepless nights, I am stressed and I can’t event get out of the house, I cry all day long, I am mad about myself, asking myself question😞😞😞😞😞 it’s really DIFFICULT. Thank you Dan for your video and has just gave me some motivation and I hope I would be able to get over this and start something new
I have 2 business partners at the current moment and it's VERY CHALLENGING!!! Had I ask questions in the beginning I would have never entered a partnership with them. Never again!
I recently started a small business, and it was doing well, and I got screwed over too. Listening to your story is inspiring. It is HEARTBREAKING. I learned that, trust is not something to be given easily and friends (My business partner) no matter how long you've know them. Can't be trusted blindly. I definitely lost my trust in people. But I haven't lost hope and hope to start something again soon.
Hi Dan, I learned to trust my instincts and act quickly. When red flags where popping all around me I chose to ignore them and got myself into deeper crap with this guy. Also, I learned you need to truly understand the business partners motivations as to why they want to join you in the first place.
no matter what you guys . you will always come across greedy selfish people in life. but then you will also come across people who believe and want to be part of your vision. always keep your guard up the best you can. and keep moving forward
Wow! Loved this so much! I had it happen - don't depend on people - depend on systems, contracts and agreements in business as much as possible. Love you Dan. You are a real one.
Been through this many times, but have a hard time letting go of that anger but I can now because of this video. Thanks Dan. Your internal strength is admirable.
I have learned to not misplace my trust. I have learned to not hand over your responsibilities for important projects if even for a brief moment. I have learned what I want in a partnership. I have learned that I should always trust my instinkts about a situation. I have learned that if you focus on the money lost and the hurt.. You have missed the lesson that it was. This lesson will prepare me for a brighter future.
I only ever have myself or myself and my life partner as business partner. I will never ever go into business with an external person. NEVER. I've still been screwed over by dodgy clients and accountants but the business is safe and nothing they do can damage that as no one will ever have that level of control over me or my business. Thanks Dan this video helped so much
The first thing I say when someone screws me over I ask the universe to NOT let me hate. I'm getting more selective with whom I trust but I will never let these people make me bitter. I will not let them win by holding on to grudge or feelings of revenge. I wish them well knowing they will always be losers.
Thank you Dan. I remembered seeing this video and I'm hearing it again to get past the disappointment of losing a biz partner today. Thanks again for your sharing
Thank you for sharing Sifu. Like you I have watched my dad get screwed over emotionally by “friends”, yet he always keeps going. Like you, I promised to never allow that to happen to me. Turns out my own mum screwed me over. My best friend of 6years screwed me over. But you know what. I didn’t die. I was crushed. Devastated. But because of Resilience and the determination to keep going, I never give up. I learnt to protect myself, it was learning how to open up again that was the hardest part.
Yes...When I look at you now...You became your own hero, you put yourself in the place of those toys you are keeping them in that beautiful toy room and more than that you became your own master!...And this is the most beautiful story! Many people are not understanding that life is a real story and we need to challenge ourselves to become better and this is our only responsibility! To transform,to build,to survive...and you know what?❤️ goes around, comes around...You gave all your love for your business and you learned everything.Your journey continues in another hero from now in another country...You think you can stop??Even your father stopped,I think you continued his journey without to realise that a plan,a journey continues life after life, generation after generation!...Congratulations,Dan!
Thanks shifu, i got in debt by doing a partnership with my childhood friend. Few days after company formation i came to know he was already defaulter of bank loans and had to pay heavy outstanding, very same day i exit from the company and shut down all joint ventures, lost a million though, he was a childhood friend and he hide all this so he could survive his bankrupcy. Lesson learned no friends or relatives in business and check the financials before getting a partner.
Thank you for acknowledging the feelings. The anger, rage, disappointment. You were right on. Going through that right now. This really helped getting bacck up and reclaim my power in this. Let them be who they are, Im still who I am. Not the small, helpless, fool who got manipulated.
I was about deleting you and just listening to this just made me sit back with you. I salute your courage My life has been full of disappointments and am still healing day by day . I learnt never to depend on one but to always seeks for counsel from many people , never to trust one partner in short. I have to put myself at a level to see through people before they actualize their evil plans so I take precautions. That leaves me over working but keeps me safe.
I've been using RUclips since 2013 and this is the first time when I am going to comment/like any video. You're an awesome man! Thank you for sharing this. I really want to meet with you, but not today. Someday else, when I capable to buy a coffee for you from your favorite restaurant.
Dear Shifu, I just got screwed over by my business partner who was so called my friend and I had never thought of him less than a brother and two months ago he kicked me out of our business. Because as we were friends from last 6 years i had blind trust on him and never had a written agreement of business with him. He backstabbed me. I was emotionally and financially broken and it took me 1 month to just come over it. Yet here i am starting again from the scratch. Seeing your video's daily, hearing your podcasts, learning from you through what your words say and what you don't say. And Shifu it's because of you that I came closer to the reality and I decided to be a closer to it for ever now. The values, virtues and all the knowledge that I have learned from you are life changing. I here by promise you that in 1 year from today that is 25 July 2019 to 25 july 2020 i will be back in business with more stronger knowledge and skills. Thank you for being there for persons like us when we needed the one the most. Regards, Ravi Maru from India
dan dont leave us. 1 only learned 1% of you. and it helps a lot. i had bad meals too. beggar life. but im growing just like you and i feel the success growing despite 1 digit left lf my pocket sometimes when tragedy comes.
Honesty and humbleness are commendable virtues in life and raising strong children. Dan Lok, it’s comforting to view this testimony of your personal family history. 🌹
You lost and now you have won moving on. Go no contact with all the bad psychopaths. I wish you prosperity, wealth, and health. Watching your videos is teaching me how to succeed. Thank you very much.
I'm sure many people are trust worthy, and I'm proud of being one of them. 15 years in different businesses, never failed my partners or any other people in my life.
I've been there and I beat myself up too. What I learned was write everything down in a contract and spell out what each is expected to do. My trust was permanently affected.
Friend asked me how my interview went, I found out that someone else got the job and it happen to be a friend of the same guy who asked me. Luckily I got the job also so I didn’t lose out. But what I learnt is you can not trust people so easily, I was betrayed and felt hurt when I found out but I learnt to be careful about what I share and to move quietly, don’t tell people your next steps. Life happens and I agree it makes you stronger. Thanks for sharing your stories it helped me feel better.
This is the most emotional part of all the videos you made, Dan. I can relate. Similar situation happened with me for 10 years..it is like it had taken over my life. You spoke everything that I went through. Thanks for the encouragement. I'm ready to take a new path and move on. Yes, I learned so much from all these experience. I become obsess in learning, pre-qualifying people who would like to work with me, and I choose now who to work with and what I love to do.
what i learned from this video . that i need to move on when someone is your trusted betrayed yourself and learn from it. so when you met someone new that need to be trusted you gonna more knowing when they have same issue with the ex person that have been betrayed you and maybe not making same mistake again. thank again Sifu Dan to have share your story . Sifu Dan is the man !!!!
Dan. This one is compelling and inspiring. This video is probably one of your best because the story you are sharing is akin to many entrepreneurs. Kudos.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and what you've learned from them, Dan. I've been screwed over by people before, too. From business partners to people I've invested in, and companies I've invested in. What I've learned from these horrible experiences is to be wiser, more intelligent, less trusting, and also do better due diligence. I've also learned how to be better in many ways, starting with being more humble and appreciative of life's many blessings.
@@TheRosiebeam Hey man! I call him sifu, because I learned more dan than I did in my school or teachers about money, money management and philosophy of life (including midset). He has filled me with hope and energy in every single moment of my life, that I have started looking up to myself. These are my reasons, others may have different ones.
Not true it can leave you crippled for life. Get hit by a car breaks your pelvis and legs, you're not stronger, you're crippled. It's called honesty, not artificial optimism
Thank you for sharing. I created and built an urban fashion design company from the ground up. I trusted my partner implicitly however, I learned that they were sabotaging my reputation, claiming the company for themselves, and trying to have me put away for identity theft and corporate theft. That experience caused me to walk away from my passion and life's work with nothing to show. I learned to rebuild, restore, and protect myself with a solid foundation. I had lost my confidence and trust in others but I learned to pay attention to the red flags and the importance of all legal documentation. I don't think I would do another partnership anytime soon however I have gained discernment. I now know what I have within myself and what I should always be aware of in others. I will ensure I'm always protected and ensuring never to lose myself but build a great team whom supports and is driven to help me attain my goal of success.
Dan, I want to THANK YOU for taking the time to share and teaching me another valuable lesson in life . Every bad experience I’ve had in business has helped me to endure now . But you keep saying to continue to learn - not to stop learning . Thank you so much for being so genuine. I’m very grateful to you 👍❤️
Lovely speech. It was very profound and I recognise myself in it. The World is full of bad people with nasty behaviour. I’ve learned to be more strong and to believe more in myself.
Thanks for sharing Dan. My father had a partnership with a guy in a day trading business. It was my dad's relationships on the floor of the NYSE that made it possible. He tried to screw my father over, draining accounts and vanishing, but luckily my dad had anticipated this just observing how the guy's spending habits changed, and noting that he was having problems in his marriage. My father confronted him with two options, 1 he would go to the cops, or 2 the partner could sign over his piece of the business to my father. I'll bet you know which the partner chose. My father went on to have 10 more years of success before the NYSE changed the rules and day trading of that particular nature was no longer profitable. My take-away as a teenager observing this, always be one step ahead of the other guy. Ask yourself, if I was in his shoes, what would I do? Be prepared for all contingencies.
Been screwed by a business partner just recently. Left me with thousands of dollars in debt and now I feel crippled in starting a new business venture. I feel so afraid to try again and lose more. The only silver lining I can get from that experience was that I was the one who worked 99% in earning our revenues and I believe I can do it all over again if I muster my courage. I hope I can overcome this and start over again. Thanks for the inspirstion Dan.
"What you know can never be taken from you", i can always start again, i will always be there because it's my concept, my idea, my skills and my knowledge. That's the strength i currently have in my partnership despite usual human flaws.
The thing that is the best about this is that this is LIFE! It shows that LIFE is not going to give you a "Free Lunch". But, LIFE will keep moving on. You have to have the fight, hustle, and drive to move towards your "Most Successful Life".
What an honest video about business! I believe it happens to all business men and women. I had a bad business dealing with someone I trusted and let her run my business and she in turn took the entire business under my feet. It's a very long story, but it did teach me that I'm stronger than I thought I was. The past business lead me to a very profitable business that I have today. If I didn't experience it, this current business couldn't have happened! Thank GOD! Thanks Dan for being open and honest about your past dealings. I can definitely relate.
wow!!! who would have known that a great man such as you would have gone through such betrays? When I went through my share of experience I felt like dying, like drowning myself in tears, the relationship with my former business partner was toxic. Thank you for taking the courage to share your experience.
I teach people homeless, without father , without mothers , without money people , all my life . With 0 cost . One of them lose his father when he was 7 , his mother lived in hometown and he was working with me in town . Teach him how to sell and he get records and get first salesman in the shop . And brought his mother to town to live together all of his life , they will need no one again and live with his mom . Dear Dan , you of course do wonderful work but you remember tons of people are like us when we were young . I passed same road , noone understand if they didn’t walk same way . What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Thank you for sharing
Excellent motivation video! Thumbs up! Brings me back to my days! I learnt from a very early age not to trust people because I was betrayed by the ones closest to me. Not that they are business partners or anything like that, but I have always learnt to depend on myself since then. So I grew to distance myself from people in general. I don't know if I'll ever work with a team yet, but I'll let it happen when it happens. What can I say? I'm still learning. And besides, I've learnt that it takes a lot to be able to work with me. A feedback I often get from acquaintances I would once in a while brush shoulders with is that I am usually tough on them, but behind their backs, I am 100 times tougher on myself. And Dan Lok is right. Karma's a biotch! If you were the victim, you'll get your revenge either way. It's like inevitability. The only shame is that you probably can't be the one standing in front of him laughing at his sorry state.
Sifu , I'm so proud of you and I love everything that you're posting and putting on the internet. I was hoping to give you a big hug on CIB 2019, but I couldn't. Next year I'm going to be on the stage and make you proud of me being your student. Love you Sifu Dan
The first man you were talking about giving him your money and some food for a while. Not doing the work yourself relying on him to do it. Than he leaves. I can relate so much. Thanks for your insight.
Thank you Dan. Truly, there's no greater asset than surrounding yourself with mentors and people of experience. It will save you anyone a lot. Almost same experiences has happened with me. "I join my friend and partner with him in his business, I borrowed much money and invested with him, finally I had to learn several great lessons, the business is no more. Have learned from it! And to anyone who feels like he have lost money...Don't look at it that way...see it as " You're paying to learn a great lessons" Regards!
Sometimes, people even don‘t do it on purpose, sometimes in business you lose everything to people who also lose everything at the same time. Business is a ruthless lifestyle. Fact is, coming back is always possible. It is about personal skill and experience, no one can take that away! Dan you‘re for real...sorry for your dad! I hope he managed to see you being that successful!
Biggest takeaway for me from this video is when doing partnerships in business keep all the important control of your company towards your self and let other minor things be towards your business partners and always try to have major stake of your company towards yourself and always protect yourself and also not to trust anyone easily.THANKYOU DAN THE MAN!
Thank you for sharing this video Sifu.
Take away from this video.
1. Be a obsessed learner.
2.Give importance for team, team management.
3.Always get protected from legal side.
Those are great take aways we can implement into our lives 😁
yeah, sure, Ravikumar
Traitors will be exposed and paid for every sort of damages incurred in the past. Thank goodness Mr Lok held on.
I learned from this video that honesty is very expensive gift, dont expect it from cheap people😀❤
i agree, especially from people who became miserable with poverty mentality, they treat themselves cheaply and so they will also treat you cheap, if they see something valuable from you like honesty (evidence you are a non-cheap person), they will teach you a lesson and try to bring you to their level (they're thinking "who does s/he think s/he is?"), as an unconscious attempt to justify their misery, they will even verbally deny they are justifying their misery, all they know is, they got insulted with your honesty, for them it feels like you are trying to distinguish yourself from them as someone better. as an honest person, i get this almost every week, its damn draining.
as a government security official once said in a seminar i attended, trust AND verify. never lose your faith in humanity, still trust in the things being alleged to you, but it is also your automatic step 2 to always verify everything being said to you, if the allegation is a lie, then that's my permit to hunt down the liar and take him apart using his words. take that from someone who's paid to investigate legal problems.
Z it's you 👍😀🙏
*When it comes to money, it's hard to find an honest business partner. Thay can steal ur money buy they cannot take away your wisdom. So inspiring! Thank you so much DAN from Philippines🇵🇭*
soo true.. i got screwed by a business who fooled me for some house work.. it makes me feel soo bad how i got fooled
I was very broke and I watched all your videos every single day, non stop, here I am having my own car, apartment, and bussiness to run. Your videos means everything to me, you helps me become like this I want to thank you , you are a great teacher
You’re awesome man, respect for you and your family
And your pet dog.
Z
I once had a partner that tried to steal $15,000 from me. Now I’m totally against partnerships. Great video.
Damn straight. If it is to be then it is up to me!
Chris Lynch- Become The Best You are you even listening he said you need to have partnership
Don't eschew partnerships entirely. Learn from them.
Sometimes I actually believe you can read my mind 🤔 this video comes EXACTLY right when I need it
*The greatest gift of life is to be raised during adversities.*
Learning the value of hard work, humility, discipline, empathy and life in general.
I got screwed by a partnership 10 years ago. Funny how this topic can apply to interpersonal partnership as well. I am just getting back on my feet. I have been solo ever since. I do value a community of like minded individuals, though, as long as they as willing to grow.
Yeah, I was screwed over once. It just forced me to grow. I am glad you bounced back Dan!👍
Respect man. I feel your pain. This is so honest. I can relate 100 percent. I have watched many of your videos. This is your best one
It's very touching. We should learn from his pain
Thank you for sharing Sifu. I got screwed 5 yrs ago. I had to shut down business and financially got ruined. I learned never to trust anyone when it comes to money. Doesn't matter how well I know someone or how trusting they are. In a blink of an eye people change.
So true! The change when large sums of money is involved is humbling, shocking and crazy at the same time.
Yeah me too
Thank you Dan Lok. This is very relatable. I got betrayed by a fellow RUclipsr friend a while back and I was very hurt but I eventually got back up stronger than ever. I grew a thick skin and have become very resistant to pain. I have so much respect for Dan Lok
You got betrayed by a RUclipsr? I'm very curious what happened. No hard feelings if you aren't willing to share online to random strangers though
This was like a small therapy session
vik Boyd
Well, at least you are ALIVE. It could have been much worse
@@КоТэ-с2х yes I thank God everyday! I appreciate life now. And its frustrating that people around me no matter where I go, I see them complaining about the dumbest shit
Jesus Christ man. I’m really sorry.
Always admit your mistake which is a way of self growth. Not a lot of people can really do that, not to say in a situation like someone screwing you. But no matter what kind of situation you can always learn something no pain no gain!
There will allways be partners who'll screw you over.
That can be sad..but you could always recover if you could create the momentum to do so
Really inspiring... Successful people have really been through a lot
Betrayal is really apart of business ....even the greats have to go through it .....the winners can get past it 💯
I know that feeling, it just happened to me 10 minutes ago. Telling someone I give up on you just because they want to run the business their way is not ok. Is a way to discourage you to do more and better. What's funny is that I'm the people person of the business and bring in the buyers. Thanks for sharing this.
Threat from people are just threats often and full of air. They say something they want to do with you but legally they cant. Often they overreact.
Reminds me of one of those superheroes.
your tone of voice was completely different than regular vids.
Yes u right. I noticed it as well. Words deep from the heart.
Go Carla!
Thank you Dan for your video and has just gave me some motivation and I hope I would be able to get over this and start something new
Keep going! After every breakdown comes a breakthrough!
It's ok. You still gained experience get it over and create another business project.
Can you give an update? What happened in the end? Did you start a new business?
I have 2 business partners at the current moment and it's VERY CHALLENGING!!! Had I ask questions in the beginning I would have never entered a partnership with them. Never again!
I haven't had a business partner but have had coworkers screw me over and spread lies.
so sad
I recently started a small business, and it was doing well, and I got screwed over too. Listening to your story is inspiring. It is HEARTBREAKING. I learned that, trust is not something to be given easily and friends (My business partner) no matter how long you've know them. Can't be trusted blindly. I definitely lost my trust in people. But I haven't lost hope and hope to start something again soon.
You are too good to see the bad in people. But you are successful today. Thank you
the fact that you worked your way up makes you a stronger person and i respect you for that
Hi Dan, I learned to trust my instincts and act quickly.
Simply, THIS IS 'LIFE'...
Exactly the same story that I have :(
father , first partner, second partner. exactly the same. It hurts deeply
Been through this many times, but have a hard time letting go of that anger but I can now because of this video. Thanks Dan. Your internal strength is admirable.
I learned from this is that:
Keep on learning don't quit and be fearless for your dreams.
Thank you so much Dan Lok

I have learned to not misplace my trust. I have learned to not hand over your responsibilities for important projects if even for a brief moment. I have learned what I want in a partnership. I have learned that I should always trust my instinkts about a situation. I have learned that if you focus on the money lost and the hurt.. You have missed the lesson that it was. This lesson will prepare me for a brighter future.
Even after these type of experiences, you are still the kindest and most giving person I know and I can never thank you enough for it. I love you Sifu
I only ever have myself or myself and my life partner as business partner. I will never ever go into business with an external person. NEVER. I've still been screwed over by dodgy clients and accountants but the business is safe and nothing they do can damage that as no one will ever have that level of control over me or my business. Thanks Dan this video helped so much
Agreed
This had me almost in tears. Thank you so much for making this video. This was encouraging during a difficult time we all face during life.
The first thing I say when someone screws me over I ask the universe to NOT let me hate. I'm getting more selective with whom I trust but I will never let these people make me bitter. I will not let them win by holding on to grudge or feelings of revenge. I wish them well knowing they will always be losers.
what doesn't kill you make you stronger
Dan this was emotional but it taught me your years of business partnership experience in mere 17 minutes.Thankyou dan !
Good post. Sam Walton lost his first store due to a bad business deal. Mark Cuban’s secretary made off with $80k. Both won in the end.
I was about deleting you and just listening to this just made me sit back with you. I salute your courage
My life has been full of disappointments and am still healing day by day .
Dear Shifu,
I just got screwed over by my business partner who was so called my friend and I had never thought of him less than a brother and two months ago he kicked me out of our business.
Regards,
Ravi Maru from India
You can recover, Dan believes in you.
dan dont leave us. 1 only learned 1% of you. and it helps a lot.
i had bad meals too. beggar life. but im growing just like you and i feel the success growing despite 1 digit left lf my pocket sometimes when tragedy comes.
I learned that we have to learn from people’s or partners’s betray to make stronger yourself
I never watch these types of videos, but I watch Dan Lok videos and this was *exactly* what I needed to hear today. Thank you!
Those 3 scammers must be watching and disliking the video.
When a branch broke down from tree, tree doesn't decrease in length it's always increasing.
Same happened with me sifu..
I'm sure many people are trust worthy, and I'm proud of being one of them. 15 years in different businesses, never failed my partners or any other people in my life.
I've been there and I beat myself up too. What I learned was write everything down in a contract and spell out what each is expected to do. My trust was permanently affected.
I did that ...even had lawyers do the paperwork...when u are dealing with a dishonest person nothing on paper will help!!
I've also learned how to be better in many ways, starting with being more humble and appreciative of life's many blessings.
what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger...!!!!!!!!!
Thank you, Sifu for sharing this
Why are you calling him Sifu?
its shi fu not si fu. 师傅
Answer me
@@TheRosiebeam Hey man!
You inspires so much with your gift...all working for me for good.
wow!!! who would have known that a great man such as you would have gone through such betrays? When I went through my share of experience I felt like dying, like drowning myself in tears, the relationship with my former business partner was toxic. Thank you for taking the courage to share your experience.
I have had few partners in my business career but never again !!!! What I have learned is never trust no one and no favors in business at all.
Dan cried to this video Dan I super respect you , your a fighter super respected you!
Thank you..So much relatable to my situation..You inspired me today..Study,do the work, learn from it,give it time...thanks
The lesson I learned is what doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Thank you Dan. Truly, there's no greater asset than surrounding yourself with mentors and people of experience. It will save you anyone a lot. Almost same experiences has happened with me.
"I join my friend and partner with him in his business, I borrowed much money and invested with him, finally I had to learn several great lessons, the business is no more. Have learned from it!
And to anyone who feels like he have lost money...Don't look at it that way...see it as " You're paying to learn a great lessons"
Regards!
I've always appreciated your openness and willingness to share your past experiences even though they were painful. Thank you for this video Sifu.
Biggest takeaway for me from this video is when doing partnerships in business keep all the important control of your company towards your self and let other minor things be towards your business partners and always try to have major stake of your company towards yourself and always protect yourself and also not to trust anyone easily.THANKYOU DAN THE MAN!
I need to hear this 10 times a day, you are awesome!!
At the end of the day, the truth is in the pain. Thank you Dan.
Totally just we say never trust to people. Only trust yourself that is the matter.
Thank you, my tech company is dissolving due to bad partnership. I'm still here and I learned alot.
